I finally clicked on this and went into youtube rather than just listening to it here (which I did several times too ), and read the comments - the lead singer was 14 years old at the time, and her father and other relatives chimed in and commented - the entire thing is just wonderful.

MANY thanks that you posted this!!

Not sure about the category/theme for this next one - maybe

I have the privilege to work with 2 rock band members, a song writer and a band promoter and they lead me to a lot of non mainstream music that is really good.
That one I posted is from the Dublin college university where they take popular songs and sing them in Gaelic which I think just adds to the songs. There is some amazing talent out there once you get away from the money hungry pop music scene that they feed us on..

Forgot to add..the Native American one you posted is really good..got the guys here standing around listening to it.

For the covers theme--I have been getting both versions stuck in my head these days.
song title: 뱀이다 (참아주세요)
In English: It's a snake! (Be patient/hold back)

Original (most popular version)

It's a "trot" song. Trot is kind of like Korea's country music? It's popular among older people but has recently become more popular with younger people. It has a really interesting history stemming from the Japanese Occupation (and japanese style of Enka) and then adding elements of American music during the post-World War/Korean war era.

This particular song is about someone finding snakes, frogs, and other things in the forest to give to their father for his good health, but he eats too much and soon there are no more snakes or frogs, so the singer is imploring him to hold back.

The cover, by Galaxy Express, giving it a little Motorhead treatment:

Music is so hard for me to narrow down, and I like to have playlists and soundtracks depending on what I'm doing! But one genre I especially love is anything 80s.

It was finding my mum's copy of the DARE album by The Human League that got me hooked on 80s music, particularly all things synth and new wave. If I had to choose one song from that album it would have to be Don't You Want Me, but if I had to pick ONE song to be my favourite of all time, then it is this classic by Giorgio Moroder and The Human League's very own Phil Oakey:

I got caught up a bit on my listening, then fell behind again. But that's good, right. Means lots of music is getting posted. 🎸🎻🎺🎷

Here's a song for everyone in the middle of the heat wave. :sunshine:

Roxabelle Roxabelle my computer says "video unavailable" but I purraise you anyway. (I don't know why it says unavailable, I'm in USA now.) 🌺 :silver: 🌷:)
