Of course, I do! Although I really like baked beans with bacon, pineapple and those crispy Frenches onion rings...
Hmmm... can't do the bacon, not sure about the onion rings, but maybe pineapple. Is it like a topping?

We have. Did you know there are vegetarian hot dogs now? They are really good!
Yes, I usually buy a package every summer for barbecue season. But I'm thinking I need them for my baked beans. The vegetarian hot dogs are very much like what I remember the real ones to be like, except they don't puff up when they cook. But they taste the same, I think, and they're probably just as unhealthy as the real ones.

BTW, the Beyond Meat burgers are in the grocery stores here in Canada now. And they REALLY look like meat, which I guess is good for the meat eaters they're trying to win over. But not so much for us vegetarians/vegans who didn't really like handling meat. :( But I will probably try them over the summer, again during barbecue season.

I used to chop them up in my baked beans when my son was a little boy.We have always loved baked beans but he wasn't a fan,but he thought anything connected to a hot dog couldn't be bad.Now I use onion, bacon, and green pepper....hadn't thought of pineapple but that's a great idea!

On the hot dog and baked beans thing, we did that when I was a kid but I kind of forgot about it until now. We also added ketchup and mustard. I don't remember if it was really good or really bad, but now we add onions and a touch of Worcestershire sauce or liquid smoke.
Since we found some canned chicken that isn't made to have the texture of cat food, we're just going to heat it up and slap it on a bun and maybe now we'll have baked beans as a go with

If you'd split the hot dogs in half lengthwise but not all the way thru and lay them on a cookie sheet, top them with your choice flavor of mashed potatoes and grated cheddar or your favorite cheese and bake at 350 til the cheese melts and everything is hot, there's a new way to eat a "dog".They're delish!
Yum that sounds good! I have a new package of Nathan's hot dogs so I may do that tomorrow.

Tonight another bowl of anti pasta, I had one for lunch as well and last night. That thing was huge!! I also had a cheese sandwich, sharp cheddar thinly sliced on fresh Italian bread.I will have a Krispy Creme donut later on.

Well that sounds really delicious!

I ended up being a dummy. Got home and put a weiner under the broiler to brown, then looked in the fridge....and I had used all the hot dog buns already...and had no bread.

So....I cooked a single serving of large elbow macaroni and melted a little butter, milk, BBQ sauce, and cheddar cheese into it. Then sliced the broiled hot dog into it and topped with sweet onions. It was pretty good for "on the fly".

The baked muffin corn-masa cups? Those really are good, and a lot faster than rolling out corn tortillas and cooking them one-by-on in cast iron. I may never make regular corn tortillas again! I made 1/3rd batch to try the recipe. I'm wondering if they freeze all right if I make a full batch (24 cups). They would stack well in the freezer....if they don't stick together, or get soggy/mushy after pulling them out. I'm sure you'd have to crisp them up unfilled, or maybe be able to fill and bake.

My husband tried the Beyond Meat burgers and liked them - he's not even vegetarian so that says a lot for him. I really like the Cowboy Quinoa Veggie burgers from Trader Joe's: What's Good at Trader Joe's?: Trader Joe's Quinoa Cowboy Veggie Burgers
I had one tonight for dinner on a roll with roasted red pepper hummus, slice of tomato and spinach leaves.

I used to chop them up in my baked beans when my son was a little boy.
:yeah: Ditto, I did the same for our children when they were young.

They have vegetarian bacon as well. I think it was Morningstar Farm brand that I liked.
Funny, I don't really miss bacon. Actually, I don't miss meat, except for burgers, and there's lots of good veggie burgers available now, plus I have a couple recipes for good ones too. :yummy:

Are you vegetarian now, M maggiedemi ? Or just trying different vegetarian foods?

That sounds yummy. We don't have Trader Joes, so can't try that one. But I have made a black bean quinoa burger that was pretty good.

They serve a black bean burger at The Galaxy, a restaurant here in town. My best friend's parents (from childhood) own the restaurant. Her dad has been in the biz on and off since the 60s. He used to serve a cheeseburger with a slice of ham on it at one of his restaurants, it was so good. He called it "The Ham-B". He now serves that at The Galaxy. It makes me nostalgic, as I would attend their church a lot on Sundays after staying all night on Saturday. After church we would eat at their restaurant, always having Ham-Bs, then go to the movies, always a double feature, while her parents worked at the restaurant.

The black bean burger is a big hit although I haven't tried it yet.

I want to be vegetarian, I just haven't made the switch totally yet.
There's no rush, you have to do what is best for you and know what is most important for you or you won't succeed. There are different reasons why people choose to go vegetarian, e.g. some health, others humanitarian, etc. It's okay to start slow, cut out one thing at a time, wait and then eliminate another. That's what I did and I never looked back. ;)

...with the cats...
i'll have a grilled cheese sandwich, maybe two of them. the last (that's thawed) slice of carob cherry carob chip cake for dessert -- later in the evening. :D

i bought a loaf of bread at the grocery store earlier this week -- did the slices of bread shrink, since i last bought some (likely several years ago...other than at the local produce auction, since i almost always make my bread at home in the bread machine)? i looked at the bread slices yesterday and thought, what has happened here? they look like they'd be appropriate portions for elementary school kids. :headshake:

It's over 90 degrees here every day already, so if I don't bake before noon....then I'm not baking.

So I just got "Cheesy Corny Cornbread Dogs" done, and had one. Pretty yummy. I'll have a slice for dinner, and add a green veggie as a side.

I had 5 wieners left, so I've got 5 "dogs" plus one extra piece of cornbread.
