Hi,
I have a cat who is around 5-7 pounds. She was 4.5 pounds from the pound 6 months ago.
After salmonella sickness from feeding raw, I changed to wet/dry.

I give half 2/3 cup with 1/4 cup pumpkin filler, and a bit of mineral oil.

I’ve been wanting to spend less time making her regular in the kitchen.

I also mix feline nuvet in the pumpkin.

Weight isn’t an issue for her. I’ve tried wet, dry, pumpkin, mineral oil, nuvet powder.

She is persian I want to know what should be the next step if she stops pooping regularly?

Is there a way to get her offf pumpkin and mineral oil?

The vet said she needs fiber, so I began adding these to her dry food.

What do I do if she gets picky? Because she is known to walk away and graze on the food.

Have you tried psyllium. It is another form of fibre but is not ingested into the intestines. It firms a gel that eases the stools being passed. Just add a pinch to the food twice a day.

I have tried Purinas floriflora

It’s expensive

The vet also recommends benefiber

I heard of adding miralax.

I don’t want to do anything that will hurt her.

Oh, she will eat her food when she sees that I won’t give her my food. She holds out. Also she likes it when I rearrange the food on the dish in a pile.

Hi!
I have read of other cats liking their food arranged into a pile :)
Did you see the post above regarding psyllium?
Have you tried fancy feast?

I have not tried this because mineral oil and pumpkin was available.
I have heard of another pat person using glandex .
I think I’ll experiment with what I have:
Purina fortiflira
Pumpkin can
Mineral oil
Benefiber
Miralax
Wet food
Dry food

She looks like my persian girl Allie!

Since kitten or as far as I can remember my Allie has a bowel movement every 3 days...Yes 3 days and she is not constipated but poops a boat load, shes 4 years old now and healthy as a Ox

I started feeding my 2 cats canned pumpkin 2 weeks ago, they eat it out of my finger!

I just ordered this

I edited my post with powder pumpkin I recently ordered, maybe shes not constipated at all?

I mean if you suddenly started taking care of my Allie you would assume she was constipated im sure but shes not!

Oh ok
My cat does the scoot along the carpet
She gets firm in the stomach, the vet showed me; she’s constipated. It was embarrassing.
If I try to change too much at once she has a blow out or gets really constipated.
That means bath time eventually. She hates the hair dryer!

Oliver was recently constipated my persian boy...He was crying and limping in the rear legs, this was a week ago!

I had xray done and he went on Lactulose, im still giving him .5 ml a day with canned pumpkin a teaspoon..Too much pumpkin I read can make it worse so be careful of overdoing it

Im hoping the constipation was due to diet changes he was going through...I plan to stop the lactulose soon and use pumpkin and cross my fingers

I thought he was having a blood clot and was very upset

I personally would work to add more wet to her diet, and definitely make sure she's drinking more water if you're going to use benefiber or miralax.

Pumpkin can have the opposite effect and I wouldn't use it here.

-->>Ask your vet about all of this. I think you probably don't want to have more than one of these things at a time.

Try fancy feast and there are other brands. You may only need to find the wet food that she's likes.

I spoke to a breeder once about this issue
She recommended purina fortiflira
I have 2.5 boxes of this. Do I stop pumpkin? Add fortiflora?
That would be
1/2 2/3 cup dry
Mineral oil
Fortiflora
Nuvet powder
Should I add a scoop of wet food to be safe?
