The RR food should be fine for a treat! I have not heard of those foods causing any real problems; if that were the case, it would be all over the internet. In fact, my vet told me that for some cats, fish should be totally avoided & she has seen cats getting urinary problems from Tiki and other expensive brands because of all the seafood. That said, cats are durable and they have an excellent sense of smell that can detect more odors than dogs so they can tell the diseases in the animal used in the food. That is why cats are so "finicky" - they can smell & taste something "off" or disgusting.
Too bad about your mom. I am from a strong culture and know how controlling some moms can be. After my dad died, i had to move in with my mom (she is almost 90) and gave up most of my freedoms. And if I insist on having my own life, she can be verbally cruel to my adult disabled daughter or my things will go missing or thrown away or broken. My siblings live out of state.

There was a lawsuit last year over it because of pesticides and roundup. It was all over last years news here but not sure if it changed.

Looks like the lawsuit was dropped:

Rachael Ray Nutrish Dog Food Class Action Gets Dumped | Top Class Actions

Personally I am not super concerned about it being fed. Sounds like the ingredient was not in a large enough quantity to cause concern (and it was focused on dog food, although I would assume their cat food processing would be similar). As a caution I probably wouldn’t feed it exclusively, but I don’t see feeding it as a treat to be a huge issue.

Personally I hate it when they mention an ingredient also found in something else like Roundup - it implies that Roundup is in the food, when it’s only one ingredient. I find that somewhat misleading.

Thanks. you just never know these days, but then again if we knew what all was in our food we may not eat again. (Like formeldehyde in packaged bread)

I'm sorry because I can't remember, but, do you have a job outside of your home? Have you considered asking your boss if it's OK to have your cat supplies sent to your work? I know I get things sent to my work all the time, because there is a better chance that someone will be there to sign if need be.

No I don't have a job as I'm home with a very elderly, and difficult mother and guess this post is no longer any good. The kitten was taken and Treasure is mad at me never to return. Treasure played surrogate mother today. I'm sitting here crying.

Oh. no!!! Is Treasure your cat? How was the kitten taken? Your situation is not an easy one and I feel that most people don't understand, especially if they put their elders in assisted living. I had to move in with my mom - give up working, hiking, church, friendships, relationships, my cats....and the control and the criticism is every bit as abusive as if it came from a boyfriend or husband plus the manipulation is more difficult because the elderly and the disabled have rights and caregivers do NOT.

I found the kitten a good home. I couldn’t just leave her outside because of raccoons and groundhogs. Treasure and the other 4 (maybe 3 if my fears of the kitten’s mother is true) are all outside. They were all feral cats that came from a hoarding situation TNRD and found their way here on the day I came home from urgent care due to fractured humerus bone. I spent one year working with these cats, much to my Mom’s disapproval ( she’s allergic). Treasure is now domesticated, her best friend and littermate Shaman is close. Wichapi and Noobs are getting closer to me. Shadow, the suspected mother was run off by a very possessive Treasure and has not been seen for over a month. I had no idea that Shadow could have been pregnant as the local feral society swore up and down that Shadow was too old to go in heat and have kittens. Yesterday I go outside and Treasure had this kitten with her. Treasure and Shaman are always together in my yard. Both have very prominent tipped ears from TNR and Shaman hated the kitten.

All in all I wanted to do for the kitten what I couldn’t do for Shadow although I tried which is find a home. Shadow was the alpha cat during the hoarding days and not well liked by these cats. Treasure played foster Mom yesterday and bonded too closely.

Sadly Treasure has moved on to someone else because of this situation. She did not show up for supper last night and she did not come this morning. I have known cats in the past that held grudges (my cousin had one) and guess this is the case now with Treasure.

:alright: True love is letting go, sometimes. Please be kind to yourself during this time of grief. Were it not for cats, I would have gone mad. You did the right thing in sending the kitten to a good homing situation.
