Wedgewood just made renewing her chemo medicine so easy. Even though it disappeared from her profile on the web site, they still had everything I needed from last time including prior payment information, the vet's fax number, and the vet's shipping address. Since it's temperature sensitive and the delivery services are playing ding-dong-ditch with packages these days due to the pandemic, it's even more important that it ships to the vet's office rather than spoiling on my doorstep.

We broke into a new case of her food this morning. Even though it's all from the same batch date on the bottom of the can, there's slight differences between every case. Last case was a little on the chewy side. This one is smoother. I can see the difference both in prepping it for her as well as picking up much cleaner plates. Hopefully this means more is going into her than into my carpet now.

I gave her her second smidgen of the green stuff (Spark.) I do believe she likes the stuff. When I opened the bag, she went from laying on the kitchen floor to joining me on the counter. Her plate looks awfully clean too. We'll do another couple of days at the smidgen dose before we move up to a pinch (1/16 tsp.) I think the eventual recommended dose for her is 1/4 tsp (which would be two dashes.) But it's better to give her too little to start than too much.

I wonder if we're going to get another poop soon. Her overnight took some pressure off to be sure. But it wasn't nearly enough. Hopefully she'll drop a poop leg before dinner so I don't have to worry about her doing it directly after dinner and bringing up her dinner and pred in the process.
Sounds like quite a few good things in your lives, all at once! We had this additive called TAIL MIX that they loved initially, and then kind of went MEH on. I've still got some. It's expensive, but it's full of good stuff. Oh well. *It's chicken-based, so Krista wouldn't want it.* We've got another one called Missing Link-Feline Formula, that's got beef, "fish", oyster, salmon, and various other ingredients -- it's called an "Omega-3 Superfood Supplement" -- but the reception to that has been lukewarm. No chicken in the formula.

Missing Link has bone meal. That would send things in the wrong direction.

We had an after dinner 💩! 👍 It was a big one. That’s Miralax and psyllium. 😳

She went back to the box for a round two that didn’t happen. This may not end well. But for now, she seems to have made it through. She did her booty duty, a brief groom, and she’s going to nap it off in the office. For now...🤞

The first can I opened this morning looked and smelled off. Fortunately Krista took one or two bites and agreed with me. I mean I know rabbit can be a stinky meat. When I butcher them for her raw, I call them “smelly chickens” (because they look like chicken but smell decidedly stronger.) But this was, “I hope she rejects this because I don’t want to serve from this can the rest of the day.”

The next can was how we expected it to be. Looking at the cleaned breakfast plate, Krista agreed.

That first can was poured down the sink. If we encounter another like it, I’ll have to contact Rawz. I may even take a sample to the vet to run a PCR and see if there’s a microbial reason for the awful smell and off color.

I would!!! Wise Krista for rejecting that bad can. Yeah, it peeves me when that kind of thing happens. You just never know. I just got over the worst food poisoning I've ever had, and I'm thinking it could have been from one of two things I bought at my regular store, but in reality, you never know. Eating can be a risky business!

The risk is larger for Krista who is on immuno-suppressive drugs. It's a big reason why I'm not feeding her raw food anymore. Under normal circumstances, her stomach and digestive tract should be able to handle the bacteria load. But one bad bug may be too much for her right now. I'd rather clean up her disasters than have her go through clostridium again.

She had an epic 💩😲👍👏

It was basically an ultrasound negative. 😹

But it looks as if it was a one and done (if you could call that one--more like two and a half!) And she's up on the media bench, sleeping off her afternoon snack.

She loves the Spark powder. Once again, opening the bag to scoop out her serving brought lil miss ground hugger on to the countertop, trying to eat her portion before I serve it.

An excellent post! Really glad she loves the powder, aren't you? Nothing makes me happier than knowing that those I love are really happy and enjoying something -- especially something good for them!

I've been sitting here for the last hour waiting for the other poop to fall. Or rather, hoping it doesn't. Because anything bonus after that last one is most certainly going to spell trouble. She only has so much colon. I feel bad about how much more poop she's producing with both the psyllium and the miralax. But if it's keeping her somewhat regular and preventing disasters, then that's certainly better than the alternative.

Yes, I'm relieved that she enjoys the new additions--the Spark powder and the salmon oil especially--and none of them seem to be making matters worse. Today I increased her Spark dose from a smidgen to a pinch (1/16 tsp.) So she's at about 1/4 of the recommended dose now. I'll give this several more days before upping to the dash (1/8 tsp or a half dose.)

Her syringes were just delivered. I can poke her with a B-12 tomorrow.

I’m trying not to take it personally that when I work she sleeps in the front room and when I’m done working and retire to the front room, she wants to sleep in the office.

She’ll show up when she wants to be fed again. And that belly ride between breakfasts.😻 And she’ll sleep on the bed overnight. In between singing and eating. 🤦‍♂️

She gave me a 3am 💩 to match her 3 pm. If that isn’t regular! Now how do we get her on an 8 and 8 schedule? 🙏

Poor girl is having trouble getting it all out. She had a round two “jumper” that straddled the edge of a back box. Then she had two hardwood squirts. And she’s been grooming her backside and tail for the better part of all this time.

But, I think she escaped it all without barfing. 🤞

The hardwood squirts are an improvement over the carpet campaigns. But again, she was trying to clean up for me. 🤢

She’ll get a B12 and chemo later today. And perhaps I’ll skip a psyllium portion tomorrow to see if we can make her poop size more manageable.

She was understandably less excited about first breakfast this morning after all the poopscapades just a few short hours prior. She left most of it on the plate after taking her chemo. Once again, I had to mix her chemo with salmon oil to get her to take it. I know the "don't use after" date is coming up soon. I wonder if the flavor or the anchovy flavoring "turns" as it gets closer to that date. The good news is that her next prescription for this is already in, charged, and being processed as we speak. It will likely ship out next week.

She was a little late for second breakfast. I was mostly grateful for this because I needed that extra hour of sleep. But once she finished first breakfast, she became decidedly more eager for second breakfast. I got a serenade and two belly rides. 😻 "I must give in and feed her before 9am or the cat rock (Music For Cats) that comes on will put me into an unwakeable slumber."

I thought she was eager for second breakfast. She even showed up on the counter for it. But I think once I started cooking my breakfast, she became more interested in that. I looked over and she barely touched second breakfast. "So you're interested in what's going on in the kitchen?" It was as good a time as any to poke her. 🤺 Another beautiful shot. She took it like a pro with zero reaction. Well, not exactly. She was super excited about the treat after. It makes me feel bad that all the times she jumped and yipped during her shot I've been doing those wrong. Well, it seems like I finally figured out the right technique. No jumping, no yipping, no wet spots. She squishes down on command, patiently takes her shot, and then eagerly looks for the reward after. That also got her appetite working again as she went back to second breakfast for a hardy first pass. She has several hours until lunch to finish the remainder.

I skipped the psyllium in second breakfast to see if we can get a more manageable poop size with once-a-day psyllium and once-a-day Miralax.

Have you thought of Cat Classical, by any chance?

I tried something called "Relax My Cat" that was about 10 minutes of ads beforehand. Not very relaxing.

I like Music For Cats. Krista likes Music For Cats. It's developed by a cat lover who tested it on a number of cats to determine what sounds cats find pleasing. It has a lot of ticking, heartbeats, and purring sounds along with the obligatory cello. 😸 I bought the album on Apple Music and program my Sonos soundbar to play it on repeat starting from 9am every morning. Krista sleeps next to or against the soundbar most of the day. 😻 If that isn't a testimonial...

I've got some music for cats, but for some reason I just looked and couldn't find it. I'm thinking I have that one. I just play KUSC.org (classical for all species, no ads) from when I get up until I have dinner and look at the murder porn, nature shows, or ???.

I bought both albums on Apple Music. But unfortunately, there is a volume difference between the two albums. I can't do a mixed playlist. We both prefer the first album though.

When she was in the hospital last year, I put the first one on an iPod and brought both the iPod and a battery pack and left them in the basket outside her cage. Then each day when I would visit, I would just bring a fresh charged battery pack and trade out the one from the previous day. That way she had her cat rock, a familiar soundtrack from home, with her the whole stay.

One night, a receptionist's brother's dog stayed overnight in the cage below Krista. The receptionist reported that this dog normally has issues with hospital stays. But he was calm the entire time. She credits Krista's cat rock.

I also bring the iPod and slip it into her carrier when we go to the vet now. I joke with the vet staff that my cat is likely the only one in their office that comes with a soundtrack.

Not only are you really loving of Krista, but you're also very thoughtful of everyone in there. Good on ya! Music IS helpful in healing if it's the right kind of music.
