Mamanyt1953 Mamanyt1953 Mamanyt1953 Mamanyt1953 How in the name of all that's holy did you stab yourself in the back?! Holy cow, woman!
SO, I was coming into the living room to eat in front of the TV (that makes sense when you live along...or with just a cat). I had my plate in one hand and my steak knife in the other (didn't want the knife to fall and hit my foot...HAH!). I went to sit down and braced the knife hand on arm of the chair to balance, sat down and leaned back! It only went in about half an inch, but it was in an odd place and I couldn't stop the bleeding. Called 911. They got there, and asked who stabbed me, preparing to call the police. I said, "I DID!" and explained. Laughter. Got to the ER. Doctor asked what happened. MORE LAUGHTER. Now, bear in mind, that I'm laughing like a hyena, as well, so no problem with them laughing. Got two stitches. Was told, "You almost took your kidney out." Answered, "Well, that one's atrophied anyhow, no great loss!" and was called "a tough old bird!"

But sharp knives and a pair of kitchen shears might be safer for you.
Given my penchant for doing weird things, the only SAFE thing would be to done a total maile suit before cooking. And my knives actually are sharp. I don't DARE deal with dull ones!

DH looked at it, looked at me, shook his head and said, "Only you. Only you."
LOL, show him the above, and tell him it could be worse!

Tonight, um. Dunno. Hadn't thought about it at all. I'm thinking chicken salad with crackers.

Mamanyt1953 Mamanyt1953 Wow! I'm just glad you're OK. The paramedics were probably glad that that's all it was. :)

So I turned the rest of that chicken into soup last night. It was good; we had it with the A to Z Muffins I made yesterday.

Tonight? Whatever Rick makes. I'm going on strike. For one night only. Although, thanks to lizzie lizzie I could eat fried chicken. Dearest Richard would throw a fit if I did chicken AGAIN, so that's not going to happen. Whatever Rick makes or gets is fine with me. Just please don't make me cook.

Tell him it's cheating if he pulls something out of the freezer that you already made.

He can always go pick up a couple of ribeyes and grill them up. A couple of baked potatoes in the Foodi grill and a salad and he's good to go. :)

I have a ribeye in the freezer. It's been calling me. The girls would not object to having some of that tonight. We had roasted chicken again last night.

Pam,there is something about that chicken from the local grocery store...I know they marinate it,but have no idea in what, but it's just so darn good! And it's not greasy, either.Spent a lot of time today working in his office trying to get my canned goodies reorganized and went thru a bunch of stuff I broke down and decided to pitch, making room for all his cases of honey...anyway,I was not cooking. We went to Sonic,so that was dinner.

Even grilling has pretty much become my domain; I don't know when that happened!
I envy you and your grilling expertise.I have never, and probably never will. When I say we had grilled pork chops or grilled this or that...I have a wonderful 12" cast iron grill pan that I love and that's my grill!By the way...the mint iced tea is delish! Thanks!

lizzie lizzie You tried the tea! Oh, I'm so glad you like it! Around here, we love the stuff. I keep saying I should dry some mint leaves, just to have it over the cold months, but I never do. As for the grilling thing, Rick doesn't like chicken and hated to grill the stuff, so I just started. Then I started doing the pork butts. One St. Patty's Day, I suggested that we try grilling our corned beef. And before I knew it, I was the griller. I'd really like to have a smoker and have been wanting one for quite a while now. I'm afraid to spend that much money on a smoker, if I can't figure out how to properly use the thing.

Last night, Rick did provide dinner in the form of Mickey D's. I didn't care. Haven't had McD's in quite a while and I didn't have to cook, so it worked out.

I made a dough ball this morning to make pizza in the cast iron pan for dinner tonight. Pepperoni, carmelized onion, and green pepper with mozz. I'll probably make two. We do love our pizza.

I had all sorts of plans for dinner last night, up to and including individual peach blueberry cobblers (to photograph for my 3rd week Blueberry Summer entry on my website.)

But was on the phone with my sis-in-law who had to have Galinda euthanized, her elderly cat with kidney issues that was constipated, had to have two enemas, problems with her hind legs - it was time but this is never easy. I would stay on the phone with her as long as she needed / wanted to talk to me.

By the time we hung up it was almost 7:00 p.m. Down to the freezer for some pulled pork. Defrost, heat up, serve on lightly toasted onion pocket rolls. Quickly cooked sliced carrots, added frozen green peas. Called it good.

I have a long-standing love affair with George Forman's grill.

Tonight...um. Dunno, again, but dessert will be a walnut cake with maple glaze. I actually spring for GOOD real maple syrup, just to make the glaze. I use the fake stuff for pancakes and waffles, due to the expense, but I go all out on the maple glaze.

Look, look. Look what I made all on my own. Ain't I a clever boy!
That looks divine, absolutely delicious. :yummy: Just in case you didn't know we have a Quarantine Baking thread here: Quarantine baking

Sandwiches for us last night - DH used the chicken teriyaki strips I made earlier in the week with a baked potato on the side and I made a veggie sandwich with baby carrots on the side. Neither one of us has had much of an appetite due to the extreme heat. Not sure about tonight since I might bake this afternoon, "might" being the key word.

I took two pork chops out of the freezer this morning. We'll do baked potatoes in the Foodi Grill, then I'll throw in the chops for a couple minutes. Sauteed zucchini to go with. And mint tea.

Our pizza last night. I put shredded mozz and a wee bit of cheddar right on the crust. Followed by the leftover marinara sauce, the sliced pepperoni, onions, and peppers, and more mozz. A bit of Italian seasoning. Baked at 450F for 20 minutes. (BTW, those cast iron pans are both very old Griswolds; one was my great-grandmother's and the other belonged to Rick's maternal grandmother. Excellent pans, both of them. They need a good seasoning again, but I'm waiting for when the temp isn't in the 90s.) We love our pizza.

lizzie lizzie , you took the words right off of my fingertips...or several of them. Biscuits and scrambled eggs here. No bacon thawed, alas, and NONE of that good honey! Just some half-decent store stuff, but I think I'll just plop the eggs on the biscuits and call it done.

And a slice of walnut cake.:yess:
