I thought I did good getting things planted but it's late for me too. DD harvested almost another pint of peas yesterday and we ate them for dinner. They are almost done.

My pole beans are rapidly shooting up the netting now. I'm starting to worry it's not tall enough. My beans are full of blossoms and I spotted a few very tiny beans forming. I had to spray my summer squash and zucchini. They are probably only half grown but I was seeing white on the leaves. I haven't even grown any in the last few years because of powdery mildew. This looks a little different. But today they do look better so I'm going to keep an eye. DD is already talking about zucchini bread.

susanm9006 susanm9006 Beautiful lilies! What type are the light pink ones? Never seen those before, but love it! Also, what are those flowers on the right with the red flower. The leaves remind me of a native plant, but I cannot quite tell.

Upward facing, unscented, bowl-shaped flowers in June / July on plants about 2- to 3-feet tall are Asiatic hybrids developed by Jan DeGraff of the Oregon Bulb Farm. Among the easiest of lilies for the home gardener.

The lettuce, swiss chard, and carrots were fertilized last week for the first time, and boy, looks like they received a boost! Carrots still look kinda sad to me, but have grown more leaves in the past week.

Mixed swiss chard, lettuce and carrots.

Catnip seems to be growing slowly

Strawberries, but I'm not convinced any of these are actually strawberries... don't look like it yet! Think these are all fuzzies growing!

Large tomato--- cannot believe how much faster this one is growing compared to the cherry tomato plant! I know they are supposed to grow bigger, but also surprised the plant seems to be growing faster!

Indoor cherry tomato growing very well!
SAM_0458.JPG

Indoor rose kit germinated. The kit said 30-60 days germination rate, but here we are 1-2 weeks after sowing! What a surprise!
SAM_0456.JPG

Basil! The first herb kit started. My room has been nice and warm and I believe this is promoting faster germination rates as this one was supposed to take 1-2 weeks, but was just a couple of days after sowing!

I also rained today.... So these pictures were later in the day today and prior pictures were from earlier today.... what happened!!! :flail::flail::flail::flail::flail::flail::flail: My plants deflated from the rain! Hope they recover
SAM_0462.JPG

Partially deflated from rain.

A couple succulent updates. This one is getting enough sun or sun stressed and new growth is showing some pink! <3 The succulents have been staying outside from 7 am to about 12-1 pm the past few days after being acclimated to increased outside time the past couple of weeks.
SAM_0447.JPG

The picture doesn't do the color justice, but the plant is like a light aqua green! So pretty!
SAM_0449.JPG

Lots of growth on this one! Although, just found it may be root rotting... Hopefully cutting the bottom off will help and the plant will reroot.

The pink lilies are Asiatic lily Tiny Athlete. Don’t know the name of the red lily because a neighbor gave me them, and I don’t remember what the reddish pink small flower plant is. It starts out almost red and then fades to light pink

It was breezy here today. When I went to water the gardens this evening a bunch of my corn was leaning. It's wind protected on 3 sides but I don't know what I can do for the 4th. I think it's big enough to do the side dressing now. I went through and stood the worst leaners up better and moved a little soil around the roots. I think I should have firmed the ground better when I planted them. I had left wooden stakes in the ground at both ends of each row when I planted them. So I got a spool of twine and ran a string down each side of the corn. I don't know if that's a proper technique; but I hope it helps. From what I read; once I side dress it with blood meal it should help the corn shoot up. The tallest ones are getting close to knee height.

It has been a lot of years since I planted corn but I remember going through the patch and mounding dirt around each plant several times during their growth. I think this was to help them stay upright during their growth.

Thank you I’m going to do

Thank you. I’m going to do that then. I think we used all the soil I bought but I can buy another bag. I have a pile of dirt from my yard; but it’s mostly sand.

I picked the last of the peas today. I think anyway. We’ve had 3 cherry tomatoes too.:yummy:

I splurged on a new camera today- one that has an actual eyepiece so I don't have to worry about finding an image when the sun is behind me. These are the first pictures.

I long ago forgot the name of this clematis, but it has purple bell-shaped blossoms that last most of the season.

This is Michele's butterfly weed. We planted it last year, and while it grew, it wasn't until this year that it blossomed.

Next is Michele's 'Must See' lilies.

And finally, our 'Rockin' Red' dianthus

Beautiful pictures!! Sometimes I miss using my point & shoot camera. My cell pics look good online; but not in prints.

My corn looked better today. I still fixed one but the string seems to be helping.

My pole beans are reaching the top of the net now. I’m nervous hoping I did ok with that and it will hold.

I still have my pocket-sized camera, but I was getting dissatisfied with it. Too many times I lost shots because I couldn't follow a moving object with the screen. We recently had a flyover by an actual D-Day survivor C-47 and a P-51, and all I got was a piece of them as they disappeared behind a house.
A couple more flower shots. First is a Sweet Alyssum

And next is a Stella d'Oro

Ooo fun! I bet my grandpa would love to see a p51 flyover. He worked on their radios during ww2.

Tomorrow is supposed to be hotter so I’m going to try to get some things done today. I think I can pull the peas today and replace them with more limas. I just hope its not too hot for new sprouts. I might have to water more often.

That looks good!! MIL used to pick lettuce from window boxes right before dinner. I’ve never tried that because I see too many bugs munching here. I think whatever kinds she grew she could pick some leaves and it would just keep growing more.
