Anybody else want to adopt another cat but just can't right now?

There's this adorable, sweet, fluffy orange and white kitty at my local cat cafe (the place my two cats came from). I adore her. If I could take her home, I would... but I just can't. My lease prohibits more than two cats, and while I bet it would be easy to conceal a third, the financial penalties are steep if you get caught. More than that, though, I just don't have space or money for a third cat yet. Even if intros went smoothly (and they very well might; the cats at the cafe are very well socialized to other cats, and my current ones adjusted very quickly to each other), I'd struggle with vet bills and affording decent food.

So I know the right thing to do is hope that this beautiful, sweet kitty gets a good home... with someone else, who has the resources for her, while I continue to do my best for the two who are already counting on me to take care of them.

Just wanted to complain a little. Surely I'm not the only one who has found a wonderful cat that they just can't adopt?

I'm sure she'll get a great home. And it's not like she's not living quite comfortably at the cat cafe. I'm honestly surprised she's still there and someone hasn't adopted her already. Maybe if I have time later this week I can drop by for a visit. It's always fun to go there, and while I wish I could adopt, it's not something I'd do impulsively when I know it wouldn't be good in my situation.

last year, the only two cats i had passed away. And then now i have been feeding 4 cats near a local shop where the staff feeds them too, and it sucks cause i would love to take them all with me, but i wouldnt be able to afford it, no space. And then i donate to cat rescue sites so the cats get medical treatment and food and there are so many posts of cats needing to be rehomed and i want to take them all. I feel guilty for taking one and leaving the other one behind. A few years back after a car accident , my dog jumped out of the car window and ran away, i ran after him with blood pouring down my face, but other people stopped me because i was in bad shape. I placed lost dog signs everywhere that week and even went to the council dog shelter hoping that someone had rescued my dog, when i went into the dog shelter hoping that he was there, i was looking at all the dogs in the cages and i broke down in tears because i felt guilty walking away because i knew majority of them would be put down soon, and i was there to find my dog, not them. I did end up finding my dog, someone found him near the accident site near a train tracks.

I just cant chose , its like letting one live and letting the other die. My cats were strays that chose me. And my dog was bought by my ex.

Of course this happens at one time or another to everyone. Everytime I have a starving, beat up cat appear at my door, abandoned and so confused, the kitten that has his mother laying in the street, when i bring donations to the shelter and see the old, beautiful scared cat that has just had it's owner die,,,,,It tears a little of my soul away. For now all I can do is pray for them, get them help, and realize I can't save them all.... but I will always do what I can......

No. I have too. I do want another one but the girls disagree and their opinion is more important than mine. They said it is so it must be true.

So what they decided I should do is this:

I go to the website of a local no kill shelter, look for the oldest cat they have whose adoption fee hasn't been sponsored yet and I sponsor them. When that cat gets adopted, I do it again. So while I can't take another one myself, I try to make it easier for the cat to find a loving home.

I'd love to get Dario a playmate but, space wise, finance wise and time wise I can't do it right now. I'd also love to steal my dad's barn cat, Tina, and make her a house cat but she disagrees with that.
We have four cats between my parents and I because there was a little fuzzy creature that needed a home. That's also why they have three rescue dogs.

You are not the only one. I volunteer at a rescue doing the cat care shift and there are so many that come through I would take home if I could. It would be irresponsible of us, so I resist.

Agreed. We can't take them all. Someday I would very much like to have more than just two... But that just can't happen right now. I can't compromise the care of my current cats.
