There are so many different options today then when I had Pepper who really did not like catnip at all. I'm just wondering which is the best brand of catnip to order both dry and spray. I can kill an artificial plant so planting catnip for me is really not an option as I'm not good at plants at all. Yes I managed to kill an air plant once. Any brands to recommend or to avoid? Just worried these days with all I read online about these recalls. Thank you.

Hi!
I have Smartykat, and Yeowww sells loose 'nip (as well as their toys), and you might check Only Natural Pet's website to see if they have some :)
Thanks. I'll check those out. Treasure came back, sniffed the toys, no interest in food but she checked the toys, and then called out to Shaman like "Come check out our gifts" and then ran off looking for her lol

I've just recently read that catnip loses it's potency (natural oils dissipate over time), and it is best to freeze whatever isn't being used. Is this true?

I have noticed Feeby losing interest in catnip after a while. Recently I have bought SmartKat Organic Catnip because it comes in a plastic container with a screw on lid, thinking that would help preserve it longer. It may somewhat, but given Feeby's reaction to it as I go through a container, I am guessing not as much as she/I would like.

Not trying to hijack this thread, as this information will be helpful to the OP and other readers as well.

Thanks.

My cats are okay with Yeowww, but we also have Meowijuana. You can request several $1 samples of Meowijuana from their site and pay S&H, but you could pick it up at Petsmart.

Thanks for all the great ideas. Shaman can't decide if she wants to play with the toys or relax to the classical harp. Maybe I should put on some upbeat music for her.

 Some cat like it and then 'snooze' others like it and then 'go nuts'. (Still others just don't care!)

Not sure the music will make a difference!! But, hey if you try different music and get different results, let us know!! :)

Not technically; and as far as I know nothing I have read said it is harmful. Sure, there is likely a cat or two out there that is allergic to it, but otherwise, I don't think it is an issue.

I can't help too much with the dry catnip, I grow my own (well actually at this point it grows in areas all around the outside of my house not just where I planted it.). For spay though I have had luck with my cats liking the Kong naturals catnip spray.
