Hello I’m new to 5his site and need some support or advice, We have a 4 year old spayed Chihuahua, a 18 month old Sheltie, and a 4 month old Sheltie, a Bengal cross Siamese neutered 9 months old, a pure Bengal 12 months old also spayed whom all were rubbing along quite nicely.
I went away for 5 days my Bengal disappeared, we put up posters and a lady rang to say she thought she was a stray and had been feeding her as she loves cats. My Bengal has never liked being picked up so I ha£ to find a way of showing her where she lived, meanwhile this lady came around and said she needs to be rehomed, she can’t live here. The dogs were barking because she had knocked on the door and that’s what they do until there told to stop and settle down, this lady then said I shouldn’t be having the cat because of the dogs your not supposed to have both together she stated.
I went around her house and saw my Bengal but she didn’t want to come to me so I left.
The next morning I went to the house again and the lady said what are you doing, I stated I was going to give my Bengal some Tuna to tempt her home, oh no I’ve just fed her she said don’t give her that you’ll make her sick, I ignored the woman then saw my Bengal behind her, I called to her showed he4 the Tuna and she came to me, the lady shut the tall gate and my Bengal followed me home.
This happened today and I’ve let her go outside and she’s come back home again, I’m ecstatic she came back to us. I’ve tried to phone this lady as she gave me her number but no answer so I’ve sent her a polite message asking her not to feed my cat on any circumstances or to allow her into he4 house.
I’m not going to rehome her I love her she’s happy and she’s ours. Please feel free to comment, sorry it’s a bit long winded
Regards Lynne

Hi!
I'm confused, why would you rehome her? The other person's comments have no bearing on what you do.

However, keeping any cat, never mind such a gorgeous cat, inside when you know you have people like this lady, and others who are less kind to cats, along with all the extremely negative things that can happen to a cat outside that aren't necessarily due to humans, would seem to me to be good enough reasons to keep this cat inside.

Hi well she said I should rehome her because the dogs barked when she knocked at the door and would frighten the cat. I said the dogs were doing their job and settle down when asked to with no problem. The cats are used to the dogs but Tikka my Bengal goes crazy if she can’t get outside. Actually the lady has just this minute been on the phone to me and said she won’t feed her any more and she was pleased to see Tikka following me home and no Tikka is staying with us. Thanks so much for replying

You're welcome, and I'm glad your neighbor is so nice about things!
You'll be keeping Tikka as an indoor-only kitty and not letting her roam outside?

No she needs to go out or she wails and makes an awful noise, she’s always gone out since she was old enough to, she goes out with our other cat Billy. She can get back to us she’s proved that today after we went out for an hour.

Hopefully microchipped too. I would make sure she has a collar with proper ID on her as well. Keep pictures and records of her from the vet and the breeder in case this lady tries to keep your cat.

Keep in mind that if you have a purebred cat and allow it to wander, people could well either entice her into their house as happened before, or simply steal her. As jen said, it's imperative that she's at least microchipped.
I'm glad this is sorted. :)

Hi guys yes she’s spayed and microchipped and wears a collar, I think she’s just a wanderer, the vet did say Bengals do like to roam but I’m allergic to ordinary moggies that’s why I have anti allergic cats.
