I had a relative tell me, and I quote, "It's just an overblown flu to take Trump down." And what does she watch all day? FOX News. My sister and I keep telling her that they have a right-winged bias and that it isn't the best news source to watch, but she won't listen.
Sure, the Spanish Flu killed 50 Million people world wide and so far the Corona virus has killed "only" just under 500,000 world wide, the ordinary flu kills 300,000 to 500,000 world wide every year. It usually subsides when warm weather sets in. The Corona virus is still going strong although it is darn hot in many places, there is no vaccine unlike the ordinary flu which gets an update every year as the virus changes and your relative and others like her think this virus is no worse than the ordinary flu virus. How does that connect with Trump? Does she think somebody made it up in a lab to make Trump look bad? And if so who? The Chinese? What would they have to gain from that? The logic escapes me and probably other's too.
I turn on FOX NEWS every so often just to see what the other side has to say, one can't argue one's own side without knowing the other side's opinion, and I am overwhelmed by the ignorance and outright lies and conspiracy theories being spouted there.
I wonder where the people live who believe this nonsense. I keep hearing that it is mainly the middle of the country and the south, if so then how are people different there from those who live elsewhere? Is there something in the air or water that keeps them from thinking for themselves? Just saying.
A lot of people think that way around where I live. It's very frustrating.
I don't know. Like you, my relative's logic escapes me.your relative and others like her think this virus is no worse than the ordinary flu virus. How does that connect with Trump? I think a lot of it has to do with culture and the way a person was brought up. Also, not being able to examine the two sides of an issue, which is what I try to do.I turn on FOX NEWS every so often just to see what the other side has to say, one can't argue one's own side without knowing the other side's opinion, and I am overwhelmed by the ignorance and outright lies and conspiracy theories being spouted there.

Very true and sad. In my area, there's not much diversity either.Lola3791 that's definitely true around here. Most people didn't graduate and just work on a farm or low income job (NOT knocking it but pointing out no one goes to college and gets diversity) all we have here are middle aged white good old boys. I've had a lot of run ins that are scary to me as someone who's got an outwardly Jewish look to them. And when you try to educate people they get mad and are like 'Well I saw on Fox news and they aren't going to lie to me' or 'my preacher told me this' so it's ignorance and that they don't care that there's a world outside of this small town.
Awwww.....she is a little doll..love Conner soothing herSo, Ali was in her bassinet crying. I was in the bathroom and couldn't grab her. Suddenly, she stopped. Connor had jumped in the bassinet and laid down beside her. She went straight to sleep. I moved him, of course. I don't want to risk him snuggling too close to her face and accidentally suffocating her. But still, thanks dude. Good kitty.

Happened when I finished my previous program. I had a bad bout of depression. For those of you who have finished college, is it normal to feel depressed immediately afterward? Or is it just me?
yes, i think it's normal. YOu spend a lot of time working towards a goal that's entirely yours to make or break and when you accomplish it, your next goal (getting a job) is way more out of your control. Or it's like you've been filling a cup and now you have to dump it out (and make use of it)Happened when I finished my previous program. I had a bad bout of depression.

Very well put.yes, i think it's normal. I finished grad school but had basically burnt out by the last quarter. I went for journalism but lost any interest I actually had in it for a long time. Not to be pessimistic though!! You just need to set a new goal (it can be vague or small, just something you feel like you are moving toward)
