Late again folks. A doctor appointment today in the city. Very long trip and long day.
tarasgirl06 tarasgirl06 Something told me you would know of that music. I discovered it in the school library as a child. A vinyl record that I kept ā€œchecked outā€ for a couple of weeks. I was the school librarian so no one minded. I was hooked on classical music after that. It was a great introduction. I got a copy and still have it. I passed it on to Sarah who also loved it.
Once BJ trusted, he trusted completely. He is a true hero kitty. Love made manifest. Yes.
rubysmama rubysmama the statement I made about those who are kitty guardians are kitty heros..... kitties are kitty guardians too.

M maggiedemi I wasnā€™t worried about snakes. I did watch myself but as long as they were friendly, I just would have petted them too. Lol Besides, BJ would have protected me.
I am patching and Iā€™m glad you enjoyed the story and pics of BJ. There are far more than I posted so I enjoyed reviewing them as I looked for pictures to post. Heā€™s quite a fellow.

Mamanyt1953 Mamanyt1953 Thank you for the wishes for Miss R. I think you would have enjoyed talking to her. Quite the book of knowledge.
I had fun looking back at the BJ story too. He made me earn my way to him and it was worth every mosquito bite. Lol

To you and Furballsmom Furballsmom It is great to see the difference when he ā€œbecame someoneā€™s cat.ā€ I wish everyone could realize the change it makes in their lives. He is so relaxed now. He no longer has to be vigilant every second just to live.

I saw a new specialist today and the topic of cats came up. Lol The PA was telling me of a feral colony on one of the islands. It was a bit frustrating because she really doesnā€™t care in the same way that we do. I tried to get her to tell the person feeding them about TNR and TCS but I could tell she wasnā€™t that interested. What she fails to understand though, is that I will return! :yess: Next time the info will be handed to her in writing and in a bouquet of flowers.

I returned home to very unhappy kitties. Apparently we had a visitor while I was gone. Iā€™m not sure who or what they did but the cats were very nervous. I know my outer door was not as I left it so I know someone probably knocked. Fortunately I came home bearing gifts. Treats and.....well, youā€™ll see. For tonight Iā€™ll just show you the reaction from BJ.

100 pom Pom toys!

Bj, I know you donā€™t care about toys but at least look!

Ahhh! The green one looks like Froggie?

Oh. Itā€™s not Froggie so you donā€™t care?

Itā€™s actually a hat BJ.

Lol! !!!! He kept it there! Heā€™s cat and clothes horse! So now I know, buy BJ clothes instead of toys. More specifically, hats and glasses.

Have a great night/morning everyone! :heartshape:

OMC! Hoping no one actually got in?!!
And hoping the appt. went well. How are you feeling? I wonder frequently but don't want to be a pest asking again and again.
TYSVVVM for talking TNR and cat advocacy! Sometimes Best Friends gets 'em hooked because their site is so beautiful and so comprehensive. ACA is always good, too.
My dad loved so many type of music including classical, and I guess I assimilated all of it from birth onwards. The house was frequently full of music. I've grown to love some of his favorites, too, like the 1812 Overture. I never really "got" that until recently. Now it makes me very emotional!
We've loved Drs. Foster & Smith catnip over the years, and a jar of it always came with several pompons which we still have, along with around 1/3 of the last jar of their 'nip. Oh, how we miss them!

Petting snakes? Ewww! šŸ˜®šŸ˜®šŸ˜®šŸšŸšŸ

I am patching
I have evidence that cats help with the patching. ;):catrub:

Oh dear. I hope it wasn't a burglar. šŸ™€

But seriously... I could not help myself. She's really enjoying being an indoor cat and if you met her, you almost wouldn't be able to tell that she spent the past decade or more on the streets.

tarasgirl06 tarasgirl06 I donā€™t know for sure if anyone got in but if they did, I havenā€™t discovered anything missing yet. I have asked my neighbors to keep watch. Hoping it wasnā€™t a neighbor too! Lol
Dad dad da da da da da dum dum dum! My Dad used to play the 1812 Overture as well. He had a passion for great phonograph equipment and the speakers would practically quiver at the end. I developed a very wide appreciation for music that Sarah also enjoyed. She had her own favorites as well. Vivaldi Four Seasons is the first that comes to mind. Her pediatrician liked Opera and I was not well versed in that but he made tapes for Sarah that we both enjoyed. I grew up with a couple of folk music singers practicing in our home. I am still in touch with one of them and he recently brought me his most recent recordings. I still love hearing him sing and play. He plays some of the old music but has also written some lovely songs. I also enjoy George Winston, modern popular music and almost any other type. Music can move us in many ways.
Iā€™m always going to advocate for cats. Iā€™ll be working on that lady. Lol In fact, I went around her to let others know about the colony she mentioned. I donā€™t know if they will locate it but itā€™s worth trying.
My appointment was a bit frustrating since the specialist and my GP donā€™t seem to agree on anything. Lol My GP sent me there too. It seems that a fracture was missed? Hmmmm. May be going for a ā€œCatā€ scan. The cat will figure it out. ;) Itā€™s still a matter of just healing. Itā€™s nice to be asked and checked on!:redheartpump: Caring is always appreciated.

M maggiedemi I know you do understand about the travel AND the doctor visits. Neither is fun. It seems we both have some healing to do and I hope yours is going well. Mine is slow but antiques are harder to glue together.,:flail:

You really made me laugh with the Ewww about petting snakes. I would show you a photo but most people would go Ewwww!
The friendly ones are really not yucky to pet. Not furry but kind of nice. The king snake that lives here is very tame and calm. It knows me now and doesnā€™t run. I donā€™t think it is scared of me now. That is one of the very best kinds of snakes to have around. They protected the kitties when they were outside from aggressive snakes. Me too!

Cats definitely help with patching. I have a patching crew here and Iā€™d be lost without them.

If it was a burglar, they came to the wrong house. I had one once but I scared them away and they didnā€™t come back. Boo! ;)

Graceful-Lily Graceful-Lily Well hi! Itā€™s so nice to see you and Fayola. She looks so good now. Those are really sweet pictures. It makes me very happy to see her happy and playing now. Thanks to you for doing that for her. Sheā€™s such a beautiful kitty! :)

Asking for prayers, hopes, good vibes and wishes for a 14 year old kitty that needs to be adopted quickly in California. :vibes::redheartpump:

I had to put the broom out the door to get him to move away but I got the trash put away. I kept my promise though. This is the same youngster that visited during the storm. I guess he couldnā€™t find supper tonight anywhere else. Since I donā€™t want him after Froggie, I put some cat food away from the door. Heā€™s busy eating out by the trash cans now. He looks really happy as heā€™s munching away. Heā€™s got such a cute little face. Froggie is safe. I found him well above the back door.

Pom poms are everywhere now. Mitsy has collected a few! Lol

Yes, classical music is amazing. As for opera, I'm not a huge fan, but there are some singers I love including, but not limited to, Renee Fleming, Andrea Bocelli, and the immortal Callas.
I sure hope no one got in! and that your neighbors do watch out and are NOT involved in any funny business.
*PRAYERS* for that 14-year-old CA cat! This is CATifornia and (s)he should find a loving permanent home and person/family here.
Slither, "our" Pine-Gopher snake, felt silky, smooth, warm and lovely! I only touched her (him?) once, briefly, because I didn't want to stress the snake out. But snakes are NOT slimy, cold, or in any other way unpleasant to touch. I don't understand the bias some people have against them -- the same Creator made them as made us!
I'm definitely with Whistle on the green pompons as green is my favorite color. You just can't have too many green ones!
Such a cute little possum. They do love dry cat food!
So nice to see Froggie Prince and his loving Banjo visiting.
Hope that fracture heals quickly!

If they are poisonous and bite me, I only have like 15 minutes to live, and a 30 minute drive to the hospital, so no way am I petting them.

Most snakes are NOT venomous! They are harmless to humans. They have a lot more to fear from us than we do from them. Let them alone and they are no threat to humans. Most snakes only bite in self-defense. But yes, most times, it's best just to let them live their snakey lives and not touch.;)

Somehow, I must have missed them. :( Can you briefly post her story here?
That's alright, it was in pieces anyway.

This year, early to mid July, I noticed a white cat in my rotation during feeding time. I thought Fayola was a male kitten at first. "He" looked very sick to me, thin and runny eyes. I then made it my mission to capture that cat. Unfortunately, Fayola stopped showing up for a few days so we (the first rescue and I) thought that she might have passed. To my surprised, she came back for food a few days later and continued to do so in the days leading up to her capture.

I set the trap for the calico kitten and Fayola but Admiral went in instead. Calico kitten was treated and Admiral was euthanized (due to being in poor shape). On July 27th, I set a trap for Fayola and caught her successfully. Calico kitten was stunned by the capture so she stopped showing up for a few days which gave Fayola an opportunity to come and eat as much as she could.

At first, she was supposed to go to the shelter to be fixed but I realized that she was in fact female and seemed pregnant. We call her 'Sweet Girl' because of her adorable face but also because the first time I heard her purr was when I called her 'Sweet Girl'. I used a wand toy we had at the time to pet her and she lifted up her bum. That's when I realized that she was indeed a female cat. And at one point, she was relaxing on her side and I realized that her nipples were larger than normal. I posted about her being pregnant and if it would be unethical to terminate the pregnancy. I eventually decided to keep her because I thought she was due any day. Boy, was I wrong.

7 weeks went by before she delivered her 4 beautiful kitties September 10th. During that time, I had realized that she was also Felix's mother. One of the kittens passed away unfortunately.

I had a gut feeling that something was wrong so I contacted another rescue to help. They fixed Fayola up and the kittens went to a foster bottle feeder.

The name Fayola means "lucky/fortunate". It's a play on Felix's name which also means "lucky".

I guess you can call her a foster fail but I feel like it's fate she came back after all these years. Prior to her capture, I hadn't seen her since Felix was a kitten. I used to feed her in my backyard when I was only 12 years old. Now, I'm almost 21.

I think that's it.

tarasgirl06 tarasgirl06 As you know, I love Bocelli too. Iā€™m not really an Opera fan either but there seems to be a bit of almost every type of music that I do find I like. Except maybe for Rap. Lol Maybe I just havenā€™t found the piece I like yet? I keep an open mind.
Slither! I love the name. Snakes do get a bad rap. Although I leave them alone for the most part, I have removed them from being mowed or run over but I would never fool with one that is venemous. I suggest that no one unfamiliar with snakes ever try to handle one. My Uncle was in charge of the living creatures at a local Science center here and he did some work with snakes so I got a lot of exposure and education about them. He had an Anaconda at home. Lol Yikes! Biiiig boy! I prefer kitties at home.
We all agree here that green is beautiful! Especially Froggie green. Banjo guarded that Pom Pom all night.
Thanks about the fracture. Iā€™m sure it is healing.

rubysmama rubysmama The story of Fayola is one I did link here but there were difficulties so I put a spoiler alert at the time. Itā€™s wonderful that she looks soooo happy now. Sheā€™s a beauty! Happy ending for sure.

If you want to see a sweet story that is going on right now......
Help, I found a feral kitten.
An absolutely beautiful kitten was found and has the most wonderful human helping him. The photos will make you Awwwww!

M maggiedemi That is a young opossum. He first came here for shelter during a storm. A lot of critters showed up around that time. Did you see the Armadillos? They are cute too!
Banjo is the leader of the patching crew. Besides making me laugh she found me a tube of gorilla glue! Lol

Maybe Demi likes yellow because itā€™s a reminder of butterflies and flowers!
And , NO! Donā€™t pet any snakes.

I spent the day sharing stories of my friend but resting some this evening. Itā€™s getting chilly here and the kitties wanted to cuddle so we did! I brought out lots of blankets and we had a snuggle fest! They also picked out a new toy on Chewy! Muffin finally convinced me to place an order and see how we like Chewy. We got kitty food, litter, Flea treatments that kill larvae ( the one we have been using is the same brand but doesnā€™t kill eggs or larvae do we are going to switch up to see if it works) we also ordered some DE to try. Then we got to the toy section! My goodness they have a lot to choose from. We found a toy bird that is stuffed with catnip but also makes a bird noise if they touch it. Iā€™m kind of thinking that Whistle might be scared or it but some of the others may like it. I have seen a lot of people here mention their cats loving the toy springs so we got a giant package of those. I think theyā€™ll be a big hit. Banjo helped me place the order and the lady was very helpful. We chatted a bit at the end and , since she noticed I ordered a rather large amount of food  the conversation came around to cat rescues and TCS! Give me an opening.....Iā€™m going to take it! I let her know that I had placed the order with them because of seeing them on TCS and having someone here suggest them to me. The talk came around to my rescues and that I want to encourage others to rescue too. I talked about what everyone here does and how many happy endings come about here. It ended with her saying she was going to tell their customers about us!:yess: She said she will be encouraging them to get involved in TNR and rescues in their areas. :bunnydance:I really think she will too! Sometimes you can tell that people are just mildly interested but she kept me talking long after the sale was completed and she was very enthusiastic. It wasnā€™t a sales tactic, she was really interested and asked many good questions. New recruit!?!?!? She is in a position to spread the word! She even stopped me to take down some information!šŸ˜ŗ Maybe another kitty will be rescued as a result or another TNR group will pop up where none existed before. I invited her to join us on the site. The more people actively in our corner, the better. I love it when an opportunity arises. I hope I said all the right things to convince her.

Here is the day with the kitties.

Itā€™s getting cooler here now.

BJ decided to share the warmth with his lady Flowers. No surprise there!

I tried to get Goldie, Blue and Mountain to allow some photos but they donā€™t always enjoy the spotlight. I got the front of Blue and the back of Mountain. Goldie said,ā€ no photos please!ā€

Blue did oblige with a beautiful shot of his beautiful face. You can see that he and BJ are related but the eyes are certainly different!

Just as I was about to stop taking pictures, I got our smile for tonight.

Mackie walked in to be with Mom for awhile. My laughing cat was laughing.

Mom, guess where I just came from!
DC7090BC-A61C-4C8A-B765-F026947AF784.jpeg

Iā€™ll give you a hint. Thereā€™s toilet paper stuck to my foot. Hahahahahahahaha!
5F4C5009-BAED-464B-93FA-12F7EE7A1A97.jpeg

He then proceeded to walk across the room , trailing a long piece of paper. He seemed to be happy for it to stay there too.

I went into the bathroom to investigate and expected to find a destroyed roll of tissue. Nope! Just a couple of pieces were removed. I guess he only needed enough to stick to his foot for a laugh. He really is my laughing cat! :flail:

Have a happy night/morning everyone and make sure nothing sticks to your foot today!

I guess you can call her a foster fail but I feel like it's fate she came back after all these years. Prior to her capture, I hadn't seen her since Felix was a kitten. I used to feed her in my backyard when I was only 12 years old. Now, I'm almost 21.
Thanks for sharing Fayola's story. :lovecat3: And thanks for helping the cats. :petcat:

I have removed them from being mowed or run over but I would never fool with one that is venemous.
I'm not a fan of snakes, but I'd never want to hurt them. Unfortunately, I mowed into one once. It was a green garter snake. A neighbour picked it up with a shovel and put it in the backyard behind the shed. I didn't see it again, or go looking for it, but hope it didn't die.

rubysmama rubysmama rubysmama rubysmama The story of Fayola is one I did link here but there were difficulties so I put a spoiler alert at the time. Itā€™s wonderful that she looks soooo happy now. Sheā€™s a beauty! Happy ending for sure.
I remember that now. And because of your warning, I didn't click the link. So glad she had a happy ending. :catlove:

If you want to see a sweet story that is going on right now......
Help, I found a feral kitten.
An absolutely beautiful kitten was found and has the most wonderful human helping him. The photos will make you Awwwww!
Thanks. I'll check it out.

You are true advocate for cats, and for TCS. Thanks. :bouquet:

Sorry about the loss of your friend. :( I remember having a best friend who would call everyday on the phone. I don't have one now, living way out here.

I haven't been to a dollar store in forever, I should check them out.
You can check out the online version as well.

tarasgirl06 tarasgirl06 As you know, I love Bocelli too.

Your FURmily is so lovely, every one of them! But I must confess, aesthetically speaking, to being a huge Bonjure fan :redheartpump::blackcat2::redheartpump:
Hoping everyone enjoys their Chewy order! We're still with Petco.com for the time being as they stock Soulistic foods, which are some of our favorites, but we've heard good things about Chewy.

rubysmama rubysmama It truly is a happy ending for Fayola. The kitten I posted the link about got a vet check today and SHE is reported to be healthy. Good news!
Iā€™m glad you got a chuckle from my laughing boy. He does funny stuff a lot but trailing the tissue was a new one.
I think everyone here advocates for cats. Itā€™s a united effort that I am always grateful to be a part of.

catsknowme catsknowme Itā€™s great to see you here! Online dollar store! Yippee! Iā€™ll check it out. You never know what they will have next!

Furballsmom Furballsmom Blue is a beauty! I just love the one blue eye and one green. His personality is much like BJ except that he is shy. He is totally devoted to his wife and child too. Itā€™s really heart warming to see the affection they share. I think if I had not brought them in first, we would have had a lot more furry kitties. He was the Dad to Harlequin and siblings. Very beautiful fluff babies.

tarasgirl06 tarasgirl06 I know what you mean about Bonjure. Heā€™s like a giant fur snuggle bunny. I love the contrast of the golden yellow eyes against that black coat. You would love his purrsonality too. He still thinks he is a human baby and puts his front paws around my neck to be picked up and held. I think he would be happy in one of those pouch baby carriers all the time if I could take the weight.

I checked out Petco. Their site is very similar and seems to be equally priced. I did see the food you mentioned. Iā€™d love to try some new food on the kitties here but they always turn up their noses when I try. :dunno: I have bought lots of different types to attempt getting them on some duck or other foods. So far they just look at me like I offered them hot peppers and rutabagas. The reviews on the food you use were very good. Here itā€™s 54 cans a day though! Plus dry. I may try it to see if theyā€™ll eat it. Iā€™d like to see Mackie and BJ on something else if theyā€™ll tolerate it.
Both places offer auto ship so if I like anything from either, I could alternate. :)

The kitties have been all over me today. It must be happy cat day. Lol Perhaps they are just glad I bought toys somewhere besides the usual place!

It started with Banjo! :kitty:

please. The others did make a spot for her. Lol I wonder if number five is coming? :flail:

Have a great night everyone! :heartshape:
