Snickers went to the Vet today. He IS in fact a boy and already Neutered. Yay ! Vet estimated 5 to 6 years of age.
Today Snickers had a Rabies Vax, Deworming , Ear mite treatment and a dose of Frontline Gold.
He'll go back in 3 weeks to get the Felv vax.

So, he WAS someone's kitty at some time? Or, does he have a tipped ear, suggesting he was TNR'd? I didn't go back to your other thread - are you thinking of making him at least an indoor/outdoor cat? Snickers is so sweet, and very lucky to have you!

Yes I think he was the neighbors cat. They abandoned him. When he first came to our house last year he had appx thirty engorged ticks. After three doses of Frontline Gold they're finally gone.
We are keeping him but only outside . We have two indoor cats and three dogs already. Snickers is afraid of dogs. We built him two very nice winter shelters and he's seems pretty happy. He never leaves our property anymore.

Thank you for rescuing him and looking after his health concerns. :hugs: Snickers is such a noble looking boy. :silver: I hope he continues to thrive now that he has not one but two nice warm shelters on your property.
Thank you. Yes I'll take good care of him.

When we went to the Vet she said Snickers had Ear Mites. We were told to get Revolution and that would take care of it. I did order it. Does it really work? I'm the mean time I bought R7 Ear mite treatment. He hates it.

Poor Snickers! Since he got Frontline Plus, I guess he will have to wait for - what 1 month? - before he can have the Revolution. Bummer.

How long do you have to use the ear mite treatment? Also, did the vet check to make sure the eardrum is intact? That should have been done before applying any sort of ear mite treatment. Did the vet clean his ears too?

Revolution Plus is supposed to prevent fleas, ticks, ear mites, roundworm, hookworms, and heartworms. So, I hope you ordered the PLUS version - I think, that is the one needed to cover ear mites. If you are asking about the ear mite treatment's effectiveness - I have no idea which ones are considered effective - but, hope some other members come along soon and tell you what they have used!!
