I love TJ;s...

Almond milk
Low fat Greek Yogurt--delish-?Stonefield
reduced fat mac & Cheese--frozen
Organic Pasta Sauce--jar
Coffee
chocolate chip banana muffins
banana bread
Pumpkin bread mix--in season
Olive Oil
Balsamic Vinegar--gold label
bagged lettuce and mixes
Pesto--both frozen with linguine and jarred
Pasta
Hummus--garlic hummus is awesome
Movie Theater Popcorn
Chicken--organic
Honey
trail mixes
chocolate covered almonds
cookies
crackers
some cheeses

I like the fact that their products are
non-GMO.

For someone who lives alone, their products are in good sizes, and are great... and really not all that expensive..when you compare..

Also love all their taste testing tidbits..
and free coffee.

I usually stock up at TJ's at least every 2 weeks.. if not more often..

I buy several of these things, too. The honey is really reasonably priced and less expensive than what I can find in our regular grocery store. I haven't tried the reduced fat mac and cheese, but the "fat" mac and cheese is pretty tasty. It's another good "just in case" item to have in the freezer.

They have free coffee??? Well. I'll definitely be looking for some of that to sip on while I'm shopping next time. They do occasionally have a table set up with wine to try, but I usually shop in the morning and don't feel like drinking wine at 10 a.m.!

W Willowy is the sourdough bread already made...the one in the fresh bread section?
Yep---the circle loaf. I buy a few and freeze them. It's hard to find good sourdough around here.

I like their dairy products too. The heavy cream, the goat milk.

And carrot juice.

Man, now I have to plan a trip to Omaha soon!

I'm going to have to enjoy Trader Joe's foods and snacks vicariously, by lurking on this thread
lurk.gif

I remember visiting Trader Joe's a handful of years ago, and all of the items of their brand I was attracted to ended up being pretty darn high in salt content. Ack! I definitely would have to do "supervised visits" or something if I went there regularly. sigh.

Ah, that reminds me! I make the girls’ food, and TJ’s has high quality boneless chicken thighs for $2.69/lb. Organic, no additives.
That's what I bought last time I was there. I put them in the Crock Pot for 10 hours and had trouble serving them because they fell to pieces when I stuck a fork into them, which means they were perfect. In fact, I used some of the left-overs to make myself a chicken sandwich for lunch today, and after I re-warmed what I thought was the right amount in the microwave I ended up having to give the excess to Jasmine and Bright Eyes, who were very happy for the mid-day treat.

I also buy tomatoes there (Trader Joes is the only place I know of where it's possible to get fresh Beefsteak Tomatoes at this point), and rolled oats (processed in a facility that doesn't also process wheat products, so they're gluten free), and their grass fed beef.

We got our first Trader Joes in metropolitan Denver just a couple of years ago, clear on the other side of town from us, and then we got a new one that's about 5 minutes away from our house about one year ago, and I love it.

Before you make any trip to TJ's, check out their Fearless Flyer!
February Flyer 2019 And plan to throw an ice chest in your trunk, if the store isn't close to you. Our closest store is about 60 miles away, so we use the ice chest.
  • TJ's grocery bags are awesome. Spend the money and buy them. I think we have seven now that we use on our weekly shopping trip to our regular grocery store. Much sturdier than those blasted plastic bags.
  • TJ's cheese are fantastic. Just don't get too addicted to a certain cheese because it'll be here one time and gone the next. I still think about their Fontiago cheese, a decadent cross between Fontina and Asiago. Lord, it was delicious. And they only had it that one time. I was so disappointed when they took it away.
  • They sell Ghirardelli's chocolate bark. I always buy a huge piece, sometimes more than one, around the holidays....for baking and for ganache. (And then I cut chunks off the bark to munch on. Decadent!)
  • I buy whole raw almonds at TJ's to make my holiday almond brittle, but also to roast and keep on hand for munching. Almonds keep well in the freezer.
  • Olive oil! I usually buy 3 large bottles of TJ's olive oil to see me through til our next trip. Good stuff. And it really is pure olive oil.
  • TJ's usually has some kind of rice trilogy and they're really good. So much better than plain old white rice. I also buy their Israeli couscous.
  • They used to carry a salsa made with black beans and corn. Good stuff. It's been a while since we were there, so I don't know if it's still being carried.
  • Rick loves the little mini-peanut butter cups; they're as big as your little fingertip.
  • I like their Vodka Sauce
I"m sure they are other items, too, but can't think of any right off hand.

The TJs is just across the street from one of Robert's doctors, a trip of about 25 miles, so we occasionally go there after a visit. Our TJ is fairly small; I don't know if this is typical. We absolutely have to load up on their three pub cheeses - regular, jalapeño, and horseradish. The clerk gives use a bit of a look when we do. You'd think we were provisioning for a long expedition. Their Two Buck Chuck wine isn't bad. Overall, though, our local big grocery stores have stuff just as good and a lot cheaper. My local HEB offers a huge selection of bulk foods and spices.

Aldi's has come in here like gangbusters, but they don't impress me, either. Great prices, limited selection, mostly imported by and for them.

Sprouts is health-food oriented, but they have some good prices on meat and seafood. They also have a huge bulk product selection.

If they build a TJ closer, I might go there more often, but as it is, their stores here are built in the much more affluent areas and prices reflect it.

I love a lot of their house brand beers, super cheap and tasty and most have an ABV that is more than fair for the money.
These are probably my two faves:

Also these things are friggen crack in a box and I curse my old art teacher for turning me onto them a few weeks ago because my big fat gut was really better off not knowing about them:

We've decided one box is a serving size. :cringe:

I also love the dark chocolate mini peanut butter cups and usually I always have a tub in the fridge but my Boyfie raids it until they're all gone.
:flail:

Also the spicy hummus is bommmmb especially on their everything pretzel flats.

I absolutely friggen love TJ's.

Only bum item I've ever had from them was the frozen steak & ale pie. I've sampled cat food that tasted better than those nasty things ugh.

Those things are so ridiculously good! Our neighbors have them at their annual holiday party, and I have to restrain myself.

We lived in Greeley before moving to Oregon, and the closest TJ was in Boulder. I heard that TJ had trouble getting started in Colorado because they carry wine, and the alcoholic beverage store owners carry a lot of political clout and didn’t want the competition.

Before you make any trip to TJ's, check out their Fearless Flyer!
We get it in the mail, and it’s always a hoot to read. Someone in their PR shop has a sense of humor!

Okay, those are also going on my list! I agree: One box looks like a serving size.

I would love to live near a Trader Joe's but the closest one is about 40 miles away. I have only been there once. If I lived near one I would buy all the vegetarian and vegan stuff I could afford that I can't find around here in my Safeway or Shoppers.

I buy several boxes during the holiday season and eat them all myself :paperbag:

There's a TJs down the street from work. I have to stop by at some point and get more cereal and cookies.

The closest Trader Joe's is about a half hour from here, but it on a super congested road that is frustrating to drive. I do occasionally stop in if I happen to be in the area. Iv'e bought a frozen cauliflower "stir fry" before that I liked as well as Frozen turkey meatballs. There is a black pepper cheese that my husband really likes.

They FINALLY had these in stock today! They’ve been out of them. I ate them all the way home and then hid them in a cabinet so I wouldn’t have to share. I’m so ashamed. :paperbag:

No, not really. :insertevillaugh:

You guys are so lucky to have a Trader Joe, Wegmans and Whole Foods near your house. All I have is a little organic store call Mom's and it is expensive.
