I don't think any of my suppliers know if they can get Rawz rabbit from one week to the next. If Krista was still eating turkey, we wouldn't be having this issue. If she would eat the rabbit and pumpkin pate, we probably wouldn't be having this issue either. But something about the plain rabbit pate flavor, Rawz just can't keep up with the demand. Maybe when the dust settles from all my recent spending, I'll buy the electric grinder and make a batch of raw for her again. I finally have enough gloves for the task. Walgreens got some back in stock and one of my Amazon orders finally shipped. Both of those are in sizes that fit my hands. Then two of my Amazon orders came in the wrong sizes. I can still use the XS but the XL are comical. I just haven't gotten around to returning those because that involves a trip outdoors. To the post office. Among other people. At least most everyone seems to be complying with the mask requirement here.

I just bought two sandals roughly the same style because the lower price one I put in my cart wasn't enough for free shipping. 🤦‍♂️ But I couldn't decide if I liked the higher priced one enough to pull the other out of the cart. Neither pair were all that expensive and the retailer advertises free returns. I like my old Merrell Evolution sandals that haven't been made in over ten years. I had one pair last me about five years and I got another pair off eBay that lasted almost as long. I like them for the velcro strap adjustment with a buckle closure so I don't have to fuss with the velcro strap every time. I don't know why that style isn't more popular.
Men’s Country Walking Sandals NH120?

And I bought another pair of Allbirds. These are ridiculously comfortable but they don't last very long before the support starts to give out. But for that first reason, I keep buying them because I haven't found (or seriously sought out) an alternative. A friend tells me I should just have these on auto-order.

It's so frustrating when you find something that works -- for cats or people -- and then have to go through these things. There are a lot of cats on specialized diets and I wouldn't think it would be that hard to find them -- but yes, it is. Same thing with shoes, sometimes. I bought a pair of shoes that works good for me, and then I bought 3 more of the same brand, because they last a long time and I know they'll be good for me into the future. They're expensive, but when you have bad feet, you can't just expect cheap shoes to be good. My policy with almost everything now is that if I find something good, I try to get more of it while it's around. Because you just never know, do you?

I try to do that too re: stocking up when I find something I like. I think I'm probably on the spectrum. Finding things that work and sticking to them is much less stressful to me than variety. I like routines and cookie cutter packages that take the thinking out of the mundane. I buy tees and long sleeve tees from The Gap and just mix and match them with jeans or shorts so I don't have to think about fashion choices. I built yoga and run "go bags", color-coded bags on the outside with orange bags on the inside for dirties and stocked my trunk with a week's worth. Back when I still had time and energy for yoga and running.

This is probably also why it's easy for me to stick to Krista's routines because there is something satisfying about the constancy of it all.

I just wish she was a little more regular. It's almost 18 or 19 hours now since her last poop despite the return of psyllium in her midnight meal and second breakfast.

I think I'm going to buy her the AnimalBiome testing kit and custom probiotics.

And I'll do her B-12 shot tomorrow. I think I'll just plan on doing it every other dose (every six days) rather than once a week.

💩👍🤞

We had a good pre-dinner poop. And now I’m waiting to see if she has a post-dinner round two.

I purchased her Kitty Biome Kit. Testing and capsules.

Return of the 3am 💩👍🤞

And this room just won’t cool down! I’m not going to get sleep until after first breakfast probably. 🤦🏼‍♂️

Yeah, definitely sounds like you could be a fellow Aspy. I do all that stuff, too, and I always thought it was fairly normal, until I noticed it wasn't. Everything can be done logically and well or not, to me. It's difficult sometimes trying to integrate all of this with my roomies and their ways, but they're pretty amazing about it, coming from a culture that is traditionally very much that way.

My Three expect me to adhere to the routines we have. If not, they will definitely let me know I need to shape up!

It’s hot enough to melt a cat in this apartment. We’re not even at peak heat today. This apartment heats up and doesn’t cool down very easily. No cross-breeze possible. 😿

That was an hour ago. Now she’s sitting just outside the door, presumably enjoying the windchill of the ceiling fan, but also staring at me. Presumably hinting at impending lunch still an hour away.

Hot weather sux bigtime! I can't afford my HVAC but my roomies can, and they pay for it when they request it. It works out great.
Tortoiseshells and calicos and all of the related flavas seem to be proactive when it comes to feeding times!

The extra cat that gets the extra color in them also gives them extra cattitude and extra appetite. That's my theory. Prove me wrong. 😹

I have a portable AC unit (size of a small fridge) but it's loud like a jet engine and the only place to put it that makes sense is in the front room with a large sliding door that makes the venting difficult. I don't have a good vertical door vent kit yet. Last summer I bought three different door kits. They either weren't tall enough or had the wrong size cutout for the hose. I'm just not ready to go there again. This heat should go away in a couple of days. I have a fan in the office that's keeping me cool. Krista can camp under the ceiling fan if she gets truly miserable. I think she knows that. She also likes to lay on the hardwood outside the office which is also cooler than the front room or the office.

Cats can get in sinks and tubs, too, which helps. Unfortunately, we can't spend our days hanging out in the tub trying to work. It just doesn't work.
Heat's bad down here in L.A., too. It may fluctuate -- hope so -- but summer is coming, eventually. :sigh: Hope you can get something workable to use your AC. I've toughed it out through all the summers here, but it isn't pleasant. And I hate seeing the cats flaked out semi-comatose in the worst of it. Cats like warmth, but not THAT kind of warmth.
I'm sure you're right about the colorful cats!

💉😾

Since she was Smaug'ing out on the kitchen floor (a little draggin') instead of joining me on the countertop for lunch prep, I figured that was the perfect time to ready her B-12 shot. I got the shot ready, prepared her lunch, covered it up, and brought both shot and lunch to her feeding spot. As she looked at lunch plate with can covering her lunch, I got her scruff ready for the shot. She sat down on her belly like a good and smart kitty knowing what's coming. 🤺 *yip!* But she took it like a pro and I plunged without having to chase her down for repeat pokings like last time. No wet spot on her neck. Another good shot. Then I lifted the can off her food and went back to the kitchen to dispose of the needle and syringe. She's no dummy! She followed me back to the kitchen and looked at me like, "where's my treat?! You can't tell me a meal I was already getting is my reward for that." She's right, of course. I gave her a fish flake and then she proceeded to eat her lunch. This one is too smart for me sometimes. 😼😹

1. She is feline.
2. You are human.
3. No matter how intellligent/well-educated you may be, 1 and 2 always apply. ;)

A 3pm poop to complement the 3am poop this morning. If that's not regular, I don't know what is!

Now, can we maybe get to something more sane like a 9 and 9 schedule?

The biggest problem with this heat is that Krista is restless and doesn't sleep between meals like she usually does. And if she's not sleeping, then she wants to eat. She's spent more time in the filling station today than she spends sleeping in any other day. It's been a real challenge to get work done when there's a cat in front of the keyboard most of the day.

UPDATE: I just discovered my work laptop that I've had for almost a month now has a touch screen! That's a game-changer when the cat is blocking the keyboard.

💩👍

I asked for a 9 and 9 schedule. And well, I don’t know when this one came because I fell asleep sometime in the last 90 minutes or so. I’m guessing it was a 10 pm poop.

Also it’s finally cooler outside than inside and I can open the sliding door to let in some cooler air instead of just blowing around the same hot air with fans.
