Ever since the recent upgrade to this site, if I paste a link in a post - such as one from Amazon - it expands the post horizontally to the point I have to scroll sideways to see the entire post. This is what it is doing on a computer - god knows how that looks on a cell phone!!! Do others have the expanded view as I do, or do they see it normally? Here is the most recent post I did that this happened to - Post #4.
Scale to weigh cat

Thanks!

I noticed the same thing yesterday when using my MacBook on TCS, but it doesn’t do it on my iPad or iPhone.

So, what does my post look like on your MacBook, and then on your iPad or iPhone? That is, if you don't mind, experimenting for me!!!!

Which post? The one you linked to or one of these? I’ll send you screen shots as soon as I get my MB Pro fired up.

Here's what it looks like on my computer. You can see it runs off the right side.

Here it is on my iPad. Looks fine.

And it look exactly the same on the iPhone as it does on the iPad.

Sometimes I get posts or threads like this that expand over the right side as I got it today again. Think it only happen occasionally on my MacBook Pro.

I have Windows 10/Internet Explorer. Same as what I was using before this site's upgrade, but didn't have the stretched out links then. And, I haven't come across a post by anyone else with an extended link, but given Tobermory Tobermory 's experiment I guess I will eventually.

FeebysOwner FeebysOwner can you please tell me how you got the link? Did you copy it from your browser's URL address bar or did you right-click when in Amazon and copied the link that way? Also, when browsing Amazon, do you have any toolbars installed that could be affecting your links? I'm asking because I think there may be affiliate code hidden in there.
When posting Amazon links here, it's best to clean up the code after the product but it does seem tricky. I managed to get to the base code to embed the product -

I've copied links both ways. I probably more typically right-click and copy an image/pic, though.

Not sure I understand what you are asking; but, I would be inclined to say No.

I thought about that, but not sure how to accomplish it. Would that be after posting the link, and deleting a portion of the latter link-data? If done correctly, would that 'shrink' the expanded screen/post?

Thanks!

A "clean" Amazon link for a specific product usually looks like this -
1581268516961.png

This is an image of the text. When I use the text itself, the system should turn it into a product:

The code at the end - B07P1G63LZ - is Amazon's catalog number for the product. So, to clean up a link, you usually need to delete everything after that bit. Most people don't bother with that and that's ok. The system should be smart enough to do that on its own. I'm not sure why it's not doing it in this case so I forwarded the issue to our tech support team. Thank you for reporting this!

It just looks like this with an Amazon logo that is not clickable. I am using Safari on a Mac, if that's helpful.
Some web browsers don't show Amazon links. A link just shows up as the Amazon logo.
