Been out of the loop. My internet has been down for a couple of days and just now came up.

What would you do if you adopted a pet and had it for 2 weeks but then the old owner came forward and wanted them back?
If you adopted from a shelter, then you can't do anything unless the shelter asks you to. They legally owned the animal after it was seized, not the original owner.
And how did they find you? The shelter can't give them that info.

There's been another school shooting near me, and this time the younger suspect is a girl:
This was in my son's good friend's home town. Fortunately, he's home schooled and wasn't there.

My old man Beagle is still kicking. I noticed a lot of blood coming from his mouth and changed his food to all wet. Probably has a tooth issue going on. He was getting over half wet anyway, so it wasn't a big change.
He seems to have bounced back. He's like the guy in Monty Python..."I'm not quite dead yet".

Now I'm off to binge watch Lucifer season 4.

Yes, Bullying gets involved.. and the kid being bullied does need help, support.. as well as a no tolerance rule in school..
I remember being bullied as a kid; I never told an adult because I knew the adult would just talk to the bully's mother, who would talk to the bully, who would bully me more.

Worse, after Columbine there was a move in the state legislature to extend anti-hazing laws to cover bullying in the lower grades, and it was shouted down by parents who said that bullying was an important part of education, that it taught kids about the real world! Most of the bullying I was hearing about in the schools were things that in the "real world" would get an adult arrested for, at the very least, assault. In some cases they showed "depraved indifference" to human life - things that, if judged wrong by just a fraction of an inch, could well have resulted in death.

The older suspect, Devon Erickson, posted on his Facebook page that he hates Christians who denigrate gays (Colorado School Shooting Suspect Devon Erickson Shared Anti-Trump Facebook Post), and I had read in an earlier story that the two suspects carpooled to school together.

It seems to me that puberty and young adulthood are inherently difficult times, to the point of insanity by adult standards, and this is normal. I heard it described once as "their bodies are changing faster than the world around them," which checks with my memories of that time; sometimes it makes me wonder how any of us survive to adulthood. And how do you define "mental health" in a person whose body is filled with raging hormones? (Personally, I don't know. I hope that mental health professionals have an answer to the question.)

Fortunately, it's not terribly loud. So I can't complain too much. He seems to enjoy it and it's so cute to watch him rocking out.
If/when it gets too loud or sharp sounding, you can make a softer sounding drum for him from an old oatmeal box and some old inner tube rubber. Or perhaps a coffee can and inner tube rubber - it might hold up better than an oatmeal box.

Does anyone have any ideas on how someone who is on the road 7 or more days a week can eat decently without going into debt? This is the scenario: My son drives a big rig. He has a cooler and a small fridge on board, also a microwave but not a freezer. Although he is not addicted to junk food he does eat out quite a bit and then eats too much. If he could afford Jenny Craig or something like that it would be ideal but that is way too expensive. Are there nutritious foods out there that are freeze dried and taste good and are not loaded with calories and sodium and sugar and are single servings? I found plenty of them for 2 or more servings but that does not help my son who needs to loose weight and I know he would eat the whole package at one time.

With freeze-dried food, you give up proper nutrition for long shelf life. My Mountain House beef stew has 860 mg. sodium and 6 gm. fat per serving. And a pouch is two an a half servings. But the best by date is 2046.

Amazon is always a good place to start looking to compare prices and nutrition versus shelf life. Then you can look at other sites. I bought all my midden-impacts-the-windmill (thank you Sir Terry) survival foods from Amazon. I even bought freeze-dried cheesecake and ice cream bars.

segelkatt segelkatt - Sandwiches! A loaf of bread will last a week, lunchmeat and cheese will fit in a mini fridge (or pb&j) and could cover lunches at least. I buy salad kits that I divide in half and use for two meals, but I doubt that would be enough food for your son on its own.

My cousin is a trucker and is on a health kick and also is trying to do FIRE (Financial Independence, Retire Early---spending as little as possible now to save for retirement). He does meal planning/portioning (and then posts about it on Facebook, lol). He gets healthy restaurant or premade grocery store meals, then he portions those into plastic containers, puts them in his fridge, and heats them up for meals. It all takes time and energy so that's usually why most people don't do it, but if he's willing to put in the time and effort it's doable.

Frozen meals can be pretty healthy and taste decent. But they do need to be frozen so that might not work for him.

There are some people who are MRE enthusiasts. They have websites and forums and like to discuss which are healthiest and taste the best. So if he really wants something shelf-stable he could look at those sites/forums.

How does a veterinarian with years of experience miss a tooth affected by resportion during an extration?

Prior to Felix's dental, I checked and I saw 2 affected teeth (top pre-molars). Yet, after surgery, I looked in his mouth and a completely different tooth was pulled out. They did in fact get the really bad one but missed the one on the other side which is clearly also a problem.

Weeks later (today), I check his mouth again and the tooth I had suspected was affected is now in the quick process of breaking down...

What should I do?
