Hi

Luna was bleeding this morning on top of her ear. Her back foot was bloody.

I feed her hills sensitive stomach dry and glucosamine oil.

I’ve started brushing her teeth with cet seafood toothpaste.

Occasionally I give celloquent and flex and free powder from vitality science.

Last weekend we got 2 canaries from the pet store.

This isn’t new behavior, I’ve never seen her scratch her ear bloody before.

Should I change her food? To what?

After I cleaned her ear a little wax came out not much.

I’m putting wound care on it and added the color.

I want to change her food and I’m looking for suggestions.

If I get Benadryl to give her how much should I use?
I do give 5mg of Claritin I’ve slacked off lately.

Hi!

This does seem coincidental to the arrival of the birds, you could also use chamomile tea for its calming properties, with the same recommendation of type to purchase as below; syringe 3 teaspoonfuls of chamomile tea (chilled) 3 times a day.

Is it Revolution Plus? The FDA warning is for neurological reactions, and includes Revolution Plus; --to my mind, if a cat is sensitive to a flea med the reaction could show up in any form.

From FeebysOwner FeebysOwner
Revolution (NOT Plus) contains Selamectin which is NOT part of the isoxazoline class of flea and tick treatments. It is absorbed through the sebaceous glands, but also goes into the bloodstream. There is no warning regarding neurological issues with Selamectin.

Revolution PLUS also contains Sarolaner which IS one of the isoxazoline class. It is primarily absorbed through the bloodstream and DOES carry the warning about possible neurological issues. Sarolaner was added because it is more effective in killing ticks than Selamectin.

Would chamomile tea help in this situation?
From Mamanyt1953 Mamanyt1953

wash the wound with chamomile tea. It's very soothing, and it has antibiotic and anti fungal properties. Brew a cup of the tea, chill it in the fridge, and apply to the wound several times a day with a soft cloth or cotton ball.

I will caution you to use the commercially prepared tea bags from the grocery store, as these are ALL prepared with German chamomile. German chamomile is medically active, and safe for cats. The English variety, that often grows in gardens, is useless medicinally, and is actually toxic to cats.

Does your cat go outside? Something might have tried to bite her or something like that.

My cat had an ingrown claw, and I was getting ready to help her clip it off when I came back to her she had pulled the claw off! She was bloody too. Check if your cat had ripped her paw pad. About the ear, I don't really know what could do that.

I have about no experience on this. So listen to

You are awesome!!
I did find this blister...she has had them before. She was diagnosed with herpes.
I introduced birds to the home I maybe dealing with an outbreak of herpes. That would explain things.

Alright
Steroids are done
Luna is not eating her food
This is the food I changed her to before putting her on medication for scratching her ears. It has no chicken fish gluten etc... she still scratched
Then to vet put her on a month of steroids.
I see her lick the food
I feed three different food to 3 different cats
She acts like she wants another kind of food.
She used to be aggressively trying to eat everyone’s food and her own.
Now nothing goes in since the steroids stopped 2 days ago. Well yesterday she picked. Today no food was eaten.

Thanks. I read up on this. Yesterday, I called the vet. They suggested putting her in a room away from the other cat until she eats. I did this with wet food. She doesn't eat all of it. And then demands to be let out of the room.
The kitten eats the left overs. I emptied the microchip feeder. Washed the bowl. Then put fresh food down. She ate a little.
The kitten has a microchip feeder as well. I put them side by side now. So it seems like they can eat from the same dish.
I don't know what to do. My schedule is changing again. I'll be away from home 10 hours, and eventually 14 hours.
I bought more wet food she can't resist. If she doesn't touch her food, I'll give her a can of wet food when I get home.
When she eats she has bowel movements. I heat up turkey, sweet potato, anything like that she asks for some. I give some to her. Thank you for the link. The information made me realize that I need to do something, and get her to eat asap!
I'm going to take her to the vet soon, because the kitten needs vaccinations. Luna (white) may have bad teeth. I don't know her deal.

So I’ve decided I’m being manipulated by a cat to put down canned cat food when she asks for it!

...not necessarily a bad thing, canned food :) there's a thread of cat food deals, for less expensive items if that would be of any help.

It's not a money thing. It's a communication thing. She should grow lips and say, Hey I want the canned food!
