We had a 3pm 💩👍.

I don't think it was enough. But if she spreads her pooping out (chronologically, not geographically! 🤦‍♂️), it just might take the pressure off the next one.

She’s had three 💩💩💩 after second dinner. But so far 🤞, no carpet campaigns out either end.

I think she’s all pooped out.

🤦‍♂️
Looking at this picture, I just realized I still have a trash bag of old litter on the top step of her stairs to nowhere that never made it out of the apartment yesterday. I had just enough litter to change out one of her boxes. I will pick up another bag or two of litter and change out the others today.

Running out of litter=WORSE by far than running out of toilet paper.:eek2::eek3:

I use World's Best Litter (a bold claim to be sure!) It lasts forever! She pees against the walls so I tip the box and scoop the clump. The poops, being perfectly formed these days (except what hits the carpet 😔), means I lose very little litter to them. She spreads her pee around the four boxes. They eventually get low but I never run out. Worst case scenario, I consolidate a couple boxes and she's down to three until I can pick up more litter. In the case of yesterday, even with four boxes deployed, I still had a triplicate of one of the box types I use. I dumped the old box which is waiting in the shower for me to clean it and deployed the fresh box with the last of the fresh litter. I have to find a triplicate of the other type of box I use. Then I could very easily change out her boxes with no loss of service over a couple of days. Yeah. I may be on the spectrum. 😹

Oh yeah, I would definitely welcome you to the Club ;) *and I think it's a great Club to be in, too* I pretty much do that, too.

I think I just saw her release a small bit of poop as she was trying to determine if she was going to barf. Then she ate that small bit rather than let it soil the carpet. 🤢 What?! 😿 She did let a little toothpaste squirt loose on the carpet just a short time before that. (But that came up so easily with a wad of TP that I couldn’t even mark it for the hand wet vac.)

I think she’s trying to be a good girl, all things considered. After what looked like a poop snack, she moved to the hardwood near the boxes and squatted. I would have been somewhat okay with that. But then, after a few unproductive squeezes, she moved on further into a box to squeeze out a couple more toothpaste squirts. After some tense moments mid-butt groom where she would stop and look like she was debating the merits of 🤮, I think she and the carpet may have gotten through this. I’m waiting her out just a bit longer before we start second dinner.

I don’t think I’ll do double psyllium anymore since it’s not increasing poop frequency. Just making the once a day that much more difficult for her. I’ll taper it back tonight. Perhaps we’ll try Miralax from tomorrow. Rather than bulking her stool, let’s try softening it instead.

Oh there we go. I thought she might appreciate some water. So I put my water glass down for her.😻 She has her own. But she always wants to drink from mine instead.

It would be nice if she started singing for her meal. But this doesn’t look too distressed anymore.

She ate half of second dinner and now she’s sleeping it off in the office. Poor girl. She’ll bounce back soon enough though.

I've NEVER heard of a cat doing that! Dogs do it all the time but never cats. Strange. Hope she is feeling well and doing well today!

It was a dark room with only the light of the TV. But that’s what it looked like. One moment, she was sitting legs in the air with what looked like a toothpaste squirt of poop coming out of her. I thought she’d either stand up and squat squeeze it out or drag her bum. The next moment, I’m seeing her eat it. I didn’t see it hanging from her bum anymore but she was instead crouched on fours chewing on something. I have never heard of a cat doing that either. To her credit, for as much poop distress as she was in last night, only a very small squirt hit the carpet and no barf.

I also caught her licking her barf the other day.

Sure enough, though, she bounced back and finished second dinner and was ready for a midnight meal when I woke for it. She sang at her usual 5am hour. And I woke at 8am to her laying on my belly. She‘s resilient.

I think she’s more resilient than me. Starting tonight, I’m going to try putting her midnight meal in a feeder after second dinner. I am finding it harder and harder to sleep in sprints. I would like to try to sleep from shortly after second dinner to first breakfast (approx 10 pm to 5am) instead of these 2 or 3 hours at a time. I find myself pushing through intense sleep fog every time I wake to feed her like I haven’t slept enough or I woke too soon. I’ve never needed more than six hours of sleep. But I don’t remember the last time I got six in a row. I’m sure she (or my bladder) will still try to wake me throughout the night. But it will be much easier to pop the feeder for her than to prepare new meals.

If I were you I'd run those incidents by her doctor next time you talk, because she's seeking more nutrients/calories/food/??? than she has in regular form. IDK why, but she is.
Oh, yeah, I know how that is! Getting up 2 times a night is normal for me. Sometimes, three times. Sometimes, if something happens during the night that startles me, more. I want 8 hours. But I probably haven't gotten that for ??? The one thing I do is fall asleep in front of the TV EVERY. SINGLE. NIGHT. I wish it would be like normal people's sleep patterns, but who has that these days? *Hey, as long as you're up, you might as well use the time constructively, Krista thinks!*

I probably wouldn't get up if it weren't for Krista. I might wake up several times a night, but I would usually stay in bed and watch a little TV--I also sleep to the TV--before falling back asleep. I spend a good 10-20 minutes trying to rally through intense sleep fog each time I have to physically get up and prepare a meal for her. Preparing a meal is not a simple scoop and serve. I wash her current plate. I grab the previous plate. I have two identical plates (spectrum!) I weigh her portion into a baggie and run that under hot water until the food is warm (a few seconds to a minute at most.) Then I scoop in a dash of enzymes, and depending on the meal, sometimes a pinch of psyllium. Finally, I empty the bag onto the plate and "race" her to her spot. I always go slow enough to make it close. Then it's back to the sink to wash the baggie and spoon. Lately, I've been fixing a bowl of cereal and then back to the sink again to wash that before finally climbing back into bed and playing a phone game until I feel sleepy enough again. I would love to just set out feeders and simply pop them open for her if I wake (or she wakes me) close enough to a scheduled meal.

It's the first time I've seen her do either behavior. I'm still incredulous that that is what I even saw last night. I could have been hallucinating through my sleep fog. She does seem to be on a good recovery path since she's been getting the B-12. Although the disasters are still happening, they are less disastrous than before. And definitely not as frequent. Let's see how next week goes. She'll get another shot tomorrow.

I'm instant-on, all the time. My brain never shuts down. And I have read ALL NIGHT trying to get to sleep before. :sigh: I'm now into Science Channel -- abandoned places, weird phenomena, etc. along with true crime. My city gave us free e-library cards so I'm enjoying books again. Fortunately, my three (usually) settle in for the night pretty well although sometimes someone will get up for a drink and/or some crunchies.

No sooner did I finish typing that, she took a 💩👍 and then a 🤮🤦‍♂️😿. She did not try to lick her barf after. As soon as I brought out the hand vac (I use that first pass to get the solids), she zoomed up the Katris to wait for her replacement meal. It takes longer to clean both the hand vac and the upright then it does to clean her mess. Since it was close enough to lunch, I decided to give her an early lunch and a little bit extra too to replace what she just gave back. I didn't give her psyllium at second dinner last night. I wonder if that made it easier for her to have a morning poop. I did give her the smaller (smidgen = 1/32 tsp) psyllium dose this morning with second breakfast. I will not give her psyllium tonight and see what happens with a once a day.

After she ate her lunch, she showed up on the desk. She found a rubber band on the desk and snagged it. I quickly snagged it back from her. Clearly she's no worse for the wear.

I really wish her Kitty Biome kit would ship already. I could have driven to SF and bought it from the raw feeders coop by now. But this sleep fog that extends through most of the day now is making me less confident about that drive.

SO glad you got that rubber band before she ate it!!! I'm really vigilant about stuff like that. Those go right into a plastic bag in one of my tool drawers.

I didn't even know it was there. I don't usually have rubber bands. But I guess something I bought off ebay this past week (baseball cards), came packed in two cardboard pieces with a rubber band holding them together. If Krista hadn't snagged it right in front of me, I probably wouldn't have noticed it.

She came back into the office and was looking at me for some unknown reason. I fetched the laser pointer and she got ready to flatten even before I turned it on. "Yeah? You want to go?" I got about five seconds of play out of her before her arthritis or what not caught up. That's still five more seconds than most days. I got her to play with the rainbow shoelace the other day. But that didn't last long either. She wants to roll on her back for that. But she's got no fat pad on her back anymore. That's gotta hurt when floor meets spine/pelvis. Heck, even the other night when I was poopervising her and waiting her out before dinner, she showed up behind my chair to play with the shoelace tied to the back. Clearly she's got her moments where she's feeling better than before. Her play drive disappeared for a few months earlier this year. So I'll take however little play she wants to engage in. It's gotta break up the monotony of sleeping, eating, and lying around waiting for the next meal.
