On April 12th 2019 we had my long time cat Athena put down. We had her for 10 years when we adopted her we never knew how old she was we still don't know how old she was. She was a stunning gorgeous american short hair she was grey and white and black with beautiful blue eyes. Me and her would always cuddle and butt our heads together she was so much fun. Before she got sick she was HUGE like humongous she ate A LOT but she was like a little teddy bear. We noticed something was wrong with her when we moved here to North Carolina October of 2018 she was just off. It started off she wouldn't really move around as much as she used to then she stopped eating and would just lay by the water bowl and drink all day long we would have to refill it at least twice a day then she would walk around but her back legs just weren't really working all that well so we knew something was up. She started getting so skinny she couldn't even hold herself up and her back legs would just drag across the ground like they just didn't work anymore. So we made the hard decision after months of seeing her like this we decided it was time for her to cross the bridge so i called the vet and on Friday April 12 2019 she passed away. We miss her so much but it was just time. a week or so later the vet we got her put down at sent a card and everyone who works there wrote a message and signed there name it was heart touching really. So today has been 1 month and 3 days since her passing and i'm holding up okay sometimes i will think about her and cry but its a part of life. Thank you to anyone who read this whole thing.

Know that she is always with you, that in spirit she can follow you anywhere and everywhere. She watches over you and loves you still, now and forever. You gave her the greatest gift anyone can give another, the gift of freedom from the physical form that has become a prison.

I am so sorry that this happened to you and your kitty, it is the unfortunate thing that they all will pass away and leave us but as long as they remain in our hearts and memories they are never really gone. You did the right thing by sending her off to her new life where she is new and healthy again and just fine, and you will see her again one day and it will be wonderful.

"Their last breath on Earth is their first breath in Heaven" :rbheart:

I am sorry for your loss, I hope that your hearts heal a bit more each day, God Bless....:alright: :grouphug2: :rbheart:

Rest you gentle, Athena, dream you deep. Your pawprints are on someone's heart forever.

The very best part of Athena was her love for you, and I promise you this, love never dies. It only changes form, and continues on, still Love. Love abides, always and forever. Love abides. So, you see, Athena is with you still, and always will be.

Her love will always be a part of you, teh bond you fromed over those years is spiritual, so eternal. "Death cannot take that which never dies".......
All living things must have an end, just like they have a beginning. Some do not have as much time as others, so leave behind those that grieve over them leaving. Your precious Athena will forever be as close as your thoughts and prayers, do not dwell on her end, it is but a moment in a long, beautiful life. Concentrate on what she meant to you, and know she would never want you to be so sad because of her. Just as you would want for her to go on and find joy and happiness in life, so she wants for you, that is love.
My heart breaks for your pain, I'll keep you all in my thoughts and prayers, take care of yourself......RIP precious Athena. You will be dearly missed, you will forever have a secure place in loving hearts. May the good Lord bless and keep you, until you meet again!

She surely was a big beautiful lady! You were blessed to have so many years with her.
I wish cats truly did have nine lives...because one just isn't nearly enough. Sleep easy Athena, you are loved forever. God bless you.

What a pretty girl she was.
That thing about cats, once you know something isn't right or is off about them it's often too late because cats are just so good at hiding pain.
I'm very sorry for your loss.
