My cat had a litter of four kittens. All orange just like her. Sadly, the runt and only boy passed away. We also have a litter of four dark colored boys that my cat adopted. We now have seven kittens total. My boyfriend and I agreed that we can only keep one.

As you can see, I love all of them. I tried not to get attached but I'm attached to all of them. I know that I'm definitely going to keep one of the orange ones because even though I'm a sucker for all cats, I have a soft spot for orange ones. And it makes it even better that they have my awesome cat's blood. One of them we've already nicknamed Derpina/Derpana (Derpana is named after her mom Kibana) (Derp and Derpy for short) because she looks kinda derpy and I can't help but smile and laugh when I look at her. I know I will probably end up picking her because she just makes me smile so much by just LOOKING AT HER DERP FACE. But the other two orange ones are so cute too. They are a little more fluffy than Derp and they kinda look like orange Persians with fat faces.

They're all just so freaking cute. The darker ones are cute too. I'm so mad at myself that I got attached to all of them... We're going to have to start finding them homes in a couple weeks and I just can't bear the thought.

Imagine a gang of four orange cats. Mama cat and her three babies. Omg I would die.

How do I come to terms with not being able to keep all of them. I know we can't afford all of them.. why is this so hard for me lol. I know for sure I'm not going to be able to part with Derpy especially since we've already kind of named her. It's not going to be her real name, just her nickname.

Ugh someone help. We've also called the all black one with white socks Frank (boyfriend calls him Frankenf*ck) and I know my boyfriend wanted a male and hes leaning towards that one but he said he's leaving the final decision up to me ITS TOO MUCH PRESSURE I WANT ALL OF THEM

Are you sure you can't keep Derpy and Frank? It sounds like you kind of already picked both of them since you gave them both names. I know the two of you agreed to keep only one, but you if keep the orange one that you like, and he keeps the black one that he likes best, you are technically sticking to the agreement, because you are each keeping just one.

Idk I've thought of that but I don't think it's going to work. I've joked around about it already like he will say "we can only keep one" and I will joke "we're keeping all of them" and he'll say "no just one" and I'll be like "two" and he laughs but says no. I really don't think we can keep more than one.. I really just need to know how to let go of the others before we give them up. It's so hard lol

Maybe you can tell him what I said. You keep ONE and he keeps ONE. :lol2:

If that doesn't work, it sounds like you have your heart set on Derpy, and he did tell you that you have the final decision.

Although you are attached to all of them, giving them up is what is best for them. Eight cats (including the mama) is way too many for the average person to handle unless they have A LOT of extra money laying around and plenty of extra time. Giving them away would not only relieve your financial burden but would also ensure that each kitten receives plenty of individual love and attention, not that you don't love them already.

Spaying and neutering is fairly expensive and mom needs that very soon and the kitten(s) you keep within a couple months. Then there are kitten visits and immunizations. So it is sort of a financial decision about how many you can really afford.

I know that. She's getting spayed as soon as they are weaned and we are definitely rehoming all except one. I just have to get over it. I'll keep reminding myself how expensive it would be and how I'd definitely get no sleep ever again

You are right. It's selfish to want to keep them all and it would be best for them to go to homes that would have time to love them all individually and not have to have their time divided. I'll remind myself of that when the time comes. Thank you

If you really can't choose, find new homes for everyone and keep the last kitten left :D. Or wait until someone comes to pick a kitten out and you panic that they'll pick THAT kitten, and then you know who you can't live without. It's really hard!

That really sounds like a great idea! Waiting until someone comes to pick one and I start panicking. Thank you!!

We're definitely keeping Derpy and I've been trying to throw in the idea of keeping one of the darker ones also because the little runt Iago has taken a liking to both of us but especially my boyfriend. It doesn't help that we've named almost all of them lol
