How can I get my cat a Revolution prescription online & avoiding physically bringing her to the vet?

Hey all! It's been quite some time since I last posted here but every year besides this year (2020) we've taken Princess to the vet and she's always been up to date on her shots and everything like that and every year when we'd bring her in, the vet would also prescribe her an RX for topical Revolution for ear mites and it has always worked great.

With the unprecedented state of our country at the moment, the last thing I want to do is physically go to a veterinarian for a revolution prescription. Is it possible to get it online anywhere without a prescription and if not, where can one obtain a prescription online? Thanks in advance. Any and all comments are appreciated

Chewy.com will ship prescriptions. They will ask you whether you want them to contact your vet to get the ok or you can contact them. Once your vet writes up the written prescription, you just mail it into the Chewy Pharmacy and they will ship it to you. And it will probably cost you a lot less than getting it from the vet. Ours was $20 less from Chewy!!

A prescription for Revolution shouldn't require a vet visit. Call the vet and ask if a prescription can be faxed or emailed to wherever you want to buy the product from. Chewy.com and 1800PetMeds among other web sites sell Revolution and usually ask for a prescripton or your vet's contact info. Be wary of web sites that sell prescription products without asking for a prescription or vet info. The product may be counterfeit.

Your vet may even sell Revolution and can arrange for it to be mailed to you or pick up.

Hi. I would check with your vet first, as I believe it is pretty standard protocol for a cat to be tested for heartworms before being treated with any product that is supposed to prevent them. While there is no treatment to eradicate existing adult heartworms, cats who are positive are routinely monitored for signs of heart and lung issues. Revolution will not kill adult heartworms that are present at the time it is administered.

And, by all means be wary of using any company that does not require a prescription, as heartworm meds for cats are regulated by the FDA and, therefore, require a veterinarian’s prescription.

I started having second thoughts once I got over the initial "this is cheaper!!" feeling.

I agree to check with your vet. I do have to say in defense of the company, I have never had an issue with them. As a breeder I routinely get different medicines without a prescription ( my vet knows this and has no problem with it.). Of course I do NOT skip going to see the vet if needed.
Wasn't implying there was something wrong with the company. Sorry if it was interpreted that way. My second thoughts were more about what my vet said when I asked about getting Revolution Plus from Chewy instead of them. She said to be very careful about where you buy stuff because there is no guarantees. I was happy with how Chewy handled everything and I already have it on auto ship so I don't think I'll need to keep getting written prescriptions each month anymore.

I order mine from BudgetPetCare.com. No prescription needed and it is cheaper than Chewy.
I used BudgetPetCare and ordered a 3 dose pack of Revolution Plus for my cat, thanks so much for the website suggestion! A quick question, how long did it take to ship your order after you placed it at BudgetPetCare? I'm just curious because I placed my order about 20 minutes after you suggested their site which was several hours ago and my order status is still "in-process"

It does take awhile. I think the last time I ordered it was about 2 weeks before I got it. I guess it was because of the pandemic. That is still better than another company I ordered something else from - that one took 2 1/2 months.

In the USA. I don't think many other countries require prescription for Revolution/Stronghold. I use overseas pharmacies for drugs for my cats as American prices comparing to European for the same drugs are ridiculously high. Many members buy Revolution from Australian pharmacies without issues, at half price comparing to what it costs in here. Of course it doesn't mean the vet visit should be skipped.

My vet put one of my cats on Heartgard as a parasite preventative because my cat developed an allergic reaction to Revolution. No testing for heartworms was done.

Maybe this depends where you live. I have had my vet use Revolution on my cats, and it was used extensively on my dog as a puppy for his case of mange as a rescue with no heartworm testing. The only heartworm test I have ever done was for my now very old GSD who needed Interceptor and the vet insisted on the heartworm test, which was negative.

Mind throwing any suggestions my way? Would an Australian online pet pharmacy ship revolution to the US without an RX? Thanks everyone 👍🏽👍🏽

I started ordering Revolution from Australia last year after reading a thread on this site. It’s been great and sooo much cheaper. Here is the name of the original thread Revolution From Australia?

I use 1800PetMeds, and they handle the prescription end of it. My vet knows I order online, and it's okay with them. PetMeds will contact your vet by email, who responds back, and you get the meds. My vet authorized several refills, too, so no wait at all.

Not sure why the OP isn't able to at least call the vet for a prescription? :headscratch: Or use a legit US based web site like 1800PetMeds, Chewy, etc where customer service will contact the vet on your behalf.

I would be wary of buying prescription products online. You have no way of knowing if the product is legit or not, expired product repackaged into a new box, etc. There may be a customs fee on top of the shipping fee depending on where the seller is located. Your cat's health and safety isn't worth saving a few dollars for.

There are many reasons a simple call to the vet for a prescription can be difficult. For me I was between vets as I did not click with the original one I took my boys to. The pets megastore has been a great resource for me that has saved me ALOT of money. I have only received quality products.
