On April 27, I adopted a 2 year old male cat from a shelter. At first he hid from me but for the most part he is now fine. Sometimes he will run from me but he also seeks me out for cuddles. Whenever I am on the couch he sits on my lap or if I am laying down he walks on me. My main issue is he is eating very little. At one point I think he was eating a half a can of Friskies but now he isn’t even doing that. I think he only pooped once this past week and it was very small. I’ve tried other brands such as Canada Fresh, Fancy Feast, Whiskers, Iams, almo, wervua, presidents choice but no dice. When I have seen him eat it is usually licking the gravy or salmon. The odd time turkey and chicken. Today I was able to get him to eat some chicken baby food off my fingers. I also tried force feeding him with a dropper which was somewhat successful albeit messy since he was squirmy. I bought nutritional yeast and fortiflora today. I have two bowls out of salmon friskies one with the yeast and one with the fortiflora. Hopefully he eats one. When I mentioned it to the vet on the 9th he was like ya cats are picky eaters. In sum he is eating maybe 1-3 Oz a day, and is a 14lb guy. What do you recommend I do?
