Yeah, re-plating to your own plates and reheating seems like a good way to do take out and delivery. Heating to 56 C or 133 F kills the virus, which is not too hot when you think about it (boiling water is at 100 C or 212 F). I would avoid take out cold food. Refrigeration is not helpful here-it might actually preserve the virus better than at room temperature.

What's going on in Georgia????? Only 600 cases yet 23 deaths? Did it hit a nursing home or something there? I know there are more deaths in other states but the percentage in relation to infections is quite high comparatively.

Wow. I googled info and an article from Georgia news station said the median age is 67, so sounds like a lot of older folks.

Ohio formally goes on lockdown at 11:59 p.m. tomorrow night. From what I can find about it nothing really changes, we are already on lockdown. This just made it a formal directive. They still aren't pulling people over, at least not yet. They are only disbanding public groups of more then 10. The only things left open are grocery stores, pharmacies and restaurants for takeout or delivery. It has been that way for a little over a week That is the directive of the lockdown. People can only report to work if they are deemed to be essential with a strong directive that people work from home if at all possible. Again it has been that way for a little over a week.

So I was wondering what the city would look like after the government renewed the distancing campaign..and let's just say people don't seem to be taking it as seriously as they did the first time. It doesn't help that the weather is so nice and the flowers are starting to bloom. I did go out a few times this weekend, but by myself, to get take out food or to walk in the parks at times when there were very few people around.

I noticed a few venues I go to were still advertising shows and I'm worried that the government is actually going to crackdown on these places (which they already have a tumultuous relationship with--I don't mean to be political, this is just facts, but having a liberal president has already saved these places the worst). Losing business for a couple of weekends will hit them hard, but being fined, forcibly shut down, and then excessively monitored by the government afterward would be a lot worse. I would think as tight knit as our little indie music scene is here, that we could band together and "save the scene." The other thing I noticed about the bands who were slated to play is that they are all the younger, newer generation of bands (who don't remember the time of artist blacklists and being deemed illegal)

Anyway, case numbers are still falling here. More people are being released after recovering. There is light at the end of the tunnel. Also, I just downloaded Animal Crossing for my Switch and it's supposed to rain for a few days this week, so I'm good to stay indoors and not get wanderlust.

I read one thing that said the Sioux Falls council was going to meet on Tuesday to call a lockdown, and another thing said they're having an emergency meeting tonight. Either way, that's what they're doing. Most of the restaurant chains have already gone to take-out only and the mall is already closed, I guess the only ones who didn't do it voluntarily are a lot of bars and clubs.

The Walmart in my parents' town was pretty well picked over. Only organic milk left in the dairy section and NO potatoes.

The frenzied over buying is beginning to die down here. More people tend to go early in the morning, probably a combination of people either working from home or laid off and remembering the empty shelves when all the hoarding was going on.

Gov. Polis had a news conference, here in Colorado we aren't going to lockdown yet, still a step before that. Asking people to go to the store less often, if you jog 4 times per week cut it to two, just really stay home, etc.
It sounds like we're doing more testing here too.
And one attorney who was in several courtrooms has tested positive. So working on doing online court proceedings.
The news people are mostly broadcasting from home, one lady doing the weather has her dog barking its head off in the background!

So a lockdown is just basically a stay at home?
It depends on how your state's governor does it and how far they go with enforcement. Ohio seems to be like many other states that have taken this step. Non essential businesses are closed. Public gatherings of over a certain amount banned, Ohio went with 10. That is the only part that is being enforced by law enforcement. Working from home and only essential workers who can't work from home physically go to work. Social distancing at work. I only go into work one day a week and work from home the rest of the time. Many work from home exclusively. They have spread people out at work so there is a lot of distance between people. They haven't started temperature checks at work yet but I wouldn't be surprised if that is being done when I go into work at the end of the week.

I'm wondering why flights aren't cancelled nor airports closed. I have several flights for spring travelling (certainly non essential) which I don't want to take now but airlines would cancel them only if I take airline credit back. Now I may be out of US in foreseeable future and may not be able to use these credits. So I'm left with the choice of either loosing money or flying, which is ridiculous given the circumstances. Do they really want me to fly? I'm wondering if "shelter in place" order would change anything in this regard, and airlines would be required to refund. Does anyone know?

(This virus is pretty easy to kill outside the body, even if all you have is soap and water, that's better than nothing.)
Actually, soap and water is the easiest, best way to kill this particular virus. I'm a little bit surprised that no one's hoarding soap (and no, I do not recommend doing so).

Gov. Polis is also suggesting that businesses try to go to more shifts, so fewer people can be working at once and it'll be easier to maintain at least a 6 foot distance between workers. Makes sense.

Another reason my bf and I are trying to do take out a few times a week is that we really want to support the small businesses. We try to target the tasty and small ethnic restaurants. But saturday is my bday and I want to try for take out sushi if possible lol.

The Blue Island (suburban Chicago) police department is shut down because two officers tested positive. This is scary. They called in officers from other towns to sub for them, but what if all our police, firefighters, EMTs get infected? We can't do without these people.

So blood donations are down. Not surprising. I don't do as well giving blood now that I'm older. But it would totally be doable in an urgent situation like this. But what is holding me back is that I don't know my infection status. If they test me and I'm negative sure I would be willing to give. But if I'm positive no one should be using my blood anyway but also I feel that I need to keep that blood for myself for recovery. So I don't give. It sucks but that's the situation right now.

Pennsylvania state police to enforce business closures

I gave this as a link, but I had heard it during one of Gov Wolf's announcements. PA state police will begin to check and enforce non-essential business shutdowns, starting at 8:00 this morning. I can understand why; I know of several businesses whose owners said they simply weren't going to shut down.

Can't give blood here; I never could because of high blood pressure. Rick has a rare blood type and he used to get called out of work to go to the hospital when they urgently needed that type. Since he was diagnosed with epilepsy and went on meds, he can no longer give blood.

Michele says that she wouldn't be surprised if she got a call from the hospital that she retired from asking her to come back to work or volunteer. She was, as she used to put it, 'only' an LPN, but who knows what may come to pass.
