And that is the other worry too. Her weight. When she doesn't eat too much at times, it seems like she her stomach kinda looses mass bit, but thats because I'm used to her seeing her stomach full when she does eat her full meal. So it's misleading at times. But I guess it's a good thing shes still drinking water at least?

Drinking water is a good thing, but do see if she'll eat food from your finger :)
Do you have a bathroom scale or any other way to weigh her so that you can track it?

No, no scale let alone I doubt she will get on it and be steady lol.

But, can she still get sick if she's just eating less or does she have to stop completely eating? Because she will eat fine from hand/utensil in my room. And I believe she's eating her dry food too

I guess by tonight, what recommended pill should I give? Should I try the mirtrazapine or the Cerenia? She also has a a packet of Famotidine as well.

Hi!
Because she will eat fine from hand/utensil in my room.
Personally, I'd do this, --enough quantity to be what she'd eat normally by herself and see if she eventually starts eating on her own. Talk with your vet about the meds, particularly if she doesn't start eating on her own in a day or so :)

enough quantity? You mean feed or how much she stops eating? I mean if shes eating a little at least that should be ok for few days right?

Are you charting how much she eats daily, so you can actually see changes in the amount/calories - that includes measuring the amount of dry you leave out for her? Hasn't her diminished eating gone on for close to a month this time - not just a few days? I am sorry, I somehow stopped receiving notifications on this thread, so I am a little bit behind.

You can take her to the vet to get her weighed, most likely without a vet appointment. One of the techs can take you into any of the open exam rooms and let you deal with her while they weigh her. You can even hold her, let them weigh the carrier, and then put her back in the carrier and get a weight. You need to know if she is losing weight.

The vet is the best one to tell you how to administer the meds they have prescribed. I do remember you hate the Mirtazapine, but I think - without the ultrasound - the best you can do for her is to give her the meds the vet recommended, on the schedule they recommended.

Hello there.

It's okay. I don't think it gives you updates notifications if I don't reply directly?

For one, I've literally memorized how much she would normally eat, and when she isnt eating as much, that I know for sure since last night she been eating much less. Like, Yesterday morning though she ate completely fine, her normal amount. So...over the course of the day something might have happened? But it's odd because I was with her all day and she been acting completely normal. It was just at dinner time she suddenly didnt want to eat at her bowl. She had a bout of not eating for a day...back in mid November. Just a day, then she was fine until last night again. Prior to that, she was eating less around June ish and that was like on and off consistently for like 2-3 months! but Since September up to mid November, she was completely normal.

Last time she had this spell for a prolonged got her weighed and maybe she had dropped about half a pound to a pound at most I think, but she gained it back once she started eating again. So since its been since last night she hasn't aate as much (though would eat of my hand/utensil in my room), I dont think she lost THAT much weight as I've also heard from my grandma that she fed her dry food several hours ago and ate fine. Perhaps now she has something acting up like an upset stomach?

Yeah I'm against the mirtazapine but I will attempt to cut that 1mg portion in half to try and lessen the side effects. And I don't think I could give it now because she then would be awake almost thru at least overnight and crying...so if anything I may give it to her tomorrow morning - if she doesn't eat well tonight. Then there's the Fomatidine and Cerenia I have as well but she isn't throwing up and doesn't seem nausea (Per the signs I see listed online) I was hesitant to give her that medication this morning. She seems to be drinking water just fine as I got back from work and drank water from her bowl normally, though, she did not go or jump to sink as she used to however to drink water usually every afternoon i get home from work. She looked up to thie sink, but then elected to drink from her water bowl instead.

Thanks for that info! So, if I understand correctly, Sassy's diminished eating hasn't been so long this time after all. That is good. Just ride it out and see what happens. My Feeby actually has had diminished food intake for about a week now (from averaging 300 calories a day down to 250 a day for the last week), and I am not ready to freak out just yet! I am sure there is something not right, but again she is 15+, so maybe it is just phases older cats go through. She also drinks just fine and there is no litter box issues for the most part.

I have a scale at home to weigh Feeby and she is holding steady, so far. I use that as a gauge in whether or not I need to be worried - that is why I mentioned getting Sassy weighed.

Well to your point, fair point, the fact of weighing Sassy and losing any weight is I know very scary and serious issue..because my vet told me in past that even a pound lost is alot for a cat to lose...but she wasn't weight from the issue that came up this past June...since this past February. She could have lost slightly weight over time? But for now, yeah I could get a scale..but if shes consuming less calories wouldn't she bound to lose some weight?

My family tells me not to worry (since i always do) when she doesnt eat because of her age, and to let time pass by and she will eat again some point as she has in the past. I always try to assume when she doesn't eat its her kidney disease affecting her...but so far everytime I'd give sassy just literally one pill of either/or Cerenia, famotidine and maybe mirtazapine, she would then go back to normal as she did back in February. August...though I gave her mirtazapine twice I think...felt like iit helped her but then as soon it weared off she was back to eating less so I did it one more time...then from there it was all good to go until mid Novemeber. There were days she eat slightly less in her meals here and there (left more food on plate) but the next meal ate well again so it didnt' concern me. Now, this appetite issue started last night , she did eat just not from her plate, and same went for this morning too, just ate in my room. Though she woudl still go out to the kitchen and ask for food, go to her plate, but just not eat beisdes giving it few licks. Funny thing is, there were few days in the past 2 weeks, that she would have double breakfast...where she would eat her entire fancy feast can, then ask for even MORE food dry food after. made me so happy then.

Feeby has no kidney issues, but her eating is becoming more erratic as she ages. She was mostly a dry food eater as recent as a year ago. No longer - she hardly eats dry. And, she goes on and off with her wet food (urinary care food), sometimes liking me adding baby food meat - and lately more so me adding some FF to her food. As long as I can get her back to eating a reasonable amount, I am going to consider it something we (she and me) have to deal with.

Cute pic of her - so sweet!!

Aw thanks!

Yes she means so much to me as also of late in the nights, shes been goign to sleep with me like literally right at next to my face. She drops her body and lays up against my body, so I hold her close to me and we sleep together. So this eating less at times...Ive sort started to think the same way, consider that her and me will have to deal with until her end life...

So sort of surprisingly as I thought based on how she woke up to moew at me near my chair earlier, she did eat her dinner meal like normal again. No Pill. I guess she's just a confusing cat now mysterious (since no ultrasound) but maybe its her age as well. Now she's sleeping happily with a full tummy :)

Didn't get chance to report this morning but Sassy ate very well again this morning. Cried food like always. Perhaps it was just something upsetting her stomach? Like, is that common thing? I wonder if just gets like upset stomach all these times she doesnt eat....

I was literally just thinking about you!

It could have been a hairball that upset her tummy this time, didn't you say she'd just had a poop that looked like it had hair in it? Anyway, I'm so glad she's eating!!

Happy Holidays all!

So another update, Sassy since late last month has been eating well. Up until yesterday morning where my other cat Charlie...for whatever reason he did his poop business in the kitchen near her plate...so Im assuming since she saw that and smelled it (though I cleaned it up thoroughly) she didnt want ot eat from her plate in that area because of that mess. She came to my room and ate fine. Same thing happened last night I made her smell the can but she just walked away , though not completely and once again she ate in my room. THinking would just calm down by today, no. She did the similarly where she came into kitchen but just made a U-turn and walked away under the table, and I brought her plate to her near by dinner table and she ate all her food like normal this morning. However, she seemed all good, cleaned up her face as she always does then liker 6-8 minutes later she came to pet me in my room, she was ABOUT to go to my bed lay down but she suddenly just threw up all her food on my floor.... I'm guessing she did that because she ate too fast? was kinda odd, she didnt even do like that build up action of when cat throws up. She just threw it up instantly but it was several mintues at least after she finished eating.

Then she used bathroom, ate some dry food in her plate in the usually spot kitchen (oddly) and now she resting on my bed. But Im thinking maybe she ate too fast but didnt seem like it, that she threw up all her food. Didn't look sick either.
