Hi all,
We received a male ginger and white kitten on Tuesday past, there is no known history as I think it is a feral cat, although it is not frightened of people and is very loving. I fed it some Whiskers meat in jelly to tide him over till I bought some cat biscuits for kittens younger than one year ( I'm guessing here but he's not very big yet) and he had a little bit of a runny poop twice on Tuesday after eating the meat in jelly. Since then however he has not been to the bathroom at all that I am aware of, he is eating the biscuits and drinking water fine, does not seem to be in any discomfort but I simply have not found anywhere he has used the bathroom and yes there is a litter pan and he knows where it is. Any advise please?

Hi. You need to keep an eye on him to make sure he is actually not going either in the litterbox or perhaps somewhere else. Do you have other cats, and that is why you are not sure whether or not he is going?

You could try to stimulate him to poop. See the article link below about how to do so.

Hopefully other members will come along today and offer their tips/advice. Be patient, sometimes it just takes a while for them to have time to log on and read through the posts!

If he had diarrhea, it will take a while for him to go. Do you mesn three days ago or 10 days ago you got him? If it has been 10 days, he might need an xray to see what is going on, much cheaper then a CT scan or MRI. that is too long. They can have diarrhea that comes around a compaction, so he might be severly constipated. Call your vet and see if you can give 1/4 tsp Miralax in a beaten egg yolk, or what he recommends if it has been ten days. Just increase water and give pureed pumpkin with no spices, 1 tablespoon, mixed in wet food for fiber. Please keep us informed!

:yeah: ... especially with younger kittens new to a household.

I'd look around and sniff at any piles of laundry on the floor (if you have any:) ), underneath any dining chairs, even sniff at any bean bag chairs or floofy ottomans you might have sitting around, if they are in your decor at home! Kittens love to pee in gushy things like bean bag chairs, lol.

Hi FeebysOwner thank you for your reply. No we only have the one cat and we are keeping an eye on him to ensure he doesn't go anywhere else. I have checked the whole flat to see if he went anywhere else and I can't find any sign. I will look up how to stimulate him to poop, and provide feedback.

Welcome, Tigger -now you need to go pee and poop in the litter tray so your hoomans stop worrying about you and can get on with being tormented by your kitten ways :D

(Sounds like a vet visit is in order, you should always register with your own vet anyway, they like to have an initial appointment including a general health check, and you can mention this at the same time)

YAY! Only here do we get so excited about poops!
It's hard not to worry, but once the system is cleaned out from diarrhea it takes days to regulate itself by forming more feces. I was going through the same thing, had a little stray female spayed and she took almost 5 days to go after surgery. Whew!
