Can anyone explain why emptying a full trash can is so difficult? :frustrated:The problem tech at work had a full biohazard trash can in one of her assigned areas. It was full on Friday when I used it and it just got even more full over the weekend. The tech signed off as checking the room this morning. Every box on the sheet was checked including "check trash can". I used the room later in the morning. Trash can was close to spilling trash onto the floor :cringe: I did my work, cleaned up, and managed to squish my trash into the trash can. I then informed the manager and he was like ":censored:???" :cringe: and immediately sent a text to the tech to ask her to empty the trash can. As I was coming back down the hall, I saw the tech go into the room presumably to empty the trash can. I checked after lunch and it was empty. Seriously?? She has to be specifically told to empty a full trash can?? Does the sign off sheet need to be more specific with "check and EMPTY trash can"?? She was just talked to again last week about trash can issues and her work in general by the supervisor and management and at the team meeting last week management reiterated job expectations. And yet somehow she doesn't get it :frustrated::gaah: She's basically getting paid to do not do the job :rolleyes3::bat:

So just now came back from Mom picking up her car that was totalled a month ago. Saw ants in the food I left for Treasure and Sopdet so I throw it out into the yard (possums and raccons at night eat that). Anyway Treasure gets right in my way and gets hit by a few flying pieces of Friskies. If Sopdet was human she'd be ROFL watching Treasure's face lol

There are no open positions available at the moment. We just hired 3 new people recently for positions that had been available for a few months. I'm sure that if this problem tech were to leave, we could hire someone new fairly quickly.

If this were to happen at any of my previous jobs, the problem tech would have been given one chance to improve and then fired when there are no improvements. I don't understand why the boss is so lenient with staff who aren't meeting expectations and haven't for months :gaah: The boss personally sent me an email saying the issues with this tech was being addressed. Haven't seen anything more than just talking to the tech done yet :rolleyes3: It's more than full trash cans that aren't being emptied. There are other issues, some more serious than others, that others have brought to management's attention.

Just found out that Grant Imahara died of a brain aneurysm. I've been crying ever since. Guess I won't be getting much sleep tonight and I have a test to do tomorrow. This years has felt like nothing but darkness and devastation for me. My heart aches for all those who have lost love ones. I feel very trapped in an inescapable spiral of bad news. I don't know how to feel better.

Graceful-Lily Graceful-Lily I'm so sorry. That's really rough. I've recently been following Naya Riveria who went missing while boating. They just found her body and she confirmed to have drowned. They think she was trying to get back to the boat and just had enough energy to set her 4 year old son on the side of the boat and may not have had enough energy to pull herself up... It was devastating to read and made me really, really sad. Sudden deaths are hard to deal with. It makes me realize how unpredictable things can be and to make the most of my time now.

That's so sad. I don't really watch much tv but we loved MythBusters. 😔

I was supposed to be receiving a big box of school books today. I just checked the shipping...it went to the wrong side of the country completely!! I'm both amused and disappointed. :rolleyes2: There's no use gripping...it happens. But its a good reminder why I don't wait till the last minute to order our school books. It's just very amusing that somehow it got sent all the way to Seattle...when I live on the East Coast. :lol2: I think next week if what I still need isn't on sale I'll go ahead an order.

DD's math workbooks have been on backorder since mid June and the date they expect them keeps getting pushed out. School starts in a month! Which means I've started getting supplies together. And making a list of art supplies. :banana1: My parents want a list of things to take the kids shopping for too. I don't suppose they'd go for a chromebook or an ipad if I put that on there. 😇 I am completely kidding. I'd never ask them to get something like that. It's just after buying all these books I'm glad I stuck with all offline teaching so I'm not buying electronics too. :rolleyes2:

I hope my cats appreciate the effort I go to getting food for them. If I didn’t have a 16 lb bag of cat food in my arms this weather doesn’t bother me. In fact I like standing out in it. Taken as I was leaving Aldi. Yes I put the bag down inside store to take this photo

Now internet is down.

As someone who struggles to take out the trash, I will say I might have "a little" sympathy for that tech. For me it's just like a switch that won't turn on. Now, I take out the garbage garbage every week, but recycling? I have a giant bag that has empty pizza boxes from months ago in it. I don't know why. And food trash...I've said before how hard that is for me...I think that's anxiety over even if I take it out correctly, I might still get blamed if someone does it wrong (because foreigners don't know better, obvs) It's dumb, but when you've grown up with garbage disposals and black trashbags, it's hard to adjust to 'food waste' bags and procedures. I just...don't want to deal with moldy gross old food like that....and the thought of someone being in the elevator with me.... :eek3:

anyway
I think I'm going to buy an Ipad Pro tomorrow. I've been using a Samsung Pen (tablet pc) for the past 2 years and have been getting annoyed by it recently (one of my art plug-ins doesn't work properly and all the "fixes" online are for wacom tablet connections, but I am just using the touch screen!) I also use my computer as my TV, so having a screen to watch while also doing art will be nice. I can even then hook up my projector and still draw (even with the dual monitor mode on, drawing didn't want to work well with a video running through the projector screen). PLUS I can take the Ipad places more easily. I brought my laptop to work today to do some drawing at lunch time and it's kind of a hassle. With the Ipad I could've drawn on the train on the way to work too. Lastly, so many of the artists I follow use Ipads. I'd gotten the Samsung Pen originally because an artist I admired used it. It served me well for a while, but it's time to upgrade. Not like I'm spending money elsewhere. The exchange rate still bites, so no sense sending much money to my home account.

One of there authors I follow does most of her writing on an ipad. She has teenagers who are in band/sports/jobs. So the ipad with the keyboard can go with her. She often writes at her local library when she only has a short time between places to be. They seem like a worthwhile investment these days.

My brother has an actual iPad, and he says that unless you're a real Apple fan, get an Android tablet. He says they can do more and cost less, and are easier to use.

. . .but I know some people just use "iPad" to mean any tablet, just like Xerox and Kleenex ;).
Yeah the reason for getting the Ipad specifically is for art purposes. Nearly all the artists I follow use Ipads and the program Procreate. I've always been a windows/Photoshop user, so this will be a big change. If it was just to have a tablet, I'd get something cheaper for sure.

I've been thinking of switching from an Iphone to an Android for years but we've got an Apple Music family plan that I've coerced my parents into continuing to pay for that I don't want to give up (Yes I'm almost 32 years old and live on the opposite side of the world from my family)

Could it be that because of COVID19 they are giving her/him more slack than they normally would?
Maybe something is going on in their personal life that only management is privy to and that is why
their work is subpar. Maybe you could ask the tech if everything is ok with them, not being too inquisitive?
