My book club just finished reading Richard Wagamese's "Ragged Company". Here's the link to Goodreads. All of us enjoyed it which is rare, and we had a long and lively discussion.

Well...I managed to pick up a virus, and was down for three days, then the modem got sick, and it was two days being replaced! However, I'm back, and way behind!
HMMMMMMM...I read "Leathal Bayou Beauty" and "Swamp Sniper" in the Miss Fortune series, and BOTH of them had me laughing so hard my tummy hurt! I also read "Call of the Cats: What I Learned about LIfe and Love from a Feral Colony" by Andrew Bloomberg, which was just remarkable, loving, and funny, and sad, and utterly honest. I'll be saving this one to read again and again. THEN I read "Trouble in Mudbug," the first of the "Ghost in Law" series (who could resist reading a book about a town called "Mudbug"? Then "Dead in Dublin," which I really enjoyed as well, and am now reading "A Charming Crime." AND I'm reading "The Last Time I Lied" on my computer, so that's about 5 chapters a night, because it's awkward to hold the computer while reading, AND I'm reading "The Diamond Trilogy," which is also awkward, but because it is a script, rather than a novel, so you have to provide all your own cues, vocal tones, facial expressions, background, and since it was written as a play, the action jumps from single place to single place with no segue. But the story is good.

I actually met TEN of them at this year's luncheon, and got to talk with the author of "The Diamond Trilogy" at some length, because we sat at her table for lunch!That's really cool about all the North Carolina authors! Hope you'll get to meet some of them, maybe. Good luck with your book club as well.

I just got the e-book from my library, so I'm going to start it either later today or tomorrow.
That's so cool.
I started the Warriors series book one a while ago, and couldn't really get into it either. Plus in the back of my mind was something I'd read about the violence in future books, and I think that might have been a factor in my inability to get into it.
I looked on Amazon, and I can order the first paperback in the Warriors series for less than the Kindle edition! OH...Thriftbooks has it used for under $4. I can order that, and two more of another author (to get free shipping), and see if I like them. At least give them a try! I'm almost through with "A Charming Crime." The story is actually good. I like the characters, and I haven't yet figured out whodunit, so that's excellent. I'll continue this series. My only TINY issue with the book is that it is self-published, and should have been proofread more carefully. There are some spelling issues, and some scrambling of tenses, and such, but it isn't bad enough to ruin the book for me.

That is an entire series you've read?
All those issues would ruin the book for me. Particularly spelling errors. There's simply no excuse for those, and yet I see them in books that aren't self-published all the time.
I finished The Inconvenient Indian last night. Really heartbreaking how badly they've been treated since the first explorers arrived in North America.
Next up is The Last Time I Lied

no, we just started reading it
Just finished The Babysitter by Sheryl Browne. Bit slow to start but soon picked up speed. Really enjoyed it. She has written quite a few books so will read another of hers.
I've now finished "A Charning Smile," and am simultaneously reading "The Last Time I Lied" and "The Diamond Trilogy" for my two book clubs. The "Diamond" is slow going for reasons I stated earlier, but the story is excellent. It is a tragedy, which isn't my usual thing, but very compelling. For all of the problems I've had reading it, I can tell you that if Ms. Singletary ever gets it produced on stage, I want tickets, which may be the best compliment I can give it, come to think of it.
