Anyone shopping? What deals are looking good to you?

Last year I bought a few things, but this year nothing is catching my eye and it may be a pass for me.

Nope. I was seriously considering the Instant Pot, but decided against it.

(I may check out some DVDs during the day.)

I just ordered a new (Acer) laptop. Mine had been dying a slow death, and Mowgli delivered the death blow by knocking it off my desk last weekend. It's the same one DH has, but €200 ($225) off for Prime Day. I'd been planning on getting a smaller, cheaper one, but the deal was too good to pass up.

Glad you found a deal! :clapcat:

I just got a few brass fogger nozzles for the palm garden.

But Amazon, like Walmart, can be a deal with the Devil.

On the one hand, the selection is unsurpassed. On the other hand, they're out to crush and destroy their competition. Like Walmart did in many places.

Capitalism works best if there's real competition among viable alternatives. When that collapses into monopoly or oligopoly, you can have a market that serves itself better than you.

So, I try, for example to get as many of my pet supplies like flea killer from places other than Amazon, even if they're a wee bit more money. There's a few things where the Big A offers far and away the best deals. But not too many, and I suggest cultivating alternatives for their own sake.

So far I bought DS a stuffed raccoon for $7.18. :lol2: He LOVES raccoons. The Tooth Fairy may leave this instead of cash.

It looks like there is a deal on some enzyme cleaner with good reviews. So we will see. My Kindle Paperwhite has reset itself on me a few times recently but I really don't want to get a new one till my birthday at least.

I stopped shopping at Amazon about 9 months ago because they definitely do not pay the amount of taxes that they should and their employees are treated like dirt. Nobody should have the type of wealth that Jeff Bezos has.

I really hate that he got BILLIONS of dollars in subsidies after that totally vile beauty contest for the second headquarters.

No. It looks like a gimmick to get me to buy something I don't need. If I do need something, I'll find a sale somewhere.

The Amazon workers are striking for prime day so I'm steering clear, not hard as I worked all day and don't have extra to spend anyways.

So have mine and my m-i-l's; it's happened a few times since the last software update, but they're both working okay otherwise. I thought I simply had too many books on mine, but she has lots of space, so it's probably a glitch in the latest software.

Now that I've ordered the laptop I've stopped looking at the deals. i'd looked for a new laptop at stores and online and hadn't bought one because I knew Prime Day was coming.

I stocked up on Greenies because they're the only treats Cookie likes. I was hoping for good camera deals because I wrecked mine at the tide pools. Other than that I've just been ordering things for other people that don't have Prime.
Prime day has been really disappointing this year. Usually, I use sales to stock up on pet and school supplies for the year.

Ooo good to know! Hopefully that will stop then. The last 2 times I was downloading long books so I thought that probably did it.

I haven't looked yet today. I also was looking at school supply stuff but nothing caught my eye. I already picked up a few things via deals a few weeks ago. They were better deals then!

If anyone is interested in BasePaws it is 20% off (99$ normal price on Amazon) during Prime Day. I had an email earlier in the month from BasePaws with a discount, so I've already sent mine in. They have already received my kits and responded. Now for the waiting...... I normally would not have ordered the kits, but I decided with my gift cards (not from BasePaws) I would start a learning journey with my younger kitties. I am no Spring Chick, so all of this new information is pretty cool to me. And I believe BasePaws has good intentions. Apparently I'm in the early stages with them, because the emails they have sent say I receive updates for life with my account. No matter how many kitties I purchase kits for. So, for anyone who might be interested, a pretty good coupon. (P.S. BasePaws did email me before the Prime event as well).

Not so much a prime deal, I'm not a member and usually try and buy whatever from elsewhere if I can, but a couple days ago needed something from them, they offered a free trial of prime and so I didn't have to pay shipping. That worked :)
