I normally feed my crew cans of Halo wet, but I noticed my local market had a "grain free chicken recipe" dehydrated food, from The Honest Kitchen. It claims "Human Grade Quality and Safety".

Serving seems to simply be mixing with an appropriate amount of warm water. And looking through the list of ingredients, other than that every ingredient is prefixed with "dehydrated", there are no meat "meals" or anything else that raises alarms for me. And price-wise, it seems much less expensive per serving than my usual canned choice.

Anyone tried these? How did your cats react? Any other thoughts?

The Honest Kitchen is very carb and veggie heavy, both of which aren't great for cats. A lot of TCS cats don't like the brand very much.

You can get a trial sized box directly from The Honest Kitchen: 2 LB TRIAL BOX

We've used it in a pinch, since it's easy to store a lot of food in a small box. Our cats like it only with added ground meat, but I agree with LTS3 LTS3 it's kind of carb heavy for cats. If you're looking to use it in a rotation, you might try it and see if they like it but our cats wouldn't be happy if they were fed this and only this on the daily.

I bought a box, because for $10-$11, why not? But today at breakfast my crew of 4 were decidedly NOT impressed!

I think part of my problem with switching cat flavors (never mind brands), is that I also give them a high-quality (Halo-chicken) kibble every morning, that they can free-feed from at least the early morning hours. This means, whatever wet-food I provide, has to be more appetizing than the dry kibble I mean as simply a supplement!

I think a lot of cats are turned off by the texture. Depending on their preferences, some might prefer it a bit more soupy and some might like it a lot less soupy, so play with the added water a bit and see what you come up with.
If you mix it with dry or canned for the time being, you might get a different response. If that fails, using it as a topper or a drizzle might work.
If not, no harm done :wave3:
