Basically my cat really likes to go outside and is very curious. But I’m afraid of letting her outside on her own in case she gets lost or is run over by a car. I can’t always go outside with her when she wants to and she is very full of energy. If I let her outside on her own will she come back home? When I call her name she only comes sometimes so I’m very worried she’ll get lost.

Please do not let her go outside by her own, she'll never come back! If you want to let her out, pease make sure you have a good cat harness and make sure she's under supervision if you want to let her out but never on her own.

Taking the cat outside supervised, either on a harness or in a pet stroller, would be best. Just ignore the cat if you're not able to take her outside. Redirect her attention to toys and make sure you play with her daily. That would help burn off the extra energy. If you have outdoor space and are allowed to, build a catio so your cat can be outdoors but confined in a safe area.

Rather than wanting to go outside she may just be telling you about
the things she saw through the window. Make her a nice soft covered
perch to look out a window. You can throw bird seed out there to attack birds and squirrels for her to watch. With cats the watching is as exciting as the killing (unless they are hungry.)

She'll live longer, be healthier and in less pain as an indoor cat. One cat fight, which is inevitable can lead to her getting FIV or Felv and astounding vet bills.

Thanks so much for replying. It’s just my friends all have cats and they alternate between inside and outside and they do come back and I want that with my cat. But it’s best for her to stay inside is it?

My cat meows extremely loudly, so loud that you can hear it in other rooms. Is there any way to stop that? I feel bad ignoring her. (She’s not sick because I took her to the vet recently.)

She should get a handle on her inside voice after a few weeks.

Not all cats are then same. Some may have been brought up as indoors/outdoors cats and they are used to it and knows how to come home and some properties are very safe without traffic or predators or any feral cats colony where your cat may end up in a fight and get injured.

Some may have been dong that since they were kittens and are used to harness and walking on leash.

If your cat is not uses ro the outdoors or have not been out before, she may be freaked out by loud sounds from cars or motorcycles or barking dogs and worse, being chased by dogs and there's no way you can control her or call her back.

Best is keep her indoors unless it is really safe or under supervision. you cam try by carrying her in your arms and bring her out by holding her firmly and see hw she reacts. Then maybe get a good harness and walk her.

f you ask me, I'll keep her in doors. Once she feel the outdoors and like it, she'll always want to go out and I don't think you can be there every time to let her out when she wants to and she could be restless just to get out.

Can you built a catio and link it to your house and then let her out to the catio which is the next thing that is like going outdoors?

O Orls.c - is your kitten/cat spayed? If not, she may be in heat. I saw her photo in your other thread - how old is she?
