While he is going through the Coccidia treatment, and until he is clear, continue to check for your ringworm spores, on both cats and in places where they hang out. I THINK you aren't going to find them, but ringworm is SUCH a beast to treat, let's be safe! Once Lance is clear of Coccidia, and you haven't spotted any spores, HAVE AT IT!

That’s exactly what I had decided to do. 😀I received my vu black light this morning. I used it to scan my bathroom, dressing room and Lance. I only found one spot in the most random place in the dressing room and sprayed that with rescue disinfectant. It was gone in a minute! Tonight I can do my living area and Sophie. 🤞🏻
Poor Lance is still a very poopy pants and he even puked this morning. How long can treatment take? He’s been sick for so long poor boy.

Just looked at the whole studio and Sophie. I only found 3 spots: Sophie’s favorite bed, the edges of my rug (where it’s all sawn together) and an antique intricate bird cage I brought back from Tunisia. I already washed her bed like 3 times and it’s one of these really fluffy round ones, it already looks very sad for itself so it’s going. The rug I hope I can vacuum it out better but it may have to go too as it’s in a place where it’s hard to really get to it. The cage is so hard to clean and I can’t soak it, so it may have to go to. The rest is all good. Cleaning non stop for a week has paid off!
Oh and Sophie is fine too. She HATES the UV light though. It freaks her out. She was running away from it and even swatted at it a few times. She’s my special girl. Lol

Hey, i’m doing ok, thanks for asking. Since the place looks clear for now, I took a break from cleaning today. I did the bathroom and dressing room because of Coccidia. I enjoy his box every time he poops (which is a lot!) and disinfect it. Trying to keep his environment as clean as possible. So I did that and vacuumed the rugs, but that was all today. My lesions are getting better, slowly but surely.
The rescue contacted me tonight, they have a potential adopter for Lance. I’m not sure what to do. He is so adorable and I really wish I could keep him, but he is still a huge pooping mess and has another 20 days of meds. I won’t be able to do intro for a while and it’s a HUGE question mark as to whether Sophie will even be remotely ok with him staying. He’s already 4 months old. I don’t want him to miss that kitten adoption window. UGH.... why can’t this be simple?!
It can take awhile to clear up. Poor baby. Keep us posted on how EVERYONE is doing, including yourself!

Ok. A literal MIRACLE just happened! I was so bummed out about the news of the potential adopter, I decided to wrap Lance in a blanket and go out in the living room to see what Sophie would do. I went to sit on the couch really close to her with him in my lap.... and nothing! She just relaxed there, started sniffing the air, sniffed my hand. I petted both at the same time Sophie was enjoying the pet, stretching and looking at Lance. Then she came to him to smell him, totally zen about it and then just jumped off the couch. OMG! Did I just get Sophie’s approval?!?!?!

I have a totally unrelated question: litter boxes. Lance has the nasty habit of standing on the edges of the boxe and keeps on tipping it over, dropping half of its content all over the floor and for the last 2 nights in a row he peed outside the box (where the litter had fallen.) he does not go anywhere else, so I assume it’s not that he deliberately wants to pee outside, he just sees a bunch of litter and thinks to himself: litter=pee. He also poops RIGHT on the edge of the box, making it quite hard to clean given his current problems. Do you think a high top box would do the trick? Or would a covered top be better? I’m afraid he’ll still try to stand on the higher top! Or does he simply need a bigger box?

Hi! I think the only way to find out would be to experiment, try a high sided box first and see if that helps :)

He just needed a bigger box. He’s been on Albon for 10 days now and his poop is still liquid. I empty his box every time he poops, disinfect the box everyday and vacuum/ steam clean the room he is in everyday. How long can Coccidia last? I have been given 2 weeks by the rescue to make up my mind about keeping him. Should I take him to my vet for a second opinion?

Yeah. I think I will. I’m waiting for the rescue to send me his medical records. Just want to make sure my vet has all the i formation needed. I did the same thing with Sophie today. She came to him, smelled him... and hissed. I took him away and came back again a bit later. She was fine this time on the bed. A little tail flicking though. Lance SO wanted to play with it but he played it cool! He’s such a good boy. I think she is opened to it. Might just take some time.
I'm reading 2 to 3 weeks, but actually, I think I would take him to your vet - they can double-check if he's ok otherwise, getting dehydrated, etc.

Some hissing, and even swatting, is absolutely normal between an older cat and a kitten. Most of it is the older cat heaving a great sigh, and saying, "Well, I'm stuck with the little upstart, may as well teach him some manners." His mama would be doing the same thing to him. And for the same reason!
