As some of you may know, my baby boy Louie has CHF/HCM. Takes meds daily 3x a day.
I've been struggling with his eating for a few days.
I tried Tuna for cats (no onions or vegs- TJ's brand)
He had a few bites yesterday but not crazy about it.
Tried some new Weruva pates....he gets initially interested, licks up a little....then stops.

He has ALOT of treats- mainly because I get so scared he doesn't eat I'll let him have any treat he'll eat.
He has 1-3 temptations, PureBites Chicken, or Wellness Kittles. Maybe total of 10 -12 pieces per day.

USUALLY, even if he is finnicky in the day, I'll wake up and see his autofeeder is empty or almost empty. He does eat some Orijen dry...although for a week or two its been Nature Instinct Ultimate Protein. (I think that's what its called)

This morning....most of the food was left....licked up some wet but not finishing it.
Out of all the wet foods, he seems to like FF the most....
I really wanted him to stop with the FF because of the fish.......and phosphorus.

What can I do?
Just sad and frustrated.

Is it so bad to just give him FF? Long term prognosis is not good for HCM and who knows how long he'll be with us. Should I stop with the hunt for high quality wet food and just go with FF classic pates

A lot of people here feed Fancy Feast Classics, including me. :)
What are some flavors your cat likes? Louie usually goes for chicken feast...but I want to try others.

I would just let him eat what he wants. If FF is what he'll eat then let him have it. As you said, CHF does not have the best prognosis, (mine passed only 4 months after diagnosis) and it's better he eats something than trying to force him to eat what he doesn't want. It will just make you frustrated and upset and he'll feel that on top of being ill. Heck, when my kitty stopped eating for the second time with his CHF, most of his diet was temptations treats.
One thing to mention, Hank would refuse to eat when the fluid in his chest filled up too much.

Yep Im gona just let him have whatever he'll eat
He did finish 2 cans yesterday and ate up his dry..... I drove to the vet and got him his Mirataz though and applied it to his ear, I'm thinking that did it.

You can try some Stella and Chewy's freeze dried raw. It's expensive but they have small bags for about $10. They can be rehydrated and fed as complete meals or as a topper for wet food. I call them crack for cats and so does one of the store clerks where I buy them so a lot of cats must really love them. No guarantees but maybe they can help get some more calories into your kitty.

I can't offer any real experience with the CHF. My last cat was diagnosed with it but threw a blood clot two days later so I have no real personal experience with trying to manage it. I'm sorry that your kitty has it.
