I'm new to the forum and before browsing the threads thought it appropriate to post a little introduction. I've had cats all of my life with many dogs sprinkled in and the occasional ferret. I was also the owner of a cat hotel called Grand Feline Resort which was located in SoCal. It was a great business that I enjoyed immensely. Unfortunately I sold it to a man who ruined it and went out of business. If things change in the not so distant future I will likely start one up again. At the height of my business I would have nearly 60 cats on site and it was truly a marvel how they got along in a free range environment.

My last cat was named Torrie. She passed away four months ago at the age of 19. What a blessing and companion she was! I miss her to this day. She was a Himalyan and as sweet as they come. She also thought she was sexy. Wink, wink.

Thank you both. Torrie was an incredible companion and I miss her dearly. Even after four months it is surprisingly difficult to talk about her without getting all misty eyed. I will defintely create a thread in her honor. She was a rescue and less than a year old when I got her so we had a lot of great years, two trips across the country and many other adventures. I recently adopted a German Shepherd from a kil facility when he had less than 24 hours to live. He is proving to also be a wonderful companion. It may not make sense but I just couldn't adopt another cat, just yet. Perhaps in a year or two I'll get a kitten so Shiloh as a companion, but for now I'm just not ready for that.

:welcomesign:Thankyou for saving a German shepherd they are wonderful loving and loyal dog's. It makes perfect sense not to get another cat just now you have no need to rush anything just yet. Give yourself time and enjoy those lovely kisses from your Shiloh.
;)
He makes me laugh every day. He is so smart! When I am on the couch with my laptop I can hear his nails on the floor as he approaches. Then I see a pair of ears stickup up above the top of my laptop. He has figured out he can use his nose to close the lid of my laptop onto my fingers and then I'm greeted with his "I wanna go on a walk!" look.

Welcome to the site! I would love to hear more about your kitty adventures.
An adventure that is a fond memory for me is when my job took me to Philadelphia for three years. It was the first and only time Torrie ever road in a plane. She was in a soft carrier at my feet the entire trip. The flight from Los Angeles to Philly is about five hours. When the plane touched down she did a quiet little "meww" and the person next to me said, "Is that a cat?". I told her it was my cat Torrie and the young woman was shocked. She said I had no idea there was a cat there for the entire trip.

Torrie was an indoor/outdoor cat in California but when I was in Philly the apartment I rented was such that every building looked exactly the same and even people had a hard time finding the right address. I was afraid she would get lost so during that time she was just an indoor cat with tons of room and things to do.

After three years the contract ended and I was headed back to SoCal. I flew my sister out to help me move back. For the move, I rented a 26' U-Haul truck with a car hauler and hired some people to help pack and load. I've driven across country 4 times and its always an adventure. My sister brought her little dog, we put a cat box in the floor of the cab and away we went. Torrie liked to spend a fair amount of time lying on top of the dashboard getting sun and watching the scenery go by. At night we stayed in hotels.

She was amazing for the entire trip and never an issue. We ended up in San Diego for six months and then made back to our old stomping grounds in Ventura County. Good times.
