We gained three kittens yesterday! That makes our total cat count 12; however, two of the original nine and one of the kittens are going with my son when he and his fiancee move into their house.

First up, we have Iroh Finnian Poe, named after a character from "Avatar: The Last Air Bender."

Next is Cassian Pendragon Fox. Cassian is either an older kitten from a different litter, which is my guess, or he is going to be a giant cat.

Finally, we have Cutie-Pie Noname. We are seriously considering Calanthe, though.

They are a bit wild at the moment and in desperate need of baths, Each of them has put their tails in the water and then sat or slept in the litterbox. Cutie-Pie Noname has escaped twice and ran around the downstairs rooms. I am going to take them to the vet shortly. When someone is home, I am going to have them help me give the kittens a bath and clean the pack-n-play.

What a lovely trio and so lucky to have homes. Good luck with the bathing.
It went a lot better than expected! Haha! Iroh is pretty laid back. Cassian is a wee bit wild, and the Cutie-Pie Noname is a bit more than a wee bit wild. My hands will recover! (Ignore my fingernails! They still have wood stain on them.)

So precious and I bet they smell fragrant after their bath. 😻

I took all of my new kittens and my daughter's new kitten, Jasper, to the vet. Cassian is from a different litter, as we suspected, and about 9 weeks old. Iroh and Xanthippe are both roughly 6 weeks old. She said that since they act like siblings and were relatively tame(ish) when I caught them that it is likely that they were dumped by someone who has multiple litters of kittens at their house. The three of them like to pile on top of each other! I think that she is probably right. They were likely at least somewhat neglected before being dumped because they were all little skeletons under all that fur and they are very shy of humans except when food is involved.

They are getting along pretty well with my other cats, especially Fennimore, my 19 lb 7-year-old tabby. We expected Tara to be a bit of an issue, which she is, but, thankfully, it is more hissing from afar. She let them eat next to her, so it is going better than expected.

Cassian is very shy towards us, but he loves to run around and play with the other cats and all the toys. He thinks he needs to eat all the time. The first day out, we fed him with Xanthippe and Iroh in the sitting room because they are on kitten food. As soon as he was done, he ran to the kitchen and tried to steal all the food from the other cats. It was adorable because they looked very confused. All the toys are his favorites. He was sleeping in the litter box in their room before we let them out. He was sleeping next to the Litter-Robot when we let him out, but he has moved on to a floor cushion that I am in the middle of recovering. Recovering will have to wait until he feels more comfortable.

Xanthippehas warmed up the most so far. She has let my husband and me hold her for extended periods of time and does not run off as soon as she sees us. She is always hopping around like a bunny. I think we made a good choice keeping Xanthippe and Cassian because she is rather attached to him. She obviously loves Iroh, but she is most often with Cassian. Her favorite "toy" is Fennimore. She jumps on him all the time to demand attention. She will sleep anywhere, but prefers to be near Cassian on the aforementioned floor cushion.

Iroh has been spending about half his time with my son and his fiancee, who are his actual mom and dad. He also spends time with his two new sisters, Willow and Estella, who are my son and his fiancee's cats. We were shocked that Estella is okay with him, as she is a bit of a diva who wants my son to herself. He is definitely the shyest. I am doing my best not to get too attached to him because I know he will be leaving me soon. I must say that it is difficult!

Jasper was given to my daughter 2 hours before I left for the vet, which is about a half-hour highway trip away, and he was a lot worse off than my three. Poor baby needed an IV. He is not doing much better and settling in nicely with her two other (older) kittens Iris and Juniper. My Hobbit baby loves to watch all the cats at his house and our house.

So lovable! Keep us apprised.

They look a lot like Maine Coon Mixes or something like that. The boys might get big with time.

We will have to see! They are certainly settling in faster than any of my other cats have. At least with the other cats and with the house. They are still pretty people shy and run if we approach them. We have to wait for them to come to us, which Cassian and Xanthippe are starting to do more often. Iroh is exceptionally shy. We have to get him when he is sleeping or if he comes up to one of the other cats while we are petting them.

I do suspect that our Silas--the once-teeny-tiny stray we found almost two years ago--has a little of something like that in him because he is huge! My vet thinks there is a touch of Siberian forest cat in him.

There has been a bit of a change with Iroh and our other cat, Silas. As difficult as it will be for me, Silas will be going with my son and his fiancee rather than Iroh. When we got the kittens, we knew three cats would be going with my son. Financially and space-wise. They have always wanted Silas, and I have told them no until now.

It has been a month, and Iroh is still painfully shy. The only human he does not run from all the time is me. He lets others pet him if they catch him and will not run if my husband sits down next to me while I am holding him. He recently started seeking me out and wanting me to pet him, which is a huge deal. When making this decision, I also took into consideration his relationship with some of the other cats, especially Xanthippe and Cassian. The three have a strong bond. He also has taken Fennimore as his adopted father or older brother. All three have. Then there is Freya. Freya is close with Silas, but she has decided she loves the kittens, too. I do not think it would be fair to Iroh to separate him from them given his personality. (Iroh also really likes watching my goldfish, Xiomara and Saoirse. He has no interest in my betta and danios, but he will sit and watch Xiomara and Saoirse so long that he falls asleep on the floor near the tank. My son's shrimp tank cannot compete with two goldfish nearly the size of my hand!)

Silas, on the other hand, is close with Willow, and Estella actually kind of likes him. That is to say that, if he goes near my son or his room, Estella will let Silas in without an issue and occasionally will cuddle with him. (Estella is psycho about my son and his room. She guards it, making sure only certain cats go in his room. Tara is not one of those cats!) I love that cat so much, but I think he will be okay going with my son and daughter-in-law. And, they will not be far away, so I will see him often.

I feel like a bad cat momma, but I know that I am considering all reasonable and fair options.

I will have to post new pictures soon!
