There's only one planet, we're gonna have to live in it.

Hope we don't ruin it worse than we have.

Has anyone actually had that moment of realization yet about the fact that our entire planet is affected by this?
Well, last I heard, Antarctica was still covid-19 free, but pretty global, yeah.

How many cases in the US now?
Yet, there are still so many people showing symptoms that cannot be tested. Our numbers here are much, much higher than what is being broadcasted.

My brother knows someone who hasn't left the house in over three weeks, except to get some groceries... and they got the virus. Please stay safe everyone!

The last time my mom took Sunnie to the vet, she had a vet tech come to her car, bring him in for the bloodwork, and bring him back out when done. She forgot to give him his relaxing medicine, and when they took vitals Sunnie's heart rate was pretty high. They told my mom to come back in a couple weeks, and she will need to come into the office. Grrrrr.... I keep telling her Do Not Go In!! Tell them you are staying in the car!!!

Also, the elderly friend my mom has been helping with bringing over groceries, I just found out has a nurse who comes to check on the elderly friend. I did not know this before, but this is concerning to me. Even if the nurse is being careful and only has other stay at home patients, who knows if those patients have family visiting that may transfer the virus or what other contact the nurse has? This is pretty concerning to me.

LOL! Yeah, Antarctica is free of all of this...But I was talking more about populated areas.
I saw a little piece on the local news that the north pole is doing OK as well. Santa and Mrs. Claws announced that they and all their elves are all healthy too. :)

I'm willing to try meal delivery. Usually, there's just one restaurant in town that delivers, but more are doing it right now. I ordered yesterday from one of these places, and I gave the driver a big tip. I'm sure she would rather have been home.

I hope these restaurants see how much business they can get from delivery and decide to stick with it.

there was a plan to gradually reopen everything, but thats on hold now. Theyve just closed down cinemas all over again and i heard theyve pushed back school reopening

China Shuts Down All Cinemas, Again

Probably worried about a second wave. the world should really pay attention to what happens here within the next two months. Whatever happens is going to happen elsewhere in 3 months’ time.

I have never been this anxious about running simple errands. I used to love just running errands. And there's nothing special about it at all, just something that I used to enjoy doing.
You and me both!!!

I'm dreading going to the store this weekend. I'm trying not to let fear paralyze me, but it isn't easy. My mother is diabetic and has hypertension. She's also 65. While she has a pretty good immune system, I'd rather limit her exposure as much as possible, and leaving the house just has me damn near hyper-ventilating sometimes because people are crazy. The sad thing is, if people would stop hoarding everything, ordering things online or for pick up would be SO much easier , but it's been impossible because things are out of stock.

As it is, I'm going to - have - to go to the store soon. We're going to need more wet cat food (I have a cat who has no teeth, she NEEDS it. It's a priority, buy sadly)

What I started doing is putting a plastic bag over my hand when I check out/punch the numbers in for my card. That keypad is probably the nastiest most germy thing in the door, so I'm taking caution there.

I am 70 and have emphysema. I am pretty much home bound. I have not been out of my house since I got out of rehab 3 weeks ago after having major surgery. My family brings me groceries and I plan on having Chinese delivered tonight for dinner. I am not worried about getting COVID 19. I need something different to eat and I am sure the restaurant could use the business.

I'm sure! So many Chinese places have suffered because of this. I feel so bad for them.

I am 70 and have emphysema. I have not been out of the house since I returned home from rehab 3 weeks ago after having major stomach surgery. I plan on having Chinese delivered tonight for dinner. My sister and B/L deliver bread to stores and they pick up groceries for me. My sister worries about giving me covid 19 from getting me groceries but I am not worried about catching it. I need something different to eat and I am sure the resturant could use the business.
I've read that for takeout, wash hands then put the food on your own plates/bowls, wash your hands again then enjoy with your own utensils!

Yes, and also popping the food in the microwave helps. This is the strategy my family heard and has been using.

I am an essential employee as are 100 others at my work place (we are spread out and I have a six foot radius around my desk, we are spread across 6 different buildings on property). Every friday we get donuts for the office but the normal place closed two weeks ago. Last week the place we went was sketchy so this week I found a different place. We went in said, "seven dozen donuts". The owner was there with just her elderly father running the place (she was Asian which is why I quoted yours, not sure if she is chinese). She asked us, "seven donuts?". "Nope, seven dozen plus two bagels, two cinnamon rolls and three croissants".

She broke down in tears.

Apparently, she is really worried about making her rent. My boss told her to round up the cost to an even $100 and hope it helps some. I am pretty sure he will keep going back there each week as long as she is open. She's had to lay off all her workers, it's just her and her father running it. They are struggling to make rent and the landlord already told them no late payments. She was telling me she really misses her regulars and is struggling to make sure she doesn't make too much each day because she can't afford to waste or loose business.

Shop small during this time to help your local shops. My city set up a city google map where small businesses can pin themselves along with how to order. I plan on ordering two dozen cookies from the local bakery and asking them to just give them away to whomever wants/needs them. I am tipping good for delivery and only shopping at local small business or franchised locations of chain places.

I have been following and staying current on all the details of the virus, government addresses, MOH guidlines, taking inventory of my home so I don't have the leave the house as much and trying to take care of unemployment stuff so we are ok financially. I've been staying in contact with my family, and we are all trying to take care of each other "from afar". I've been actually at peace about this impromptu "stay-cation" and am accomplishing so much around the house, my mental health is quite content at the moment. I know what's going on with all of this, but it was just the other day, that I was sitting looking out the window, when I got this overwhelming weighted feeling, that I think it finally "sunk in"....like holy poop, the whole planet is in "lockdown". Now don't get me wrong, I'm not all "Oh no! doomsday...the world is ending....it's just the magnitude of this whole thing finally "hit me", even though I've been up to date with everything, I guess I hadn't processed it all. You just do what you gotta do and keep moving forward...but it was still an odd "woosh" of "holy crap!"
I can definitely relate to this. It feels like this all happened so fast. If you were to tell me a month ago that I'd be out of school, stuck at home, I wouldn't believe you.

I've remained pretty calm since the beginning because fear doesn't help anyone. My anxiety stems mostly from other people panicking because I tend to "absorb" emotions from others.

My local Chinese takeaway (literally 500 yds away) has closed. So has the chip shop. There is lots of confusion over Government directions : restaurants etc were to close dining areas but could still do takeaway food. But seems like the takeaways have read it as they also have to close. I suppose the worry is that people won't keep their distance.

Kieka Kieka - I really want a donut now! On a serious note that sounds like a real horrible landlord. Hope they can keep the business going.

Oh, that is heartbreaking! I'm actually tearing up while reading this >.< I can't imagine that sort of stress.

A friend of mine, out in NY, actually had to call the police because a group of people actually attacked an asian man. I'm not sure what it is about things like this that makes people crazy, but I really hope it stops soon!

Next time you go,maybe suggest to her that she print out/make some gift cards for her business? Maybe people who are afraid to buy, would be willing to buy those to use for when this mess finally blows over?

That's where I'm standing. I won't order or anything, because if I can't see people cooking my food, I'm absolutely afraid to eat there, especially during times like this.
