Didn't think I'd ever meet another litterbox vigilante. Chairman has me trained: when I hear her scratching her box, I drop everything including sleep and head on over. Though those days have passed. "How high?" is my favorite question.
Krista has had Clostridium and GI lymphoma (currently in remission) and a whole lot of poopy adventures in between. I’m traumatized into vigilance.

Currently she’s confined to a portable dog play pen because she’s on strict activity restriction, post-surgery (ventral bulla osteotomy.).

And if I wasn’t awake at just the right time last night, I wonder if all three 💩 would have made it to the same tiny box. Or if she’d put the other two on the pen floor. This is also why I keep a clean litterbox at the ready just outside the pen. If she’s used the one inside, I swap it out for a clean one as soon as I notice it, and clean the dirty offline.

She normally has four litterboxes in a 1 bedroom apartment. 3 in a back hallway and 1 in the front room. If I’m lucky, the first two rounds will make a box. It’s anyone’s guess whether she’ll put round three, if it comes to that, in a box or on the carpet. In the past, when she would pass that much poop, it was inevitable that she would barf after. That’s why I talk about bonus rounds and poop pukes.

Lately, she doesn’t always have bonus rounds, and the poop pukes aren’t as inevitable anymore.🤞 But it’s still less trouble to remain hyper-vigilant than to wake up to double ended carpet bombing. 🤦🏼‍♂️😿

The trauma is real, I know first-hand. I hope life gets simpler for you both soon ❤

Hmm. Maybe I'm just looking at your avatar more closely because it does seem new. At any rate, it's wonderful! Love the little blep.
And yes, when they scratch in the middle of the night, we are instant-on. Good that Krista got them all on target.

She climbed onto me for a belly ride. And climbed off me when she had her fill. That’s nothing new. What is new is that she didn’t tumble or spill on either the mount or dismount. 👍

She's looking healthier. But she has a slight head tilt. No nystagmus though. Maybe she's just discerning, dubious, and suspicious. 🧐

Great 💩👍. No bonuses.

But... 🤮

She did look a little 🤢 most of the day. Maybe the antibiotic caught up to her.

But she looks a lot better now that she got it out.

I tried to 🤺 her. Twice. The first one just spilled right out of her. The second one was a little leaky. But I think between the two, she retained at least half a dose. 🤞🤷‍♂️

I’ll sneak her a snack between 2nd dinner and first breakfast late tonight. Probably about 1 or 2 am.

EDIT: I take it back. We did have bonus. Two more. 💩💩🙀. They both made the box. Amazing! Hopefully we’ll have no further excitement tonight or overnight. 🤞🙏

No further excitement on the night or the overnight. I snuck her a 1am snack to make up for what she gave up. And having pooped before dinner, there was nothing but pee to clean in the morning box. She finished the first breakfast and she’s finishing second breakfast the duck-biotic in it. 🦆

VERY GOOD! Now if I can just get Tar to eat some lunch.

💩🍲

We had some poop soup and some souped poop. Her 🦆biotic dose is higher in the compounded form. I am guessing we were using a smaller dose because we couldn’t do less than quartering the pill. I’ll ask the Dr tomorrow if we can lower the dose a little if she continues to soup her poops.

Speaking of which...

If her Dr appt goes well tomorrow morning, tonight may be her last night in the pen.

💩💩💥

She had a great poop. I was thinking, “hey alright. She’s adapting to the higher dose.” 👍

Then she had a pudding explosion that was only partially contained in the box. I’m glad I picked up these baby-safe surface wipes the other weekend. It made cleaning up the pen easier while feeling more confident that I wasn’t leaving noxious fumes or chemicals behind. It took many wipes and paper towels but I got the pen clean again.

I will talk to the doc this morning about adjusting the antibiotic dose. I don’t know if either of us wants to do two more weeks of these blowouts. I looked it up and the 1/4 pill was the low range. What she’s getting now is not the highest range but pretty close to it. I would think we could find a middle dose that would work better. She was tolerating the low dose very well.

If doc advises against a lower dose, then we’ll have to get s. boulardii back in her diet. She ate so much of the stuff when we were battling her clostridium last year. I don’t know how she feels about its return. She liked the yeast when we started. She was getting pretty sick of the stuff by the time we finished. I’d prefer to adjust the dose and not need it. But I also would like that ear infection to go away and never come back.

That was more excitement than either of us needed this early in the morning. At least I started early enough (4:30ish) that I’ll have plenty of sleep before next breakfast. I still sleep in two to three hour sprints. And hopefully this means she’ll be cleaned out before the doc visit so she won’t poop the carrier. 🤞

Dr cleared her for regular activities. She is free to leave the SHU and join gen pop once more. We can also reduce her antibiotic dose so it won’t be quite so messy on the back nine. Great appointment. But we have to return again in two weeks for another checkup. And she could be on this antibiotic for another month. 😔

Still - overall it is good news!
It is indeed! I just want her to be done with antibiotics and vet visits sooner than later. But I understand the doc wants to make sure she's getting better and that we don't ever have to repeat this surgery. I'm very relieved that we can reduce the antibiotic dose. I don't want Krista to lose anymore weight seeing as we have had no luck in regaining lost weight.

She's been released from the pen. I got her a new placemat for her eating area and she took no issue with it. I'm sure she'll still fling food and make a mess. But likely less of it will get in the carpet now.

She's still walking like a cowgirl. She still has a slight head tilt. But she's navigating her Katris very well. She's already up in her favorite tree. If I can figure out where else she needs the help, I will definitely buy her more Katris pieces. But I think she's already got her favorite spots covered. Two L pieces on either side of the bed. The path to her tree and the media bench. And the big path up to the kitchen counter whenever she wants to resume meal prep supurrvision.

Sounds like you're all set for a complete recuperation!

We already had a messy dismount. But she was undeterred. She initially rocked back on her haunches like she was going to make the jump. But then something clicked in her and she rememebered/realized she didn't have to and walked right back up the Katris again. The last time she was allowed to traverse the Katris, the day before her surgery, she was having an enormously messy time of it. So this is definitely an improvement. I can't wait until she joins me on the desk for the first time, and sits in her filling station. Her office tree has stairs just for this purpose. I got that for her last year when she had Horner's.
