Some people also make broken pot fairy gardens which are very cute.

From the web. Cute, right?? Life goals, but not sure if I want to purposefully break any of my pots to make one right now. The third picture though is stacking planters, which will be a future project, too.
Wow, they're amazing! Bet I could make a great dinosaur garden.

One of my cacti is having babies. I have a little saucer kindergarten of things waiting to sprout roots now. It's so easy to get obsessed, isn't it?

If you do, you have to share pics!!! I loved that arrangement you stuck some dinosaurs in <3 I added a pack of dino toys ontomy Amazon wishlist and hope to have some one day to add to my pots, too!

How does the cactus that is having babies grow them? That's very exciting!

My sister rescued an orchid that was half dead and its coming back to life.
Starting to bud and cant wait to see what the flowers look like so we can work out what orchid it is...all we know it comes from Indonesia. Any orchid specialists out there??

Of course I will.
;)
Here are a few pics of the two dinosaur gardens, if anyone is interested. I'm glad I took these pictures. I can already see how much everything has grown.

Just started sprouting little balls at the sides. I've taken three off to see if they start sending out roots.

That sounds like a question for Jcatbird Jcatbird

For those of you who grow succulents: When do you re-pot the baby succulents that grow from dropped leaves? If they're sending out roots should I re-pot them, or wait until the parent leaf has completely shriveled?

I see really pretty orchids in the garden center. I do not have a green thumb so I will leave those alone. I also live in an apartment so whatever I have they will be strictly indoors. I don't even have a balcony or patio.

It was basically seeds planted in a non-soil medium. The pot just soaks in a tray of water. Most cat grass and catnip plants sold in pet stores are like this.

No cat grass action yet:

I just use a 16 oz foam drinking cup as a pot.

@Willowy That meme is so great! Reminds me of my friends apartment.
My supervisor is really into plants, too. She says she has a lot and her husband won't let her get any more. She really wants some carnivorous plants. I"m not sure what plants she has at the moment. I know she has an Aero Garden in her kitchen and a bunch of plants on her little balcony and an outdoor garden.

I've heard to wait for the parent leaf to shrivel. :)

Your cacti are so cute! Love all the babies! There are so many <3

What kind of light do you have your crassula in, the one in the second dinosaur picture? You have some nice red on the edges! That is one I'm hoping to increase light to stimulate more red since the new growth has been all green so far.

Have you ever done a bonsai tree before?
No, I haven't. I've been doing a lot of searching for more in-depth information but I haven't found any useful tips on how to get started. So, I'm going to take what I've learned so far and go from there. I posted some pictures after I posted previously. Went back and edited the post but here it is again. From what I know so far, it's best to start manipulating them when they are young in order to train them to grow the way you want them to. So, I've tied these two down and I'm hoping they will be forgiving of the odd position for now. It'll be months again before another update because trees take time to grow.

What kind of pots do you use? Ceramic, plastic...? Any preferences and why?
I usually end up getting plastic pots because they are cheaper. They may not be the prettiest but they are good enough to hold the plants in and have good drainage holes.

I went to Michaels today and picked up the yarn for the air plants display and also a hook for the back of the wood. I started carving a design into it because it looked too boring but it isn't deep enough. I need a rotary tool to give it more depth. My dad said he bought one for me a while ago but he forgot where he placed it. Hopefully he finds it soon and then I can finish the design and start varnishing it with my tung oil.

OK, I'll do that. Hopefully the baby succulents and baby cacti will all be ready at the same time. That will give me time to find the perfect pot. And procure more dinosaur.

He usually lives in front of a big, west facing window but if the weather is nice everything comes out onto the deck. And now I know what his name is. I've been calling him the pagoda tree.

That looks good! Can't wait to see how it looks when you've finished.

Here’s a Mother of Thousands, Bryophyllum daigremontianum.

Each of those little thingies on the edges of the leaves is a little plant, which, if it falls in a favorable place, will grow into a whole new plant.

It gets flowers and seeds too.

Keep kids, doggies and kitties away, especially kids and doggies; it's very toxic, but also medicinal.

Learn something new every doggone day.

Graceful-Lily Graceful-Lily Absolutely love the wood air plant hanger! Stunning! You are so talented!

That's a really interesting technique for the plant growth! Although it makes sense that if the stem hardens in that position it would hold the shape. Very neat.

And procure more dinosaur.

And that is inside the house side of the window? Do your plants get full sun when you take out on the deck? Does it get morning, afternoon, evening full sun? What side are they facing outside? Do you think the color is from the west facing window or from when you have taken it outside? Thanks!

New growth on mine is very green. Pretty, but would love to have the reds back!

Pretty sure it is the same species. If so, it should be a Crassula perforata or string of buttons. :)

doomsdave doomsdave Yes! All those babies. Good to know that one is toxic, too. Never noticed they have black spot coloration. That is very pretty! Some people also have pink variaties that have pink babies. :)

This one has been getting more pink color and is so pretty! Very hard to capture the colors with a camera. Here's a few in shade, sun, and flash.

The cat grass is starting to sprout 🌱 Two little green shoots plus a seed that is being pushed out of the soil by the growing roots.

LTS3 LTS3 How exciting! That's one of the best feelings seeing seeds germinate. About how long will it be before kitty will be munching on them? Is this a grass that will continue growing after it gets trimmed by eating?

Here’s an Epidendrum radicans orchid.
Beautiful! Do they grow outside in your yard?

Yes, that's inside. They stay in all winter because I live way up in the mountains, in the big snow country. They get full sun out on the deck. The house is surrounded by trees so they get intermittent shade and full sun throughout the day. I think he already had a bit of pink on him before they were going outside every day. I've noticed they've all grown a bit since they've been having outdoor time, but I don't think the colour has changed that much.

I guess the amount of UV they get is higher than usual because of being at a high altitude. I'm more than 1,000 meters above sea level, maybe that affects the plants?

Norachan Norachan , yes they grow outside. They're tough as can be, though, alas, they won't take the cold.

Bet you've got some glorious yama yuri near you, though. They might be blooming now!

That makes a lot of sense! When I was back at school in the mountains, it seems that my succulents did not stretch as much in the window. Just another reason for me to move back to the mountains again!

A couple of days to be ready for munching. More grass today:

The grass will continue to grow for a week or so with trimming before it gets long and lanky like this:

I found the pic of the wheat grass I bought at the independent market:

I didn't buy this one this time. My mom got it for me. It was $3.99 at the grocery store. It's a dracaena marginata. It's roughly 16.5 inches tall from its base.

Air plants have shipped and should be arriving tomorrow or day after that. Crocheting something... not sure how it will turn out. Was supposed to be a basket but I've never done this before in my life so it'll be interesting to see how it turns out.
