ok.
this started a LONG while ago.
She will lick herself and make holes in herself. She was eating Instinct I believe, the dog version had lead in it; she was constipated on it. So, I changed her to the what the vet recommended, Hills Science Diet.
She still licks holes in herself.
I went to another vet, we did a month of steroids, antibiotics when ever it happens... Finally, he gave me a cream and said put her in the Zen collar when it happens to keep her from licking and put this cream on the parts she breaks open. Later give her a bath to get the cream off.
This has been the cycle.
ON Facebook. the persian breeder page recommended I get her on a limited ingredient food. I found Oreijen that is n't spelled right: ITS TOO EXPENSIVE!
I half her Hills Science Skin and Stomach with the Fish Orijen dry food. . At night I give her 1/2 can of wet Hills Science Diet.
She over grooms the same spots, under her neck on her shoulder and imbetween her leg and where her stomach meets.
When she has the collar on, she drags it through poo and pee..I'm forever washing it...Not only that, she has long hair and is unable to clean her bumm which she presses into the floor and carpet when I'm not there to wipe it for her.

I got her an open litter box, and pine letterbox, and we have been experimenting with that because she has mobility issues.. It's funny, I bought pet stairs for the bed, and she climbs the mattress like a tall tree..
I don't get her.

Occassiaonlly I give her the cat lax the vet gave me when I asked for it. She has muti advantage for cats: heartworm, fleas, hookworm, roundworm, and ear mites monthly. For two cats it's $80 every 3 months. The 15lb bag of oriejin is $100. The Hill's science diet is $30 for 15 lbs, my other cat eats this; she eats everything. She has been scratching her fur in front of her ears bald. She is 8mo old, and a persian also.

Oh my gosh, poor baby!

I have a couple of thoughts - I'm wondering, can you stop the advantage? Even just on a trial basis?

Also, is this all dry food? Can you find canned/wet food such as Merrick Backcountry or Natural Balance, Red Barn, Tiny Tiger...

And, this isn't a cure but it will ease her itchiness and discomfort;
Chamomile tea is extremely soothing, as well as being antibacterial and antifungal. DO use the plain chamomile commercial tea bags, as those are all German chamomile, medicinally active and safe for cats. The English variety is useless and toxic to cats. ALL COMMERCIAL chamomile tea bags are German, BTW, so just grab a box at the grocery store, brew a cup, and chill before using.

Note that it can also be used internally for anxiety.
You might additionally consider getting her professionally trimmed, at least a hygiene trim which would help with the bum cleaning issues, and then keep up with it.

Have you tried cat music for her - even if she's not stressed from environmental/other feline and animal issues the skin condition is definitely stressful. There's spotify, youtube, RelaxMyCat and MusicForCats...

I am running out of wet food. I could pick up some kinds you mentioned. It isn't stress that has her moody, its the collar that I put on her. She can reach the last part of the tail and her toes.

I'm probley going to get them both tested for ringworm. I have the foot cream. I'm thinking of putting it on. anti fungal. see if it helps. I won't know until the skin heals up. I won't put the anti fungal on broken skin, I think that is bad.

I'm no expert about the cream.

Try just wet food for her for a week or so and see if it helps :)
ok as soon as i get $200 back from this expensive pet food! I'll go that route. Do they have to be the brands you mentioned? Is there an article on this food change and reasoning I can read?

What are you feeding your other cat? You don't know yet if the dry food is the issue.

No, you don't have to use the brands I mentioned, those are just brands of food that are decent cat food.

Try the cat music, it can be surprisingly effective :)
I checked ou tête article. the more I read, the more I think ring worm. I washed off the stuff from the vet. And applied the over the counter anti fungal cream. It seems to me something popped out of her fur when I was putting on the cream in the area. This is stupid, on my part. A year of this, and after seeing 3 vets... I figure out that she has ringworm a $9 fix. Do you know how much money I spent on this? I was going to a pet dermatologist.
I did wash her e collar. I had to put it back on wet.
I gave her regular dose of advantage today
Yesterday everyone got baths.
The other cat is not showing signs of any skin problems. Weird.
After I put the cream on her, sh was really pur ry and cuddly. At least she's ok with all this.

I've looked at them. Merrick seems like the best. I don't know how much these all cost..

I like taste of the wild - my boy gets it as one of his kibbles although it is heavy on peas and potatoes.

In case this is of value, here's some more information;
there is a fungicide spray available at tractor supply stores. its usually in the horse care section but it can be used on dogs, cats, goats and ect. it will stain the fur pink for a while though

I think the topical anti fungal will get it. I have some ovitrol from a kitten left. They already have advantage. I've signed up at Chewy for Taste of the Wild. It's cheaper than Hills Science diet skin and stomach any way.

I'll keep you updated with the skin. I looked, and the inflammation is gone with the anti fungal cream. I've let her out of the cone thing for a little while...
Thanks for the information and advice!
I wish you had dog/beaty/cleaning/decorating/relationships/career advice as well!
