I've tried a couple of times in the past, but now that my moggy has been dxed with IBD, I'm going to make a serious effort to transition him to homecooked. I'm going to use BalanceIT. Who here uses BalanceIT? How has your cat's health been on it?

I'm sorry; I'm not familiar with it. I hope a bump to this thread will catch the eye of someone who is. BTW, it's lovely to meet you.

I have not used BalanceIt and would be unlikely to because their system seems to require produce that I wouldn't want to feed our cats. (They also have stomach quirks!) I make cooked food with two supplements, though: Alnutrin and EZ Complete. Our cats love both kinds of food!

Do you happen to know what's causing your cat's symptoms? Also, since you wrote "moggy," I'm suspecting you might not live in North America so might have different products supplements available to you, is that a safe assumption?

Hi lisahe, yup I don’t live in the US. I’m using balanceit because they have a version for CKD cats. My vet is thinking of switching him to a hypoallergenic diet, so i’m thinking of switching him to duck and rice. Thanks!

Okay, got it on the geography!

But... is this to say that your cat has been diagnosed with both IBD and kidney disease?

Yup, that's right. We've known about the CKD for the past 5 years, IBD is something new to us, he was diagnosed after he had a bad bout of anorexia after we moved house ( he wouldn't eat on his own for nearly 3 weeks). Now, his appetite is back but he is only enthusiastic about eating Royal Canin tuna which has carrageenan which is supposed to be really bad. Trying to make him eat Hill Science Chicken and gravy before transitioning him to Balanceit. He has eaten some recipes from it in the past and really liked it.
