OH MY! I am so kittensmitten! Welcome to you and that beautiful baby...I only have one question...whose tail is he wearing? I adore cats whose tails don't quite match the rest of them. It gives them such an adorable, unique look.

Hi all,

Thanks you all for the warm welcome. I'm so glad that I was able to find this site. My boy is a siberian neva masquerade and currently he lives in Russia with his siblings. I think that tail of his is genuine. :)

He is expected to me here on 7/1. Should I expect some bathroom accidents when she first arrived at my home? I am planning to buy lots kitty stuff before he arrives. I think one of the most important items would be an enzymatic cleaner?

I appreciate all suggestion and advice for me before the arrival of new kitten (4 months old).

Yes, expect accidents to happen as it is his first time at your home and many things, sights and sounds are new to him.

Best is to keep sounds down including tv and talking and no slamming of doors. Give him a safe room if you can and plug up any hiding holes under the bed or cupboards and make sure windows are closed and put a cardboard box in the room for him so that he can retreat into it if he's afraid and here's an article on why cats like cardboard boxes :-
52-reasons-why-cats-must-get-inside-boxes.33426

Yes, get a good enzyme cleaner just in case he accidentally spill his 'business' elsewhere other than the litter box. One good brand is Nature's Miracle, get the one meant for cat. Many members have used other brands with good results too and maybe they might share the brand with you.

As for toys, a cat tree is a must that can be placed next to secure window so that he can look outside if your window does not have a window sill. A scratch post is must and get a tall one so that when he grows taller, he still can use it. Also not to mention cardboard boxes too.

Other toys I would hold on first but get the cat wand (the one with a string and feather) which is good if he's hiding and you can use this to lure him out of hiding besides using food and some ping pong balls so that he can chase a bouncing ball provided you don't have neighbors below you, otherwise, get some plastic golf balls (those with holes). Just make sure the toys are cat safe as many toys are cat safe due to the materials used.

Don't buy too many toys as you don't know what he really likes so that you don't have to waste money on that. My boy has many toys but he doesn't play with them. He only have one favorite ball and a DIY paper ball which he chases it crazy. Sometimes DIY toys are the ones they like. Here are some articles on cat toys and how cats play :-

A 4 month old kitten is handful. You have to keep up with their energy level. Start training him early and also take lots of photos of him as kittens grow up very fast.

Thanks for the link to the articles. The magical cardboard box and DIY cat toys. Love it !!. :thanks:
Does the cardboard box need to be a little tall? I have a few but they are pretty shallow.

I'm just curious how many of you feeding your cats/kittens home made raw food?

Cardboard can be of any size. It depends on how your cat plays with it and how much space you have in your house.

If it's a tall one, lay it on the side so that the opening is on the floor and cut some holes to play peekaboo with your cat.
Some cats like it snug so that it fits them nicely when they are in the prone position when inside the box, so a smaller box will do.

I have a very large box that came with the air purifier and I lay it on it's side and place it in one of the rooms and my boy goes to sleep in there sometimes or just hide in there. I have one that snugs him tight and another one that can fit two of him which is shallow and I just cut two holes on each end and put some of his toys in there. Even new shoe boxes will do too.

Cut away the flaps so that they don't get in the way as they can poke the cat's eyes.

The other one is paper grocery bags or any big paper bag but remember to cut off the string handle so that they don't get caught in them and panic or worse if there's no one's home to release the cat from being tangled up.

This one when my boy was younger

This was his favorite box as it fits him snuggly but he used it till it was unusable.
