Hima Threw Up And I Think It’s Because Of Dinner. Is This Vomit Concerning?

She never throws up but in the past (months ago) she regurgitated right after eating when I accidentally gave her a food she doesn’t like.

7 hours prior to vomiting she ate a small amount her leftover wet food. This one stayed on the plate longer than it does usually like maybe an hour. I was actually a bit worried about that — normally she eats half an hour old food at most. She MIGHT have regurgitated afterward too there was a small color difference to my eyes on the sheet but it’s towel-like texture so it would get dried even if there was regurgitation.

Around 7 hours after this at 05:45am she threw up yellow foamy liquid. First licked lips a lot, then sat down, stomach cramps and threw up. She acts normal so far (having zoomies an hour later in fact), no fever, she ate dry food like 5 minutes later. I gave her some malt paste just in case it’s hairball.

I’ll take her to the vet if things get worse of course but is there anything concerning here?

I wouldn’t think an hour old food would cause her to be sick. Sounds like she threw up bile. My dog sometimes does this. When she was a small puppy she’d do it during the middle of the night and the vet said her stomach was empty and needed a snack during the night and sure enough she got a snack and it stopped. Maybe try feeding her more smaller meals if it keeps happening.

One time when cleaning up the vomit we found a piece of plastic in it. So is it possible she ate anything she shouldn’t have?
She could have a furball.
My cats did it on occasion too but we never looked into it much because it very rarely happened. If it stops she’s probably fine. If she keeps doing it I would take her in and be checked for medical conditions hopefully it’s just something that happens once and clears itself up.

She already eats small meals throughout the day. She had dry food in her bowl ready. This puking happened in the bed. She sleeps with me I woke up to her licking her lips and then she puked :(

How old is your cat?
Licking their lips can be a sign of them about to puke.
I personally right now wouldn’t worry too much until it happens more especially since it sounds like she’s running around acting fine and still eating. Keep an eye on her if she keeps doing it or acts different then normal get it checked.

She’s pretty young so I would lean more to thinking hair ball but infection kidney or liver issue and endocrine issues are possible. If it’s once the vet will probably hold off on testing if it happens more they probably would run a full blood test

Okay now she’s actually nauseous WHILE eating. After dinner her stomach cramped several times. 3-4 hours later I gave her a bite-size boiled chicken and she was clearly fighting to not take it off while eating. Like mouth chewing but stomach cramping and head shaking like she’s about to puke. She went outside in less than 5 minutes but didn’t puke in that period.

Does this sound like a hairball? I gave her malt paste in the morning. She ate a few grass as well an hour before the chicken.

If she’s an outside cat then maybe you should get her checked cause you don’t know what she may have gotten into. We found my cat outside and when we brought her in she was throwing up everywhere she had worms and I know parasites can cause vomiting too.

With her unknown past it would be ideal to have her checked out. She could use some Cerenia for the vomiting, fluids in case of dehydration, and honestly some bloodwork would be nice for (if nothing else) a baseline of what her organ function is like. Even if normal at least you will know for future reference.
