4 pm solids in soup 💩🍲.

Unexpected. But not unmanageable.

One and done.

Probably the antibiotic messing with her gut biome. But I’ll give her the benefit of the doubt and not act too quickly to correct this time. I don’t want to swing things in the other direction too far or too fast.
True.

I’m not sure, are you still giving her the salmon oil? Try cutting out all sources of fish. Krista is a beauty!

She gets a small squirt of salmon oil once every two weeks just enough to get her to eat her chemotherapy medicine meal. I guess she’s over the anchovy flavoring from the compounding pharmacy. Other than that, no fish for her anymore.

4am 🍲💩. All soup and no poop. 😿

But it was fully contained and one and done.

Okay. So 4pm to 4am wasn’t increased frequency. It just wasn’t a healthy consistency. Instead of adding yeast which seems to slow her down, I’ll try a smidgen of probiotic instead. I’ll put it in her lunch meal. It will likely be too late for a 4 pm edition (if she’s still on schedule.) But it could make a difference with the 4am.

An order for Rawz rabbit in the 5.5 oz cans that I placed maybe a month ago is finally being shipped. I totally forgot about it. It was one of those things where the site said it was sold out but still let me place the order.

Well, now this is awkward seeing as I moved away from the 5.5 oz cans since the 3 oz'ers were all I could find and easier to mix the two rabbit flavors together. I believe I also have an unopened case of 5.5 oz cans from another reseller that I totally expected them to cancel the order. I went from drought to flood fast. I will be super-stocked on the 5.5 oz cans of the rabbit pate.

The irony is that I'm likely needing to re-order a case each of the 3 oz soon. 🤦‍♂️

Too late to cancel those 5.5s?

Almost true to schedule, we had a great 💩 at 4:30.

Then about 20 minutes later, she had the soup 🥣 round reminding me the importance of placing pee pads beneath the boxes. We lost another one. Thank you for your service.

But no further bonuses or poop pukes.

Still. I can't help but think that's nutrients she possibly didn't absorb.

The probiotics only went into the lunch meal. We were expecting this poop soup. To be honest, I was pretty impressed with the poop that preceded the soup. It's not all soup today. Maybe her 4am will be better.

We had a pudding 💩. Some solids but mostly mush. Then she followed that almost immediately with a round of chocolate sauce. Entirely liquid. No carpet gifts from either end. 👍 I wish she would put the liquid poops in the plastic litter boxes instead of the egg crate disposables we're still using. But they are low sided and she seems to prefer them. I use wipes to basically fray the pooped on surface away after cleaning the mess. Maybe next time I'm at PFE, I'll buy another set and retire these.

Krista has another follow-up appointment with the surgeon next Monday. That will have been a month of this antibiotic. I'll do what I can to get her through this last week. But then I'm putting my foot down and demanding that she gets a break from this. She's even skinnier than before. I didn't think that was possible. And where she's going to come up with any more weight to lose is beyond me. She needs to be given a chance to gain weight again now that we know what was causing all that inflammation and grief. In the meantime, I'll put a smidgen of probiotic in her overnight meal as well as her lunch time smidgen.

And she's staring at me for her next meal...

Wouldn't you think they'd make laminated cardboard disposables? Those egg crate things are abysmal. One HINT of anything and they're really not usable.

*PRAYERS* for Krista to be able to put some weight on! Tar has gotten pretty skinny so we're in the cat-building mode right now.

I’m encouraged that she climbed into my chair without my help tonight. She’s getting more stable. But she still climbs onto the bed more than she jumps. I wonder if the weight she lost has robbed her of valuable muscle mass. She used to jump. She doesn’t really jump as much as climb now. I have been pretty lazy in the kitchen knowing the pan on the stove is in no danger of being cleaned by her. For now.

I really want us to be done with the antibiotic already. It’s like she finally caught a break when we discovered that her poop issues for months was an inflammatory reaction. But no sooner did we get back to normal, healthy pooping, the antibiotic is ripping up her gut.

She needs to catch a break.

At least she seems alright with the two week chemo schedule.

Alright. Time for a sleep sprint before her next poop sometime on the overnight.

A perky Krista started tentatively climbing over me and singing her feed me song.

“Smelly cat, smelly cat, what am I feeding you?”

“Did you poop?“

I strapped on the head lamp and went box to box looking for her offering. I finally get to one that looks like it had a huge smelly pee in it.

Well. That must be it. It doesn’t look like enough though.

Until I went to scoop it. It was a poop iceberg. A sunken poop 💩 soup🍲. Or she did a decent job of burying it.

It was in a plastic box too. 👍 Made cleaning the walls much easier.

I’m going to review the last week or so. I’m thinking the last time she barfed was the last time I gave her the yeast. And that’s why I’m hesitant to give her the yeast again. Though that’s exactly what I’m supposed to give her for antibiotic soup poops.

She just had another smidgen of probiotics with second dinner. So maybe the next poop will be better. 🤞Before it gets worse again with the next antibiotic dose. 🤦🏼‍♂️

How much longer does she need to be on the antibiotics, or do you know at this point? They really do tear a lot of people (and cats -- cats are people, though, aren't they?) up. I really don't like them at all and won't take them unless it's absolutely necessary.

I'm really proud of Tar. She does do a visual check before jumping now, but she does jump and she does attain her goal. But yes, I think weight loss combined with aging (and possibly effects of what's going on with her medically speaking) may well contribute to loss of muscle mass. If she hasn't been as active, though, she could just be out of tone. I know when I am not able to work out for a few days, I really feel it .

I didn't use to worry about her weight loss and muscle loss (as much) as long as she was still getting around and making her jumps and doing the cat things she enjoys. But lately, she doesn't get around much anymore. She spends much of her time in that hide hole in the tree she just found after a year and a half. She comes out to tell me when she's hungry, she does spend the afternoons in the sun or just lazing about where she can see me and guard the entrance to the office, and she does spend part of the night sleeping next to me. I'm not concerned that she's hiding too much. But I am sad that she doesn't want to spend time in her favorite tree or on the bench. Or even coming up to the desk to sit in the filling station. Or coming up onto the kitchen counter via the Katris setup. I'm hoping it's all related to the antibiotics and that when I take her off them next week, she'll start coming around again. Her surgery will have been a month ago next Tuesday. The doc wanted her on a course of "at least a month." But I'm going to put my foot down and say a month is plenty--that she's not in the best shape for long-term antibiotic use. And that having found the source of her inflammatory troubles all this time, she deserves a break from all this poop nonsense and a chance to finally enjoy a meaningful remission. And as soon as we're done with the antibiotics, I'll start her on the Kitty Biome aka poop pills (fecal transplant from healthy cats.)
