Yea I cant for the life of me remember if she had the symptoms were before or after the food change. If its the food im happy cause that can always be changed if find one that actually agrees with her. I do mix the gastro with the hills still cause the gastro is high calorie and wd is low calorie and I do want a fatter Allie

Ok ive decided to order royal canin fiber response gastro food, they been on the high calorie one which allie doesnt want anymore and im hoping the regular calorie one taste different enough that she eats it..

I think this is the best course to see if its food related

BTW royal canin changed the high energy gastro food to a different name

Just make sure you chart the ingredients in each of these foods you've fed her to see if you can find any pattern as what might the 'problematic' items. Hope it works!

  • Alterations in behavior: many pets may experience hyperactivity and hyperesthesia as a consequence of a food allergy. This can cause an increase in their aggressiveness and cause alterations in their usual behavior, such as: a tendency to isolate or hide, appear to be less sociable than usual, lose interest in their food or toys, etc.

Itchiness could do that to a person too!! When a person - or a cat, for that matter - is fighting with annoying itchiness, all of those descriptions could certainly apply. But, it is good news for you - assuming you find a food source for Allie's problems!!

I notice today that royal canin has changed the gastrointestinal high energy which is what both my cats eat, (Allie snobs it now though after eating it for a year but i put probiodics on it today and she ate it)has changed the formula

Royal Canin Veterinary Diet Gastrointestinal Dry Cat Food | Chewy (Free Shipping)
if you look at nutritional info its slightly different with .7 more fiber and slightly different ingredients

do you think the taste has changed and Allie might like it again
I went to the vet today to order gastro fiber response but waiting on vet approval now im thinking the new formula of high energy might be a better try

The taste could have changed, but being dry food, it isn't like you can pick a single serving to test it out. You could buy the smallest bag, and if you are into donating things, give it away if she doesn't like it? Or, give it to your other cat?

I have her actually eating her old food, sometimes I sprinkle probiodics on it, shes been off the science diet for about 35 hours now..

How long would it take for this allergen to leave her system? Shes showing signs of improvement but who know if its placebo effect
Being that she was only on the hills for almost 3 weeks would it still take 3 months to leave?

It will likely take more than 35 hours. But, when you say placebo effect, you mean on you - just thinking you are seeing an improvement? It can't be on her; she has no idea what is going on with regard to that - as I am sure you know. ;) I hope it is working!! Give it some more time, with any luck you will continue to see improvement.

Should I use advantage which ive been blaming or get some pet flea shampoo

She had a oatmeal bath on friday, I will probably reapply advantage tomorrow

I assume this behavior is from a flea, I checked her for a hour and couldnt find the punk flea

Can one flea make her run around my house biting her back like the video? She had big episodes right now... Im still scared to give the flea meds...Im a wait till tomorrow so if somethin does go wrong at least my vets is open

I cant find the flea Im checking her as much as I can all night, I swear I seen something on the surface of her fur and it quickly dissapeared, I think its just one flea or very few....

I didnt find any lumps her skin looks fine but i did find a single scab on her back

What gets me is she wasnt doing this before I gave her any flea treatments and had fleas she would scratch but not do this

She just had a hairball and then she went and crapped on my bathroom rug all after running around the house going nuts..I never used enzyme cleaner there from a short time ago she had diarrhea there but this time her stool was regular...Maybe from running around the house from the flea/food allergy/flea med allergy stressed her out and she crapped there

Prob get a shampoo from petco to be on the safe side

Based on your description, I thought the video would be a lot worse. ... I think she just has fleas, especially since you said you got a "bunch of flea dirt" on your comb. I'd recommend brushing her w the comb more often than not.

My cat would scratch her tail CONSTANTLY all the time for most of her life (11 months). Think it was a nervous tic, but also fleas. At one point during the summer/flea months, she ripped out a piece of fur near her tail, and I saw maybe 4-5 big thick dried up flea poop that was on the fur of her tail.

I'd recommend just go crazy vacuuming, and cleaning up your house bc I'm sure there are flea eggs somewhere.

I'm sorry you're also dealing w the diarrhea AND fleas at the same time. I remember I thought we had solved my cat's flea problems, then I got frustrated I saw a flea on her a bit later and kicked her out to clean up (she was outdoor indoor cat). That was the last time I saw her :( :( Still miss her so much.

But yes based on your posts it's a flea issue.. the medication could also be making the fleas that were on her more active so she panics a bit when the fleas bite her skin (but don't quote me on that, I'm sure people here know better about the specific medication).

as I said, I'd recommend flea combing her daily in different areas, if you're surprised by how much flea poop/fleas you get off from her then you found your issue. Also definitely comb her near her tail to see if that's why too

Being a persian, I am guessing you have brushes you brush her with already, yes? I would brush her first and then try a flea comb afterward. The link below is a flea comb that was listed as part of the 'arsenal' for grooming persian cats (I also included the link about the best brushes for persians which listed this flea comb). Maybe it would work?

Before when I gave her advantage multi in the past , she would take it and show no reactions..
Any reason why you can't go back to the Adv Multi you used with her before that you indicated she has no issues with?

Can one flea make her run around my house biting her back like the video?
Where there is one flea, you can bet there are many, many more. Along with figuring out what you want to treat Allie with, you need to start vacuuming everywhere she goes every 2-3 days and always throw the bag away after each vacuum session. Get a flea treatment for the premises as well. I have used Adams Flea & Tick Home Spray, Martin's IGR spray, and Precor 2000 spray. I also included a link to a very informative web site all about fleas.

Allie still does her dance, not as bad as before though I think.....I also found a small scab bump on her hind possibly miliary dermatitis I dunno....

Should I give it more time or take her to the vet for possible steroid shot?

If the Advantage II works, the bumps should go away because she will stop itching/scratching, which is likely the cause for the scab/bump. On the chance that she has a flea allergy, Adv II is supposed to kill fleas without the fleas biting her - so, same result. IMO, getting her a steroid shot is kind of premature, and may not really be necessary.

The problem you may have is the one I am experiencing - as I think I already mentioned - and, that is that Adv II is no longer fully effective. So, I think Feeby is still getting bit. I believe the Adv II helps to keep the fleas to a more manageable level, along with constant vacuuming and periodic premise treatment. I also try to flea comb her regularly, but need to do it more consistently in the hopes that will also help to reduce the numbers of fleas in her environment as well.

You are right!

I took her in her outdoor tent and flea comb her, I have the same comb you linked to me matter of fact.. I found over 5 live fleas and I threw them on the grass, I will spray the grass later today with bifen xts...

Crappy thing is I have two cats, I wll go to petco today to see if they have a comb with longer bristles if that would help im not sure...Its difficult to comb her being her hair is long and also its kinky on her stomach...I combed her until she gently attacked me

Get a dish of very soapy water (any kind of dish soap will do) and put the flea comb in it to drown the buggers. Throwing them in the grass gives the little creeps the chance to jump back on your cat. I have actually had a flea or two 'crawl' on me when Feeby is on my lap - I grab them and have held them in between my finger and thumb for over 5 minutes (waiting to convince Feeby to leave my lap) and they are still alive when I put them in my soapy dish that I always leave in the kitchen.

Hopefully, the ones you saw looked 'ill'! When I flea comb Feeby, they may be moving, but they are very, very slow. And, very, very small. Just like the one on my arm, it was sick enough that I could grab it.
