Gosh, I don't know what that could be. Could he have burned that pad? It looks like the skin is peeling near the discolorization. What does it feel like? Could it be a scab? Of course, it it were a wound, it would probably hurt him, and you said it doesn't appear to bother him in the least. Perhaps you could send a picture to your Vet?

I'm going to the vet personally on Saturday, I'll let you know what it was.

I doubt he got burned because he sits only on the balcony and it's not so hot atm.

anyone else has any ideas?

Since it is only one paw that looks like that, you could be right about a bacterial or fungal infection. On the chance that it is, you could try using a chamomile tea bag (standard grocery store brands, which are almost always German - you don't want English, nor any additives or flavorings), brew it in water, cool the liquid and dab it on that paw pad multiple times a day. The tea is an anti-bacterial/anti-fungal agent, but it contains both healing and soothing properties, which might help even if it isn't a bacterial/fungal issue. It is also safe for him to lick it.

You might consider rubbing the paw with a tiny drop of olive oil afterward to help with the dryness, if you think that would help - also safe to ingest if there is any remnants left.

Take pics daily, if needed, to compare to see if the paw is improving any. And, you can show the pics to the vet as well - maybe even send one to them now, if they accept pics, just to see what they might say.
