I was at virtual Happy Hour via Zoom and the landscapers working outside kept buzzing by on those ride-on type lawn mowers. On the sidewalk. And waving hand held leaf blowers randomly around. I had to mute myself on Zoom so everyone couldn't hear the deafening noise :cringe::cringe: Closing the window didn't help nor did moving somewhere else in my unit. I wasn't going to hole up in the bathroom with the door closed. I know it's a big property so using the ride-on lawn movers to move around is easier than walking but still :bat: Lots of people are working from home now and doing meetings on Zoom. Even if the landscapers were just walking, those leaf blowers are super loud. I'm not sure if I should say something to management.

great news about the puppy! Glad he made it home.
I'm so happy. But you gotta hear this crazy story. My neighbor told my dad that the puppy likes to sit outside on his lap. He wanted to take a nap so he told the puppy, I'm gonna take a nap, will you be okay? And he said the puppy nodded his head yes.
You gotta be kidding me. Yeah, the puppy's like sure, I'll be over at my friend's house if you need me.

Scary times. We had a black man brutally killed by the Minneapolis police a few days ago. Protests and looting started in Minneapolis yesterday and has spread to where I live North St Paul and Maplewood, some 20 miles away today. All our malls, grocery stores and other stores are closed and being guarded. We have all been told to stay home.
I feel like joining the protests myself. I'm so angry and scared and hopeless and sad. . .this country is messed up.

Yes, I fully understand the emotions and demonstrations. Not sure though how looting Target stores in a 20 mile radius fits in.

I did discover why the violence spread to my part of town, though. Turns out the officer who killed the individual lives less than five miles from my house in a bordering community.

The last I saw 170 businesses were looted and/or vandalized. Some of these business owners were already having problems because of the shutdown. I understand the emotions and demonstrations too. What I do not and never will get is how hurting people who had NOTHING to do with this helps. It's happening in Denver too. Some people will use any excuse to do things like this.

This is really much worse then the Ferguson MO riots which were like 2 miles from where I lived. Scary part is that I was just at the one Quick Trip getting gas and 10 minutes after I pulled away is when the protesters came and set the QT on fire. I pray that all will be fine where you are.

Doing shopping today. Mom is debating whether she just want to ride in the car with me just to get out of the house. Our weather has been so unpredictable lately. Hoping I have a sighting of Shaman today while going but looks like something may have happened to her. :(

Fine, just on modified lockdown. All the Target stores across the metro, grocery stores, malls and liquor stores in my part of town are closed and I am skipping my walk today. My Target store is six blocks in one direction, a large mall ten blocks in another and the home where protestors are congregating a few miles in another direction. So even driving seems dicey. And to make it even a little unnerving my next door neighbor is a long time Minneapolis police officer.

We will see as the day unfolds.

Please stay safe! I hope you are doing okay! I have friends and family all over the area as well. Some are looking for places to drop supplies for folks if they need it as the grocery stores are shut.

This needs to end, but it won't end until the officers involved are arrested, and the police union is one of the strongest forces out there.
Be kind to each other folks!

A not so funny family connection to this officer I just learned about today. Turns out my niece bought this officers house about six years ago and after the incident someone posted her address on Facebook as where he lived. So her family had to spend a night under police protection because people were swarming to her house.

Remember the Rodney King riots? And even farther back the Watts riots? Burning, looting, and for what? As if that solved anything. It always hurts people who had nothing to do with the original complaint which is ingrained racism, the unreasonable fear of the "other".
Minneapolis has. . .a history.
July: Month of Rage |

Watching that video (plus other recent incidents) makes me so angry/sad/hopeless that I want to put a chair through a window. I know it wouldn't do any good but, well. I don't think the destruction is good at all, but there's such a hopeless feeling, how else DO you make them take things seriously?

It's also absolutely maddening seeing how respectfully law enforcement treated the armed and violent anti-mask protesters, versus how they're treating these protesters :/. They have learned nothing.

I'm finally done decorating! I finished the final coconut hut this morning and added it and the rest of the tiny plants. I'm not going to be doing anything else major in terms of decorating. Maybe a moss ball or two in each section and a few more tiny plants in the front but for now, this is the final. My air pump isn't doing so well though so I might have to buy a new one. I still have 2 more sponge filters to purchase however but that won't be for a few months because I'm not planning on getting any new fish any time soon. I'll probably fix the dividers and make a lid but for now I'M DONE!!

Sorry for the poor quality photos, the tank looks better in person, I swear.
