I'm taking a page out of Mamanyt1953 Mamanyt1953 's book. Picked up a package of hot dogs for 79 cents yesterday and had some homemade hot dog buns in the freezer from...a month ago maybe.

Dinner tonight was a hot dog on a toasted bun with extra-sharp cheddar, Vidalia onions and mustard. Blue Bunny Salted Caramel with chocolate chunks ice cream for dessert. The ice cream was also on sale at $2.49 for 48 oz. Never tried the brand before...it's yummy!

Oh yes, I think you should make this. You know how much I love casseroles.

I'm thinking something similar to Mia6 Mia6 's version of corn casserole with hot dogs and shredded cheddar cheese added. It should taste like a cheesy corn dog!

That sounds really good. I used to make a corn casserole with canned corn, creamed canned corn, sour cream, 2 packages of Jiffy corn muffin mix, butter. it's been over 20 years since I've made it but it was so good.

I'll do another hot dog tonight with the last hot dog bun.

This weekend, I'll have to make another batch of buns, or do some type of hot dog casserole to use up the rest of the wieners. Either that or freeze them.
If you'd split the hot dogs in half lengthwise but not all the way thru and lay them on a cookie sheet, top them with your choice flavor of mashed potatoes and grated cheddar or your favorite cheese and bake at 350 til the cheese melts and everything is hot, there's a new way to eat a "dog".They're delish!
