That’s a thing right?
Our tortie girl who’s 6 months old has always been really smart, fearless and energetic. I need to harness train her as she’s indoor only, but clearly needs more stimulation!!!
Our younger kitten that you see here is just an innocent side kick! 😇

This was just this morning I caught her doing this. Luckily it was locked! It’s not a knob it’s actually a handle so if it was unlocked she could hang on it and open it.
She is so curious and gets into everything! We adopted our second kitten bc she was so relentlessly energetic and curious! And having a playmate has been great for her and all of us. But phew, she’s still figuring out all the things!!!

My tortie is almost 7 and hasn't slowed down that much. I just got her out of the Christmas tree a few minutes ago.

Merry Christmas! LOL

Ha! yeah, this will be her first Christmas and I'm pretty nervous about the tree. We're putting up this week so we'll see!

She's so different than our other kitten. . .anytime I'm up doing something she has to investigate while he'll happily go on sleeping. I've been trying to break her of her rug scratching habit (and yes I have scratching posts all over!) and the other day I saw her from across the room start to scratch and I said "no, go scratch the post!". . .and she looked and me and did exactly that!!! Blew my mind! Of course she still scratches my rug when I'm not looking. oiy

I would put a hook and eye at the top of the door because otherwise she will keep working in it until she opens it.
That's a good idea. . .but if she figures it out fully then I will have to either put a hook in every doorway or change all the handles to knobs. . .because all of the doors in our house (except front door) have that handle style. . . eek. This particular one was the door to the garage and she loves to go explore in there. Although I'm not in love with her being out there. . .cars, and tools etc

Amazing cats!

My youngest kitty, Graham, is by far the smartest of my cats. One time she saw me opened the sliding window, but before that I had to press hard the rubber lock on it. The next day I went by the same window to look at something outside but did not open it. She hastily jumped on the cat tree which was placed in front of the window, looked at me, gently pawed repeatedly on the rubber lock, looked at me again, and tapped on the lock again with her paw - as if showing / teaching me how to open the window.

I looked at her in utter amazement! She remembered the lock! If only she could speak instead of just excitedly squawking.

I've read that cats have very poor short term memory. They're full of it. Cats remember things and they learn pretty quickly.
