:noway::shocked:Cat and leather couch together :jawdrop:
We have all leather furniture except one upholstered gliderand 2 kitties. I provided sisal and heavy duty cardboard scratching options in every room in the house except the kitchen and our bedroom (the kitties don't sleep with us). Louie nor Newman have ever made any attempt to scratch the leather furniture or the upholstered chair. George didn't either when he was with us. I drop off clip their toenails every week to keep them short. They have all used the provided scratchers with enthusiasm.

Leather couches are actually great with cats if anyone in your household has allergies because they don't trap fur in the same way that some fabrics can. My husband is allergic, so we have leather couches. They get lots of incidental, shallow scratches, but that just adds to their character, right?

Juniper took several weeks after we got her to differentiate between approved scratching devices and verboten surfaces (mainly because I think she'd never had a scratcher before, and was overhwelmed with a new environment) but she showed no interest in the couches. The rug, however, was another story...
