I found out something I didn't know about venomous snakes vs. non venomous snakes. Did you know...non venomous snakes have round pupils and a split cross type pattern of scales below the anus. Venomous snakes have a slit pupil and a linear scales below the anus.
I didn't believe this so I looked up pictures of a gopher snake and the pupils were round. Of course then I had to check out my girl. It took awhile to get her to put her head on the back of my hand, (she likes to wrap in my fingers), but her eyes are definitely slitted and she has the linear scales.
I guess this is true then. I never knew that.
Hmmm. . .I have a boa constrictor and he has slit pupils. And I'm pretty sure the ball pythons do too, but I can't find a picture online of one with light-colored eyes to confirm, lol. Corn snakes do have round pupils though.

Ah, OK, apparently that does apply to most native snakes in the US, but not all snakes in the world. That makes sense.

So your girl is venomous? Did you have her de-venomed? What is her name?
Some snakes are technically venomous but not dangerous to humans. I don't remember what kind kashmir64 has but hognoses are common pet snakes that are venomous but no danger to humans (their fangs are too far back plus their venom is mild to mammals, but toxic to frogs and toads).

She's rear fanged venomous. Only affects her prey. I've been tagged by her (my fault) and my finger went a little numb. Unless you have an allergic reaction, her venom is totally harmless to humans. Her name is Hathor.

Are you familiar with the area?
Very familiar. I lived on 91st Ave and Pinnacle Peak for 7 years. Used to be unincorporated with desert and orange groves. Now it's strip malls. "They paved paradise and put up a parking lot".

Exactly this. She's a Chihuahuan Night Snake. She's only 16"-18". Hard to get a measurement on her when she won't unwind from my fingers when I pick her up.

ME: *says It's Elmo's World in a high nasel voice randomly for fun*

My tic disorder:

ME:

Hey, brain, if we could just stick to my hnnn tic THAT WOULD BE GREAT THANKS. I don't need another tic, really. I'm content with always sounding intrigued by some unknown thing randomly throughout the day and constantly looking like I'm trying to jerk non-existent bangs out of my eyes and giving no one a 'sup nod. Thankfully the urge has mostly passed now, but that would have been so not good lol I will never say that sentence aloud again

Oh, she is beautiful!! What a darling girl! She looks like she is posing! Love your nails!
Thanks. I've been trying to power feed her before she goes into hibernation for the season, but lizards have been hard to find this year.

I used to have dry brittle nails so I started using a cracked hoof remedy on them - Arrow (something). It's an ointment of sorts you just rub in the cuticles. I had a mare that cracked her hoof so I had it, figured "why not". I haven't had to use it in years, but they still grow like weeds. That stuff is great.

Just found out that a good guy friend of mine thinks I'm kinda cute and apparently might ask me out...I really hope he doesn't. I've only ever seen him as an older brother (he's nine years older). I also just don't want to date anyone in general right now. I'm trying to focus on my mental health and personal life and don't want the complications of a potential romantic relationship added to the mix.

I'm now kinda dreading seeing him again and normally I can't wait to see him because he's like my best bud and the only good thing about this hell hole of a job (he is a radiologist here).

If he asks me out, I'll probably just tell him part of the truth, which is I don't want to date anyone. He's so sweet and a big soft teddy bear, hurting him and making things awkward would suck.

I had a friend, who asked me out. We were in a relationship for only 3 months when we realized we made better friends. We have been friends for almost 18 years now. He's my BFF.

Just tell the guy, you don't want to ruin the friendship you have by having an intimate relationship. If he's a good friend, he should agree with this.

I'm driving down the highway with my son and a coyote bolts out in front of me. Nothing strange there. I had to slam on my brakes to keep from hitting him. He dropped something from his mouth and bolted across the road. I thought when I saw something in his mouth it was prey. No, it was a tennis ball. We laughed all the way home.
Where did he even get one? Just goes to show, all canines like to play with a tennis ball.
